“I wanted it gone, so I squashed it!” He was glad it had died. He had thrown the worm at her afterwards, grumpily.

"It was still moving after you squished it. I still don't understand it. Do worms live after you squish them?", she meowed. She was so confused on how worms worked. She would never want to be one. She hated dirt. That worm just so happened to be on the surface from the rain.

Flowerfern frowned in a joking way. She couldn't help but laugh again. "Do you also remember that time when hunting I scared away your prey on accident. I was so clumsy.", she meowed. Now she was able to keep her balance. She would flop over all the time.

The world was bright and stars where shining in the evening sky and as such, Birdkit had managed to hop out from the nursery and into the clearing. The white and brown kitten's eyes were wide with wonder as she stared at the blinking white circles of stars in the sky and she just... stared. Sat and watched carefully. It was beautiful. But... but beauty could not be allowed in a world that was filled with blood and with strength. Beauty was not strength. Or at least, that was what Birdkit had gotten from how their leader and deputy acted. None were beautiful, not as beautiful as the stars.... no one would ever match the beauty of the stars, but she couldn't let those distract her.

Despite how much she wanted to sit and stare, she had to be strong. Had to practice strength, and had to make sure nothing fell apart. By imitating others, she would fit in. She would not be strange and she would not be in risk of being killed or being thrown out... or at least that was what Birdkit believed, having had seen too many executions with her own eyes at the meetings lately. Do not break the laws... do not be weak... and you would live. And that was the principles the young she-cat was going to live by. "Bye bye stars. I have to be strong. I cannot be strong with you. So, bye bye," she whispered into the night.
