Applepaw hated feeling scared in the place she called home, but shivers raced up and down her spine. Her good eye whipped back and forth, each and every shadow looking alive until she passed it. Even with their leader at the helm and two other denmates next to her, she couldn't help but feel a trickle of dread. Once upon a time she had loved training and looked forward to it! But this was her first time in the territory, since Falconglare hadn't shown her around, and though she knew the coyotes had been chased away, she was down an eye and ear.

Rainywhisker had taken off the bandages a few days ago, but Applepaw still hadn't seen her new reflection. The horror that briefly danced in the eyes of her Clanmates told her all she needed to know. There was just an empty socket where her left eye used to be, and her left ear had been reduced to shreds, no longer serving any useful purpose.

But she had to put that aside. She had been reassigned to Buckstar. Buckstar. So mustering up a smile, Applepaw straightened her position, her good eye shining. "Here!" she chirped. She would just have to train harder.

"That's okay." Gingerpaw was relieved that the session was over. He was already pretty tired. "Can you walk okay?"

"Yeah," Stormpaw tried to walk and found that as long as she made her hurt leg stiff while she walked, it didn't really hurt.

In spite of the situation, Gingerpaw struggled to suppress his laughter at the way she walked. He hurried beside her. "You can lean on me if you need," he offered.

Stormpaw nodded gratefully and leaned on Gingerpaw. They made slow progress back to camp, but it didn't hurt Stormpaw to walk, so it was worth it.

By the time they reached camp, Gingerpaw was beginning to have trouble supporting Stormpaw and was relieved when the entrance came into view. "Whew," he gasped. "If you're okay from here, I'll leave you alone. Thanks for training with me."

Valleypaw followed Buckstar into the training cave, a purpose to her step. She was excited to be training under the leader, but she also wanted to prove herself to him. And that started here, with the very first training session. "Here," She clipped, standing near Applepaw.

(Sure.) Stormpaw nodded and started to walk with nothing to support her. She found that it didn't hurt as much now.

The brown and white tom strode into the open space in front of the Training Cave. He took in a long, deep breath of the fresh air before turning to face the three apprentices who had hopefully followed him out, his eyes bright. "Okay! Is everyone here?"
