It was hard to reconcile one of Mudhounds core values of 'what will be, will be. You have to accept that and not dwell' with such a painful event that was the tripods fault. This was their failure and a kitten was dead because of that. Why had they assumed someone else was watching, why had they not been able to act fast, stop the hawk before they grabbed her, caught up to the kitten- just anything!

Bumblekit was probably dead, dropped and shattered on the ground or devoured by the hawk and involuntarily the tripod wondered who here was grieving because of them. How pathetic were they to be acting like this out of guilt when others were more deserving of sympathy.


The rather cruel thought to themself cause another sob and two shaking paws reached up to wrap around Redhawk and cling to her, burying their face in her fur. Everything felt like it was falling apart but for Redhawk, Spottedfire's existence small and not there but somehow overwhelming as an example, but Redhawk was here and soft and warm. This was all too real but the russet molly was realer in a kinder way, and muffled against her fur the tripod managed to speak.

"B-but it is my fault Red. I should've noticed, I shouldve saved her. I failed her like I failed my Lotuspaw and how can I be trusted with any young cat if I cant stop a stupid bird from hurting them.
I-I dont even deserve to mourn this is my fault. Oh Bumblekit Im so sorry little one."


Distantly the hornet could hear and see Bumblestar organizing the clan and planning a patrol, still sheltered and curled around Redhawk as a sort of blanket against the world. But the leader needed them, this Mudhound understood even as they flinched at the snapped order and the hornet nodded shakily, though was pained by the idea.
They just couldnt see how this was anything but the retrieval of a corpse and wasnt certain they could handle seeing Bumblekits little body, even if they owed it to them to lay them to rest. It was just too new, too raw, and the hawk had flown into riverclan besides and after the raid there was no way they'd allow the thunderclan patrol to look. It just felt hopeless, so hopeless so even as they did nod it was clear by their body language they wouldnt manage the act without Redhawk.

It was by her care that the sobs had quieted and the two would not be parted. It was Redhawks support that'd allowed the tripod to speak, a still choked and quiet "O-ok, Ill go. But Redhawk can come too right? I-I need her. W-w'ere gonna need more warriors if we dont wanna wait for a riverclan escort anyways, the h-hawk too Bumblekit right into the middle of their territory." One of the worst places the bird couldve gone, considering recent events.

Alpinekit suddenly looked up as soon as the kit screamed. She spotted the leader with Redhawk and Mudhound. She shrieked in fear as she heard that a hawk carried Bumblekit. The young molly ran to Echopaw and Wisppaw. She nervously looked around at the sky, searching for birds of prey.

Weepingwillow raced to her leader's side. "Bumblestar! I'll go if you'd like." She said, her voice filled with worry at the small kits disappearance.

mosskit pushed a bunch of moss into a pile and started putting it in small piles and then he turned around and got into a crouch. "okay berrypaw" mosskit said in the most adult voice he could muster "we have to watched the battle from here, and make sure the herbs are ready for use!" he mewed as he wiggled a little.

Riversong sprang up from where they had been dozing. There was never a dull day in ThunderClan, they supposed. They furiously shook the sleep from their eyes and padded up to Bumblestar, alert and ready. “I’ll come with you,” they grey cat rasped. “You can never get enough warriors.” Internally, Riversong wasn’t so sure. They looked at the rather small patrol, taking note of the two apprentices who wanted to join. Well, it was Bumblestar’s choice anyways. What mattered now was finding Bumblekit as soon as possible.

Brokenmoon immediately perked up. "I'll go" he hoped he was in time, they needed to find Bumblekit ASAP. This wouldn't be easy.

Orangetwist's ears perked and swiveled as Bumblestar shouted out to the Clan. She hustled over, listening in silent terror as the leader relayed the news. A kit, taken by a hawk. Attacked, but not downed. She flinched when what seemed like every cat in the clearing replied to Bumblestar's request for help. "Oh dear, oh dear..." she mumbled, shuffling her paws. No, no, she must stay positive -- there was still a chance they would retrieve the poor kit. Yes, she reassured herself, they would save the kit. After all, Bumblestar could do anything.
