Oddear frowned, concern making his brow furrow forwards as his lips thinned. He stood, tail low as he cleared his throat, "Brindlejaw, ( @Shimm ) I think I can speak on a large amount of cats behalf that we truly, truly thank you for your service to the clan... Facing the sorrows and horrors you've no doubt seen as a deputy are life altering. The moon blesses you, you won't be forgotten,"

With that, Oddear dipped his head, taking his seat again. It was a saddened day, no doubt the night would cloudy as his lady moon would weep her sorrows. a charge of rank was sadly common, but that didn't mean it had to be sad...

Whatever, whomever, bloomed from this would become a beauty of their own.

Oddear’s words gave her courage and Heathernose too stood. She flicked her tail nervously, still feeling odd from all of the emotions and nerves of the days prior but she felt she had to do this for her friend. Now was the time when he needed her the most and she couldn’t let him down. Clearing her throat, Heathernose spoke.

“Brindlejaw, if I might go off of what Oddear said, you have served this clan with all of you and I personally thank you for that. You have earned respect and have given it to all and we as a clan have been truly lucky to have worked with you as our deputy. I know that you will continue to be nothing but an asset to our clan in any role you take. Thank you.”

She had started shaking a bit while speaking but she had never broken eye contact. Hopefully, Brindlejaw had felt her sincerity. With a small smile, Heathernose returned to her seat and wrapped her tail over her paws sheepishly, hoping someone else talked soon.

“Of course,” Rosepaw purred, her leaf-green gaze gently leaving her mother and fixing on the lilac-gray shape of their leader, Twilightstar. She nodded in agreement at her mother’s words. “We’re so pretty yet skilled, and value our Clanmates... as long as they are pure of blood and the only deformities or scars that they may have come from honorable fights and battles, but not in abundance.”

Featherwhisker smirked, "Quite right. I honesstly don't know why Twilightstar keeps letting those sorry excuses for cats into our clan" she tsked, slowly shaking her head. she fixed her eyes on the leader as she announced brindlejaws stepping down as deputy, "You know, I wouldn't mind being deputy. It has it's perks, you know" she purred, closing her eyes to imagine herself as Twilightstars second in comand, the one that got to boss cats around as she pleased.

Stormstrike cocked her head in confusion, 'brindlejaw stepped down?' she thought, her eyes slightly widening. She kind of saw this coming, but she didn't expect for it to happen so soon.

Wolfbounds ears burned with a sort of sadness, Brindlejaw hadn’t been amazing but he had been a deputy and a father. As the overall shock of the situation died down she felt her tail settle gently round her paws. She thought perhaps she could add her own two cents of encouragement but she’d only been stern to the deputy. Quite quite stern. She bent her neck to lick at her chest fur. She would leave it for another time, perhaps a more private thank you was due.

Though as she was thinking on this she heard a voice from behind her, something that didn’t quite sit right in her belly. “FEATHERWHISKER” The she cat yowled her head whipping around to meet the gaze of the queens. “Why don’t you take your big fat mouth and SHUT IT. I can’t believe you’d have the audacity to speak of Brindlejaw so lowly. And to than only think of his role as a perk” the warrior spat narrowing in on her and her daughter. ”you bring nothing but shame to this clan you foxheart!” she snapped fur bristling along her spine.

Coyotesnarl was leaned up against the shoulder of his den. He’d seen Oddear sitting there and debated going to join him but he wasn’t in the mood. Twilightstar had not told him of this yet, had he not reserved the right to know? Being as they would be going at this taking care of windclan thing together. His tail gave an agitated flick.

Nonetheless this wasn’t actually about him. This was about Brindlejaw, he was stepping down. That’s what mattered. He supposed it was fit of him to speak up to Brindlejaw but he also couldn’t quite string the words together, at least not into anything nice.

Ugh, great - more of those nuisance nursery swines. Just what Leopardbite needed. Pulling back her lips in a vicious snarl, the cashmere bengal shot a quick, sidelong glare over in the direction of the queen and her kits. "And who do you think you are to tell me what to do?" she growled. "Thornkit here" - Leopardbite gestured with her tail at the dusty brown she-kit - "isn't even mine. Clingy mess just keeps following me around. And if you love her so damn much, then why don't you go ahead and adopt her yourself, hm?"
