After having spoken to Spiderthroat, Bumblestar turned her attention to the clearing. It was starting to get a little later in the day, but surely they wouldn't mind the announcement. Didn't need to be a whole meeting about this, something brief would do.

"Yo, I want all of you out here to listen up!" she barked. "I've just been on patrol with Wolfpaw 'n Mudhound at Smallpines, 'n we ended up running into an ambush. A patrol of RiverClan cats tried to separate 'n kill us, so we ended 'em instead 'n took 'em back up to RiverClan where they belong.

"RiverClan's a mess. Larkstar doesn't have control, can't keep her cats in line - they were on the verge of tearin' each other apart right in front of me. 'N as much as I'd like to watch that happen, I don't trust 'em not to try somethin' else soon. So if you see any RiverClan warriors out by Smallpines, this is my official kill order. I don't care if they've crossed the scent-markers or not, you're free to take 'em out." Her ears were flat. "Everything they've done in the past, the poison, now this - they get to pay for it all with more of their own blood. Be my guest 'n tear up some pelts."

With a lash of her tail, Bumblestar moved to slip into her den, ready to just crash out.

[ TO CLARIFY: deliberately crossing the border in order to search for targets in RC territory is a HARD NO and will get you smited, but seeing a warrior by the border and going after them is fine. yes, this includes patrols. any invasions or targeting apprentices is strictly forbidden and will also earn you a hard smack courtesy of bumble ]

Wolfpaw doesn't waste time once the announcement was over. Now that they were home 'n away from immediate threat, his adrenaline was wearing off and he was exhausted. Blood still caked his paw from where he stabbed Salteye, and his leg and shoulder where he tried to lift the body. Hadn't had a chance to clean up.

What he really wanted was to curl up with Bumba, 'n he headed into her den to join her for nap time.

Fernwillow looked up from where she was eating, surprised at the sudden announcement. Bumblestar smelled like RiverClan... oh dear. It looked like things were finally being set in motion. The warrior resisted the urge to sigh, making a mental note to not bring Featherpaw anywhere near the Smallpines until they did more battle training. She did not want any part of the fighting unless it was necessary. She almost felt bad for Larkstar, knowing the young leader must be having a difficult time leading a bunch of crazy psychopaths.

Woofie had the right plan here as a downright exhausted Mudhound padded into the clearing and straight ignored the cats gathering to listen to Bumblestars explanation.

They looked rough, dog tired from carrying two corpses to riverclans camp and having to withstand the chaos once they arrived, coated in blood from the border fight, and with an ice crusted back leg that was kinda turning red as the mild frostbite sunk in.

The clan could draw their conclusions as any of Mudhounds loved ones would get a reassuring tired grin (and Wolfpaw got a final passing pat on the back as the maine coon mix departed) and the tripod just passed straight through and ducked into the medicine cats den mentally declaring the day over. If anyone needed them, Mudhound would be a useless lump until at least midday tomorrow.

Beachkit -

Beachkit peeked out of the den at Bumblestar's call but wished they'd slept through it. It felt like they were witnessing the aftermath of brutality (a sight too Mature for them, probably) and that was confirmed by the accompanying announcement. It didn't seem real, in a way. The notion they were under attack and ready to dish out retribution upon spotted RiverClanners at the border.

That'd be their future shortly. One ceremony later and they'd be at the mercy of the command to fight, ending up like a wounded patrol that'd walked in and sporting bloodstained paws like Wolfpaw.

The desire for comfort had them itching to talk to someone, if only to get out of their own head.
