Father told him to, a part of his code of honor that he had, that all toms should, really. But sadly he was the only one who followed father's old fashioned code. Maybe he could change that later.

As she told him her name, he sighed. ''I know.'' He said softly. ''I guess since we're introducing ourselves now, I'm Timberwolf.'' With a flash of intuition in his eyes, he noted how much younger she was. ''You're only about 30 moons, right.'' He said, as a statement but phrased as a question. So she wasn't around during the fire. ''Do you have family in the Clan, Mothflight?'' Blunt of him to ask.

Mothflight shrugged. "If I'm being talked to, I hear and respond as calmly as I can. Arguing is one of my least favorite things to do, but I'm always willing." Her eyes turned to tiny slite for less than a second(barely noticeable if at all) when the tom said his name was Timberwolf. That name sounds... like I should know it... She didn't look deep into it. She flinched at the question about her family. "I... I don't know." She mewed, straightening herself. "I don't remember having a family here, but I remember my apprentice name, Mothpaw(not in rp). Why?" She was getting suspicious.

Mothflight stared at the ground. "Well, I remember my kit and apprentice name but not my parents and my siblings if I have any." Mothflight mewed sadly. "What about you?" She lifted her head.

'Competent ones. Respectful'- pssh, respectful, my tail - 'ones. Loyal ones.'

Loyal? Did this tomcat not think she was loyal? Competent and respectful, she was not. But loyal? She saw loyalty as putting up with toms until they got boring. Giving them the light of day until she was tired of them and dropped them like prey she didn't feel like eating anymore, breaking their hearts, no, not just breaking them, but tossing their hearts on the ground and kicking them around and stomping on them. A malicious grim crept across her maw. That was her definition of loyalty. Making them think she was in love with her for her own entertainment.

'And older ones. Ones that were at least around when I was a kit. And... and my family.' Ughhh. That's why he was like this. He's probably a mama's boy. So keen on speaking the 'truth' and then backing down when things get aggressive. Pitiful, truly. Most cats respected their family members, but alas, Thistlestorm didn't see the use of family. Her mother and father didn't do much for her, in her opinions, and siblings? She rarely spoke to her siblings. Or... did this tomcat have a mate and a few flea-ridden vermin- kits? That was another possibility.

She decided to finally speak after she thought for a bit, "I see. So what you're telling me is that you only like talking to cats that are old and wrinkled and tell you weird stories? And family. Tsk, tsk. I don't talk to any of my family members. They're not very fun after you have to deal with manipulation and forced into being told over and over by your own mother that your father was nothing but a traitor and a mousebrain, being told that beauty should mean more than your own mental wellbeing, and I can't say much about my father on his behalf because, well, heh, he wasn't around very long for me to remember much of anything he told me, except that he wanted to take me away from my mother." Between anger and unnatural calmness she spoke, claws digging into the ground the entire way through.

The tom's claws dug into the ground at her words, her condescending, awful words. Driving back behind his mental walls, he curled his lip. Old, wrinkled cats who told him stories. This ungrateful wretch of a she-cat made it really hard to feel bad for her. Or even remotely tolerate her. A deep throated growl rumbled as the she-cat continued. ''So because your own family was messed up you have a right to say that everyone else's family was horrible? Think beyond yourself and your petty mind!''

''I'm sorry that your father left, that's horrible and no one should go through that, and I'm sorry that your mother made you think that beauty is the only thing that's important in this world, but neither of them were right. But you have no right to talk about your seniors nor your elders like that. Because some of us were raised by them.''

The walls came up, a defensive mechanism, and Timberwolf hid behind them, letting his anger take over and went into autopilot. He wanted to help her. He wanted to help her see how wrong her views were. Beauty was one of the last things he looked for in any relationship, friends, apprentices, mates. His eyes raised to lock with hers, and he trembled.

The massive tomcat let out a low growl. The emotions took over again. Damn you, Timberwolf. Damn. you. His thought proccess was rushed as he jumbled for a way. ''Your mother was wrong. Beauty may be something most cats strive for- Stars know why- but why do you want to be beautiful? For yourself? You already are beautiful, so there's that. For a mate? If someone loves you for how you look, then it's not true love. And just because your parents weren't the best doesn't mean that you should think beauty is all everyone else cares about.''

"Goodbye, love!" She waved back in fabricated happiness, then when he was gone she sighed and groaned as she turned in the opposite direction to see back to the catches she put down. Grabbing a bird she tore at the feathers irritably with her maw, ripping it to pieces already before she even took a proper bite. "Dustclaw.... so annoying.... " She muttered under her breath. "Tell the Clan we're mates... what a dumb idea...." She had better things to do than get told by every cat in the Clan how cute they were, how nice their kits would look, especially when she never loved him in the first place.

Almost sympathetically nodding, it was only when Mothflight inquired about his family that he jerked his head up, a snarl on his face. Walls up, he stood up abruptly, his bald tipped tail switching along the ground. ''Dead.'' He hissed softly through gritted teeth. Dead. Haha. No, they were very dead. ''Would you like to change the subject now?'' Maybe it wasn't fair of him to be this standoffish when she just opened up to him, but he couldn't help it, now could he? Lowering his head, he sighed hotly. ''Sorry. Didn't mean to snap.''

"I HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY WHAT A WANT!" She hissed, rage infesting her mind, her fur rising along with her tail and eyes, her emerald eyes dilating into shards of anger. "JUST BECAUSE EVERYONE GOT TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE THAN ME, JUST BECAUSE YOU GOT TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE THAN ME DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN CALL MY PARENT'S WRONG! THEY WEREN'T WRONG, YOU'RE WRONG!" She shouted, tears bursting all of a sudden. This. This wasn't something she felt before. Anger and sadness? This was definitely new, but she wasn't going to think about it, at all.

She had no one else besides her parents and Firethorn, her old Mentor. She treated everyone the way she treated them because of her parents, but she never once thought it was a bad thing. That they were wrong. Those tomcat was the first to tell her they were wrong. Everyone else she admitted her kithood to only did what she wanted them to; comfort her. Tell her everything was going to be okay. They always... addressed her, not her parents.

She suddenly stopped and her gaze dropped to the ground, maw slightly agape. This lingered for a few heartbeats, then she looked back up at the tomcat and murmured, "You have no right to say my parents were in the wrong."

And you have the right to insult the only cats he enjoys talking to? There's a reason he's getting frustrated with you, Thistlestorm.

No. Shut up. I'm allowed to say what I want. Everyone else can't.

"My mother taught me well. She was right. Only beauty matters. That is what I stand by every waking moment."

"My father loved me. He loved me so much he wanted to take me away from my mother. It was love...."

I need to say something, Timberwolf." She looked at him straight in his eyes, perfectly calm, and said "Is there any way you can help me find out why my memory is saying I should know your name?"
