RiverClan Leader's Den

[Dirtfur]

Dirtfur feels unease, staring inside of the leader's den. It was clear that the anxious tom hasn't came into the leader's den before. Dirtfur inhales deeply and exhales as he went in
"Fallenstar, is it okay if I have a word with you?" said the tom, staring at the leader for a response, his eyes showing a bit of anxiety and a bit of confidence at the same time.

Fallenstar looked behind him as he heard the fronds to the entrance of the den rustle, and hesitant pawsteps echo in the empty den. Mostly empty that was. It was just him. The leader was propped up against the wall, using his front two paws, he was standing on his hind legs. He was shoving leaves and mud in a crack. Why? he'd never tell.

"Of course Dirtfur, what is it?" the tom huffed out, dropping down heavily onto the stone ground beneath them.

Dirtfur didn't understand why his leader shoved leaves and mud in a crack, but that's not what brought him here. I would like a warrior's duty, Fallenstar." Dirtfur bowed down to the elder cat. "It is my responsibility as a warrior to do such work, is it not, Fallenstar?" Dirtfur glances at the leader, waiting for a respond.

The leader quirked a brow, "And as a warrior, it is your duty to do those without being told, is it not?" he countered. "You already know what you're supposed to do, and if you aren't I'm positive Lionstorm's telling you what you're supposed to be doing." after a pause he let out a sigh and tilted his head to the side. "Dirtfur, what exactly do you mean?"

Dirtfur glances around, feeling embarrassed what he will say next. He knows what he supposed to do, but he doesn't want to admit to the leader how he felt being useless. Turning back and telling Fallenstar "never mind" doesn't seemed like a good idea. The dirt colored tabby cat breathed in and meowed to the leader, "Foolish this may sounds, but I mean that I feel useless to this clan, Fallenstar." the tabby cat sighed.

The tom's ears swiveled forwards as his warrior spoke. He felt his stomach churn, uncertanty flickering in his heart. What was he supposed to say? "hey you're doing great? No need to feel like that?" Wouldn't that be hypocritical of him? He's in the exact same boat as Dirtfur. What was he doing for his clan, other than bringing in some other clan, who also just so happened to drive them out of their own territory, and take one of his warriors and make him deputy.

Fallenstar avoided the toms gaze for a few moments, unsure of what to say. How does one bring up another's spirits? What does someone say? "You're bringing food to this Clan, helping us prepare for Leaf-Bare. Tell me, how is that useless?" he finally said. Lapis gaze raking up from the floor to the other tom. "You're helping. Keeping us healthy and well fed along with your other clanmates."

Finally, the old leader’s maw opened up. The tabby didn’t think of that, of course he is helping by bringing the fresh-kill to his clanmates! “You’re right Fallenstar,” Dirtfur bowed his head. His gaze took off of the old leader and planted on the crack that was filled with wrinkled leaves and mud. The tabby warrior would ask, but the curiosity might kill this cat. Eyes was still on the narrow crack then looked back Fallenstar as if he is expecting some kind of answer.

"No. Nothing else to discuss about, Fallenstar," the warrior assured, either to him or the leader. "Thank you very much. May StarClan be with you." he meowed, turning away to exit the leader's den.

Fallenstar watched the warrior turn away and make his way out. 'Surely not all of my warriors are feeling this way, right?' he pondered to himself. Maybe it was because Leaf-Bare was coming up. They were rather large, and that meant more mouths to feed. Surely they were all feeling just as stressed as he was.

The ebony tom went back to his corner of the den, pondering. 'What could I do...to boost morale?'
