The egyptian mau sighed lightly, before looking around at all the kits swirling around her. Noticing that Mothkit seemed to still be asleep, she decided to wait for her last son to wake up before giving them the news. She was mixed in her thoughts about how they would feel about those news. Maybe they would feel ashamed from their mother being ripped off a rank like this.. She feared that. She did not want to come off as a bad mother, and she already felt she had done so by not spending time with her kits. When she thought deeper about it, the demotion had done her more good than it had done bad. It had been a short three moons as deputy, and in those three moons, she had worked too hard. Harder than any deputy she had seen, if she should say so herself.
Peering over as Pearlkit seemed to settle down a little away from the others, Moondancer reached over and gently grasped her daughter by the neck, carrying Pearlkit over to her belly. "There we go, my love." She said kindly, and gave the small she-kit a few licks, checking if everything was alright with her mute daughter. She had figured it out lately. Pearlkit had never said a word, and didn't seem to be able to. But that didn't make Moondancer love her any less. She just hoped she would be able to learn how to understand her daughter's body language well enough to have a conversation with her. They would figure something out.. Right?
She hoped to from now on, be able to feed her own kittens by herself, and be able to play with them. She was hoping not to leave the nursery again before they became apprentices, and she knew she would be the first out and cheering loudly at them as they got their mentors. Oh dear, mentors.. Even though Moondancer had only spent about an hour with her kittens a day, she felt she had grown somewhat close to them. She prayed to StarClan that their mentors would be kind and understanding, especially Pearlkit's. She herself would find it a bit difficult, being given the task of mentoring a cat that could not speak, could not give questions. Even Silentkit was capable of doing so, as long as he wanted to. She felt that Mothkit, Speckledkit and Mintkit would have no problems with their mentors. They were all well spoken and energized whenever their moods were high.
As Ocelotpath entered the den, Moondancer's smile returned even wider. She knew she had not been able to spend much time with her mate, and hated herself for that as well. He deserved to have some time with her, but she had pushed him aside the last two months, in fear it might go out over her duties.
"Morning dear.. How are you doing?" She asked, feeling slightly awkward. She didn't know what to say! What was that for a kind of relationship with a mate.. They used to be close and everything, but deputy duties had almost stopped them.
The thought about taking a walk in the territory popped up in her mind again. It would both be good for Moondancer and Ocelotpath to get out and have some fun times again, but also for the kits to explore. And as long as they had their parents with them, they wouldn't get hurt.. Right? Moondancer was sure she'd keep an eye on them, and she had a feeling atleast two of them would keep close to her.
|
Ocelotpath's eyes once more scanned over all the kits and he gave a small half-smile to Silentkit before returning his gaze to Moondancer. The one good thing, dare he even think it, was that he would have more time to spend with his beloved mate. After all, he hadn't gotten to be around her very much recently. He felt as though it had been ages. True, it'd only been... what, half a moon or so? Since he had last seen her? But he had missed her so much in that short time. After all, the two of them didn't have forever to spend together. And, he felt like the whole relationship had been rushed. Though... maybe not. After all, they loved each other! And that meant they should spend the rest of their lives together, didn't it? While that might be considered a very naive outlook on life, it was how Ocelotpath had chosen to view it. Did it really matter how much other cats thought he was crazy? Well... technically, no, it didn't. The tom's tail twitched back and forth, a smile playing at the corners of his maw once more as he curled his tail about his paws. Being careful not to step on any of the kits who were all underfoot, he gingerly made his way over towards his mate.
"Are you doing okay?"
He asked in a low voice, speaking to her so that the younger cats wouldn't hear. They didn't need to hear their parents' entire conversation... he remembered as a kit while he had been well-aware that his parents were close, he'd never really known that they actually loved each other. He had barely known what love was! And, he doubted it was as strong as he loved his parents. As a warrior now, and having a mate and kits of his own, he now knew there was a difference between the love that he felt for Moondancer and the love that he felt for his kits. They were both his family. They were both important to him. And he would never be able to choose between him. Moondancer was a cat he could trust with anything and everything. She was the cat he wanted to be with for the rest of his life, his partner, his mate. And their kits? Their kits were a part of him. If anything happened to any one of them, it would be like a part of him had been taken away as well. And, he would do anything to keep that from happening. He could say the same for her. But, it would be like a part taken from him in different way. In a much, much different way.
And that was why he could never choose between them. His family or the Clan, that was an easier decision. Though it might be disloyal, he would choose his family. His family meant everything to him at this point. He wasn't quite ready to lose them. Absentmindedly, the tom curled his tail around her. Right now it didn't matter what had happened. Ocelotpath was just glad to get to spend some time with her. That was all he wanted to do right now, was spend some time and catch up with the feline. A competition, perhaps, as they had done before. Perhaps a fishing lesson; that might be fun.

Darkpaw looked at his older sister, and limped up, sitting next to her. His stumped paw was hung slightly above the ground, for obvious reasons. "What brings you here? Aren't you suppose to be working?" he asked, tilting his head to the side as he inquired. Sure, he didn't mind her being here, but it was odd, since she came in when she would normally be out working, having hardly anytime to spend with her family. Sadly, he wished he could run around with her, but his paw made that near to impossible.

No, that couldn't have been it. He wasn't the adventurous type. Silentkit didn't like going on adventures and he much preferred to stay safe and sound in the warmth of the nursery. The thought suddenly came back to him as to why he had come out here in the first place. He had wanted to see the clearing! That's right! "I wanted to see the clearing. I wanted to know if it really is as cool as everyone else says it is," Silentkit whispered. Looking around, he just had to wonder, did he like it? Was it really like what everyone else said? With a quick scan of the camp clearing, he could conclude that it was quite nice. Seeing everyone busy and bustling was almost a comfort to him. To know that his clanmates were he to protect him and his family was somewhat comforting, despite the fact that he didn't like socialising with anyone. However, the volume of it was way too loud for the young kit. He hated loud noises and with everyone talking all at once, he had the problem of aching ears.
The kit was perfectly fine when he was near his family, they weren't as loud. His parents especially. He loved his parents. There were no two cats who he would rather be the kit of. He was happy and extremely fond of them. He had to admit, he was quite clingy to his parents. He loved them and he urged for their protection. When nothing was ever going right for him, the kit could just turn to his parents and everything would get better. It was like they had magical powers that could suddenly take away all the bad things in his life. It amazed him to be honest. Silentkit knew that his mother only had little time to spend with him and his siblings, but he always made the most of the time that he had with her. As he thought about it, he realised that his father didn't seem to be visiting as often. Was something wrong? The kit considered asking him, but quickly decided against it. Looking at Ocelotpath, the tom looked fine so the young tom kit decided not to question his father.
Silentkit quickly shook his head head in response. "Everything's fine," he whispered to Ocelotpath. Everything was fine. Nothing was wrong. The young kit didn't have many problems in his life. Perhaps it was because he didn't socialise much. Having chosen not to socialise much with other, Silentkit found himself much more free of problems than his littermates. He didn't have to deal with disagreements in games and all those other little details. Sitting in the nursery doing nothing but watching others, the kit often felt bubbles of envy forming in him as he watched his littermates play with other cats. It wasn't envy that he couldn't play with other kits. Oh no, he found little interest in playing with those who weren't his family. It was envy that he didn't even have the bravery to at least talk to someone. Another emotiom he sometimes felt was anger. Anger at those who played with his littermates. He wasn't being selfish and saying that his littermates should only play with him, but he just wanted at least someone to stay with him and play. He already had no friends, so why did everyone have to take away his siblings as well?
A small yet warm smile started to form on his maw as Ocelotpath bent down so he could be at the level he was at. Moving forward, Silentkit started to climb up his father's neck. After a bit of struggling, the spotted kit finally reached his destination of the top of Ocelotpath's head. He snuggled down into his warm fur, clingy on tightly in case he were to fall off. "I've slayed the badger so now i'm ShadowClan's new leader!" Silentkit whisper-shouted playfully. Whilst he found no interest in playing with other clanmates, he was always ready to play with his family.
|
Lifting his head slowly so that the kit was soon in the air, though still clinging onto his head, a playful smile formed on Ocelotpath's maw. "All hail Silentstar!" He called in a quiet voice. Ocelotpath loved playing with his kits, but lately... it wasn't right for him to be visiting the nursery alone. It felt strange, and different. After seeing all the queens and their mates together and then him being alone-- well, not alone exactly, there was always Jaysong, but that felt strange-- it wasn't right at all. Lowering his head again so that Silentkit could climb off, Ocelotpath eyed the entrance to the territory out of the corner of his eye. Hmm... the tom's thoughts slowly began to travel in that direction. After all-- it couldn't hurt to just explore a little, right? Besides, every kit needed to sneak out once in their life. It was just part of kithood, sneaking out into the territory, doing stupid things, laughing and playing with other kits... that was another thing that bothered Ocelotpath, he hadn't once seen Silentkit playing with kits his own age other then his siblings. And, he wondered how he would do when he became an apprentice. Was he going to get along alright? Was he going to be able to make friends?
Ocelotpath already knew that if he needed to, he would take care of the bullies himself. No one was going to bother his son while he was around! But, he also knew dealing with bullies was part of life. Perhaps someday he would be ready to let go and let Silentkit do it by himself... though, not for a long, long time. It would appear that the first kits were always the hardest to let go of. He wondered if it was always going to be this way. Lowering his head once more so that he was level with the younger tom once more, Ocelotpath's hues flashed with a warm, mischievous light. "Hey, Silentkit... has your Mom ever told you about the territory?" He asked. Now, with Moondancer being deputy and everything, he doubted that she had really mentioned much about how beautiful it was. She probably didn't want to tempt them. Not only that, but he doubted she really approved of their kits sneaking out. Then again-- remembering what she was like, he second guessed that. All the same he was planning on taking Silentkit out into the territory... it was so pretty out there at this time of year, and as long as the younger cat stayed close, he should be perfectly safe.
Nothing was going to happen! "Because it's absolutely beautiful out there right now. And quiet, too... a lot quieter then out here. And, it's a lot of fun. What do you say? You want to go out there with me?" Ocelotpath asked, his own hues flashing with amusement and interest. He wanted Silentkit to want this... though he wasn't actually quite sure why. After all, it wasn't so important that the tom want to sneak out. It was probably better, really. Perhaps he just wanted Silentkit to have the kithood that he thought every kit should have. And, maybe he was trying too hard. Maybe he was forcing himself a little harder then he should. But, maybe he was doing this perfectly... and that was what he was aiming for. To be the perfect parent.
Her words took Lynxfrost by surprise. Would he like to go hunting? Well, yes... he would love it. But he wasn't sure why she was suddenly so nervous around him. They were friends! Weren't they? He was hoping they were, otherwise that would make the tom feel very lost... so far, he had been feeling a little left out from the rest of the Clan. After all, being the tom sitting in the corner didn't exactly make him popular. But, Lynxfrost had never been one for popularity. "Me? Really? I-I-I mean... sure?" His voice sounded more like he were guessing. Heat instantly flew to his ears and he looked down at the ground, swallowing lightly. This was awkward. Perhaps it would be good to get out of the clearing, get away from the staring eyes of the other cats who appeared to have nothing better to do then to stare at him and want him to do something. Why did cats always feel like they needed to pry into everyone else's business? Couldn't they keep their minds on their own conversations? Thankfully, Lynxfrost wasn't a hypocrite like some cats when it came to this type of thing; he always kept out of other's conversations. There was no point in listening to someone else's conversation, what was he supposed to do with that? Tell someone else what he had overheard? Spread more gossip over the Clan? No-- what someone was entrusting to another cat should stay with that cat. "Let's get out of here," He muttered in a low voice, ears going backwards as he glanced over at the she cat.

Re: ShadowClan Nursery
Ashkit attacked the bulrushes viciously. It tore into two at the strength of his claws, and his mother Goldenheart purred with amusement.
"Any cat would think you've been fighting a WindClan warrior! Just look at your pelt." It was matted with twigs, and Ashkit's sister Silverkit wriggled from her mother's belly to pick one off.

(oh yeah @ Ashley/Kestrel @ Spirit @ Raine)
*let’s just time skip a little*
Mistkit came two around sun-down later that day. She had a major headache, and her shoulder felt like it had been ripped out and shoved back in upside down. Her dull eyes took in her full surroundings as she weakly rose her head. She was in the medicine cat den, she recognized it from when she had gotten a thorn stuck in her paw once. Kestralberry had yet to notice her awakening, neither had her mother. She was still curled up in the soft pelt she could now match the smell too. He nose was still clotted with blood she could only assume was from the line of herbs across her forehead, presumably covering a gash. How she could tell? The smell of herbs is so pungent anyone could recognize it.
Huh, she hadn't died, she was still in Shadowclan. That meant she was back with her mom and, of course, her older sister. She wondered what Moondancer was doing right now. Was she worried? Probably not, she never is afraid of anything. She would have know she would pull through all along. She would be happy though, right? Moondancer loved her, of course she would be happy.
Well, whatever. No matter what, she was alive, and she was lucky.
(Urghhh the rant is longer that the post.. Idk. Maybe we could just have a few more posts the scoot her off to the nursery? I would time skip two months just to catch up with Moondancer’s kits, just cause I made Misty for Moondancer’s finder thing and I want to be like ‘yep, cooler older aunt over here! be jelly y'all!)
|
(Ahhh! I'm so sorry about your loss! I hope everything is going well for you and your family! <3)
Paws kneading the earth as he gazed around the den uneasily, forest green hues focusing on Jaysong, before moving to finally rest on Mistkit. An itch burned in his paws, shuffling uneasily. No. He held back the urge to somberly walk over to the kit, press his paws and ears to her chest- to hear the cold, hard truth of death. To hear silence- to repeat the same set of dire procedures he had done many times in the past moons. Though, with Kestrelberry's eyes burning on her pelt, a breath of relief fell from his lips as he could make out the kitten's form raising and falling steadily with each breath.
Quiet scuffling could be heard as he slowly unraveled his tail from around himself, creeping towards the wounded kitten quietly as he dipped his broad cranium down to examine the kit- nostrils flaring as he sniffed her herb-coated form. No signs of infection, it seemed. Paw raised, he gently shook her form, exhaling as he mumbled. "...Mistkit? Are you awake..?"

Jaysong swept her tail away from her daughters shoulders to darkpaws with a soft purr. "She takes time to see us. You didn't expect her to take some time?!" she meows with a fake sense of alarm before withdrawing her tail and curling around her paws and hind legs. "She will always make time to see us. Like you will when you find the special she cat on your life. When your darkstar" meows the elderly queen getting up and shuffling over in order for ocelotpath to scoot in next to her daughter.

Redpool leaped up in shock, his head back as he gazed worriedly at Harethorn. “You alright?” he asked, his voice unusually soft and gentle, and his yellow eyes wide.

Cloverwhisker thought about it for a moment she slowly nodded her head yes "Yes, but first I must tell Halestar what happened...". She sighed softly. The small deputy turned and walked towards the leaders den.
