Sorrelblaze listened to Birdsnow with a heavy heart. He bit down on his tongue, holding his breath as she spilled the news. So it was true? They were medicine cat-less and leaderless? The corners of his muzzle fell, ears drooping. He was lowered his head in respect for his lost comrades. He hoped that if they didn't make it out there, they were at least in the paws of StarClan now.

When Cherryswirl spoke out, his head raised with interest. "I'd like to participate in the search, if I may."

Swanbite silently lurked from the back of the crowd, slowly trailing the outskirts of her Clan with feathery tail swaying gracefully behind her. Well, well, well...what a shame! Looks like Miss Larkstar wasn't cut out for the job after all. Pity. She would have liked to see more of the new leader, but it seemed like RiverClan really couldn't keep a leader even if it were handed to them by StarClan themselves. Birdsnow, on the other paw...she was still here, and Swanbite admired that about her. The added tail-flick toward the exit, too, oooh! Feisty! She could work with her. Oh yes. How she was supposed to work with the rest of her Clan, though? That will take time...and she may have to narrow down the competition. If Birdsnow wouldn't directly exile these problem-makers, then she would gratefully exile them herself. RiverClan is in dire condition...desperate measures must be made.

"You have my loyalty, Birdsnow." Swanbite called out to her new leader, fiery eyes glittering with her tail held high, chest puffed with pride. This is where it gets good.

The ragdoll stared down at the gathered cats, remembering a time when if a deputy called a meeting, there would be loud outbursts of concern for the leader. But this time was a bit different, and while she appreciated no one having total meltdowns, she wished that they would show more care for the leader that put her heart and soul into the Clan. Oh well.

"I was out looking for Tansypaw this morning and I didn't find anything but a faint scent trail heading to the outskirts. She seems to have left the Clan, based on what I heard, I don't expect her to come back. We can hope, I know I sure will, but based on some circumstances that I will discuss later, it's unlikely."

She sighed softly, breath trembling as she exhaled but then she slid back beneath the mask of strength. "I'm sure you're all wondering where Larkstar is. While I was looking for Tansypaw, I also found bloodstains, clumps of fur and Larkstar's scent by the border with the Outskirts. I looked for her for a few hours, venturing into the outskirts, and I didn't find her." The only sign of the deputy's discomfort was a paw shuffling on the cold stone, but she still refused to sit. Standing was more intimidating, and that was what she was going for.

"I don't believe Larkstar would have left willingly or without a fight. In hopes that she will return to us, I won't travel to the StarCave for a week. I would wait longer, but RiverClan can't afford to stand idle. Larkstar was a great cat and growing to be a strong leader, and in the event she doesn't return to us, she will be deeply missed."

Allowing things to remain silent for a moment, letting cats get their shock settled a bit and trying to catch young Wingpaw's eye, in a faint attempt to send the poor young calico a bit of comfort if she could. He had lost so many. But she had more to say- a lot more to say, and so she would say it.

Her neck fur was rising slightly and she forced it down. "Tansypaw left and most of our herbs are gone or destroyed. Tansypaw was a child with the weight of a Clan on her shoulders, sometimes healing cats who could have avoided injury. She was bullied by some of you instead of treated with patience and respect that she deserved, and while withholding healing completely wasn't the ideal decision and things could have been handled differently, we don't have a medicine cat anymore because some of you decided that bullying a young cat was better than improving your behavior or talking to her calmly." Tansypaw might have made some less than ideal decisions, but she put her paw down, and Birdsnow commended her for that.

Taking a deep breath to finish up, she rubbed her temples, looking down at everyone. "I get that a lot of you doubt me, and for some reasons you're completely valid and understood, and I'm doing my best to prove myself. I love this Clan, and I'm going to drag it back to where it used to be, but I can't do it alone. I'm not going to drag you all kicking and screaming back to full strength, everyone needs to want it too. I would think that we all want RiverClan to succeed, but that's not going to happen if we're picking fights with other Clans and undermining authority and causing problems. I'm going to do all I can to lead this Clan to prosperity, but I can't do it without support. So if you're not going to help this Clan, then please spare the rest of us the pain and leave."

Actually. She just needed a few friends and she could rule the world if she had to, but it would be so much easier if cats stopped being problems. "Some of you have been wonderful assets, and I want to thank those of you who have been helpful and loyal, but others have been very much unmotivated and problematic. You will not treat me the way some of you treated Larkstar. If you're not going to be valuable to the Clan, if you're going to cause me problems, if you're going to disrespect me or undermine me, there's the exit in case you didn't hear the first time." She lashed her tail to the camp entrance, tone calm but rock-solid. She had some more... guidelines, if you would, but she figured that cats would need some time to let that sink in and respond.

She kept her voice even, she wasn't one to lose her temper but she was upset and frustrated and stressed out, so her voice heated up and coolled and grew strained as she spoke at some points.

Smolderpaw's eyes slightly filled with tears. Was this his fault? Was his behavior what drove them out? No... It couldn't have been. Treestripe and Eaglecall both looked worriedly at each other.

her stomach dropped, nausea overcoming her. this couldnt be real. tansypaw up and left? larkstar gone? what was going to happen to riverclan?
how could they survive leafbare with no healer and structure?
a faint whistle stung in her ears and the cold air making her eyes water. this couldnt be it- it was just starting to get better-

unfocussed eyes searching around the crowd. for what, she wasnt sure.

tansypaw and larkstar gone. up and gone. riverclan was falling to pieces.
he should be ashamed his thoughts had immediatly led him to the possibility of leaving the clan or trying to join another one. maybe shadowclan.
he stopped. was is worth trying to save this? would he be horrible if he left his clanmates to fend for themselves so he wouldnt have to see them all die of starvation? maybe this was a losing battle and the best thing to do was grab whoever was dear to him and get the hell out of here. but he wasnt one for losing. and even less so for running away. hed stay and fight for the younger cats' future. all the innocent kits that were born into a broken clan. they didnt deserve this. there was no way he'd run and leave them all to die.

NO. What in the name of StarClan was going on!? So many leaders lost, medicine cats, lost, lives, lost. He felt almost lost in this, all of these things. He tried to look on the bright side about it, but there wasn't a way. What if we lost Birdsnow!? he thought, We wouldn't have a leader!
But still he said, "I trust you with our clan, Birdsnow, and be loyal to you until the day I join StarClan"
Why did cats treat Tansypaw like that?
Why did Larkstar leave?
Why is everything not ok!?
He walked in circles to try and cool it all off but it wasn't working, nothing was working, nothing was okay.

The warriors green eyes landed on the pacing apprentice, their strides quick and miscalculated.

Deerspark furrowed his brow in worry. He fought with himself as he tried to decide whether he should comfort them or give them some time. He decided to help. He'd have to get used to helping if he wanted to get this clan back together.

He began to pad towards Winterpaw, recognizing the apprentice due to their grey striped pelt. It contrasted greatly to the pearly white snow.

"Hey," he said, his voice filled with concern. "You alright, bud?"

Riverheart, who was sitting next to Echoheart gasped in shock. Larkstar, dead? Tansypaw, gone? How could this happen? And who would ever bully some poor cat..? She took a minute to grieve the losses before looking back up at Birdsnow.

Echoheart gasped as well, then shook her head. Again, she’d do anything she could to help Riverclan’s leader, whoever it may be. She padded up to Birdsnow. “I’m here to support you. I’ll help you in any way you need.” Echoheart said quietly. She wanted to let the leader know she’d be there whenever she was needed.

Summer’rose gasped in shock and turned away from the meeting for a minute, unable to process the grief that was losing Tansypaw and Larkstar.

Hailpaw scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Who cares.” He said, scoffing.

Fawnkit quivered in fear as she heard her leader and med cat were gone. She was unsure what to do so she whimpered and moved closer to her older brother, Hailpaw.

Weepingpaw lifted his tail shakily. "I-i can help...w-with medicine duties.... I u-used to watch Tansypaw a-alot and ask m-my friends and f-family what was on there w-wounds and why..... I-i have basics down...." Weepingpaw shakily mewed, afraid of getting made fun of. As the blind top looked straight ahead, not exactly sure about where his new assumed leader was

...What...? Larkstar...was missing? No...no, that couldn't be! She couldn't have disappeared as well! His sister, his brother...both gone? H-how could it be?! A choked cry escaped Falconflight's maw at the news and he found himself almost collapsing to the ground in shock but managed to hold himself. S-she was gone...the thought made his head spin violently and he felt like throwing up but he knew it wouldn't help to he sucked it up and focused his gaze on the ground to try and comprehend what he'd just been told.

'Lark is gone...' he had sworn to protect her after the death of their brother, Falconfeather, but now...he'd failed. He'd failed and he'd have to live with the consequences for the rest of his life...their was nothing to do about that...

Holding back tears he turned to Cherryswirl. A search party? It wasn't even a question that he'd join to find Larkstar...and Tansypaw, though right now his sister was his top priority. "I'll come." his voice came out weaker than he wanted it to but he didn't care, and he didn't care if Birdsnow gave permission to look for her or not he was going to find her.

No. No, no no. This… this couldn’t be true. This had to all be a misunderstanding, right? Fallowswirl sat ridged, feeling the cold tendrils of shock weave their way through her body and to her heart. They couldn’t lose another leader… Not Larkstar, who had worked so hard for the clan, to bring it back to its former glory. And Tansypaw, oh, Tansypaw… If only Fallowswirl had seen what was going on, maybe she could have helped the young medicine cat in some way. She’d had no idea Tansypaw had been bullied and taunted. Who would do that to such a young, inexperienced cat?!
This was all going wrong. Everything was wrong. But Fallowswirl refused to let everything that was going on take her down. Her Clan needed her and everyone one of their warriors now more than ever. And so, she forced herself to stand and add address Birdsnow.

“Birdsnow, I am… beyond shocked at these all these losses. If there is anything we can do, hell, if there’s anything I can do, please do not hesitate to reach out. You shouldn’t have to carry this weight alone”

With a respectful dip of her head, Fallowswirl sat back down. She wasn’t sure if it was her place to speak up at a time like this, but honestly? She didn’t know what else to do. She felt so… so out of control that she had to do something. Say something. Even if it did nothing, she had to make it clear she would still be fighting.
