ThunderClan: Life Before 2023's Sinkhole

A pair of small pointy ears pricked up as Brightkit heard Cinderstar's voice, and a little smile lit up her features. Oh, another meeting? The dull brown kit had found herself quite enjoying the last one, so she hoped that hadn't just been a fluke. So, same deal as last time, just find a cat who might need some company and go and sit with them.

Her bright green gaze quickly went over the camp, and one tortoiseshell pelt stood out to her. Briiiiiiiightpath... That was their name, probably. Finny that they shared the first part of their name. Either way, no one was talking to them right now, so she left the entrance of the nursery and steered right for the multi-colored cat. "Mind if I sit here?" She had a feeling she knew the answer, but the question and beaming smile were polite.

➣ As the young warrior awaited for the meeting to begin, a small unfamiliar voice caused their ears to perk up and they then turned to meet gazes with a kitten that had approached them. Oh! How long had she been standing there? Brightpath had never really interacted with kits before, but that didn’t mean that they disliked them whatsoever. “Of course! But are you sure you can see well enough all the way back here?” The lean tortoiseshell feline meowed, returning the polite smile that the molly wore on her muzzle. They were kinda sitting in the back of the crowd and thought kits and apprentices would be more keen on sitting towards the front. Brightpath hoped she wouldn’t think that was their way of trying to steer the kitten away. No, no, no. It was mostly them being taken back that anyone would want to sit near them, to be honest. They were often quite awkward.

Thrushfur swiftly entered below the willow with his feathery fur ruffled up irritated. Seeing Cinderstar overhead on the Thunderwillow reigning supreme like the Thunderclan leader she is. He licked his shoulder to soothe his tense thoughts. His ears direct to attentively listen to Cinderstar as she would conclude the meeting once the rest of his clanmates gather aroud. His blue eyes wavered around, the patters of paws echoing into his ears. His gave his chest a few quick licks to buy his time until Cinderstar would continue the meeting.

Crowkit came out of the nest he was laying on and scampered around until he caught his father's scent. Happily, Crowkit scampered over and poked the large tom with his nose in greeting. He didn't speak many words, but wanted to see and hear all his Clanmates for the first time.

"Dad!" he squeaked quietly.

The tom sprinted into the patrol place. Not only was he slowed down by the two apprentices' actions or rather inactions, but also by the... discovery he had made. Once he noticed Sparrowflight, he rushed towards her. "Sparrowflight! There's a body by the border, it's Dustclaw. There was also the scent of a rogue nearby, recent. I think the rogue killed him. He was covered in claw marks and blood. I didn't know if I should bring the body back to camp, he wasn't a ThunderClan warrior when he died, so I hid it. What should I- we do with the body?" his words spilled out. After he was done, he took a few deep breaths to calm down from the run back to camp. Then he continued with the report, voice still somewhat uneven, "Fleapaw and Swanpaw decided they had better things to do than mark the border, so they aren't aware of what I found." On one paw, Copperfire was glad Swanpaw didn't have to see that just yet. On the other paw, he was disappointed in the fact she had abandoned her patrol. This was definitely one of the most exciting patrols he had ever been on, sadly in one of the most negative ways he could think of.

~ Sparrowflight ~

Since their return from two-leg place, Sparrowflight had alternated between pacing, escaping to the territory to run off her nerves, or simply staring at the Thunderwillow from the safety of the warriors den. Cinderstar had said the next meeting, and she certainly hadn't delayed it longer than necessary...

Green eyes followed the silver bengal from her concealed point in the den with no small amount of trepidation. She could practically feel her heart beating out of her chest as her peers began to gather in the clearing, and she hoped none of them would be able to hear the frantic thumps that seemed to echo out from her body.

Forcing herself to her paws, the tan molly carefully schooled her face into a neutral expression before slowly padding to her spot at the base of the Thunderwillow. She pointedly avoided looking anywhere other than Cinderstar, and although her ear flicked in the direction of a rather hot-headed outburst from an apprentice it seemed that Nectarflame had a handle on it...

At least she hoped she did. She desperately wanted to avoid any issues during this meeting.

The tom dragged his tired feet through the bushes, the past moon had been difficult. His excuse was not great. It wasn't his place to leave the clan for so long, but he couldn't handle the stress. "Hello there Cinderstar, I apologize for my absence, but clan life can get to you sometimes." He dropped a large pheasant in front of her feet, "I hope this could make some of my misdeed up to you." The black cat sighed, he squeezed his eyes shut, he'd hope she'd understand.

~ Mistheart ~

Giggling slightly as the young apprentice bounced around and about her nest, Mistheart was already planning which spots to take the enthusiastic apprentice to first. Firefly Cove HAD to be their first stop if their declaration of love for shells was anything to go by. Then maybe she could bring them around to that tree where she'd learned to climb! It had a nice hollow in it, and might still have the remnants of a birds nest (if it wasn't already occupied again).

Crowpaw's sudden question snapped her out of her thoughts and an embarrassed flush of heat spread across her pelt as she realized she had never introduced herself to them.

"Oh uh, my name's Mistheart," she stated softly, bring down her excited energy level enough to offer them a polite dip of her head. "Sorry I didn't say it earlier, but um, it's lovely to meet you Crowpaw. You just came to Thunderclan recently, yes?"

Crowkit happily clambered onto Quailfur and began to bat at her ears, though he quickly lost his balance and toppled over to her side, landing in the moss bed. His green eyes gleamed with happiness and excitement, his tiny teeth were ready to bite into a random tail.

"Mouse-brain!" he repeated his first word, giggling, then moved on to the second word he's ever learned. "Momma!"

As she was looking towards Thrushfur and Fallowkit. She felt some weighr suddenly climb onto her. Seeing the thrilled Crowkit play with her ear made her purr. Her reflexes tingled when Crowkit lost his balance, she tried to quickly grab him by the scruff but missed. Her adrenaline kicked, but seeing that he was alright she let out a huge sigh of relief. Her ears ticked at the words thats squealed from Crowkits mouth. Where did he learn that? Her expression changed looking back towards Thrushfur with dead silence.

She was happy to see that her kits were finally able to speak short words from their father. But the first words that came out were mouse-brain. She scoffed as she tugged a smile onto her face.
