Hailpaw was nothing but surprised at seeing Quailtail speak from the Breezerock, yet something about his demeanour unsettled her. She approached and right as she sat the news dawned on her - Twilightstar, missing? He had to be kidding she hoped, but no. The leader never even came to the gathering from what she remembered. The apprentice's tail tip twitched at the news, a single sign of nervousness at the situation, though found herself a relieved when Breezefeather came upon the rock. "I want to go on a search team!" Hailpaw called without hesitation at his inquiry. She wasn't just going to sit by and watch as the clan remained as it was now without the leader. She would help.

Hedgekit lifted an eyebrow. Missing? And why should we believe this random cat? It sounded pretty suspicious but still not good. She decided to listen to the meeting, despite being a kit.

Crowtooth grunted as he dug through the dirt to connect two tunnels. The path would facilitate faster travel from the camp to shadowclan, if he survived the worms.

Wolffang lifted his head. The commotion made his paws tingle. Twilightstar... missing. Although he hadn’t particularly liked her, she was still a leader, a high rank of authority, who was to be respected. He padded forward. Wolffang didn’t want to be a sitting duck, a warrior who hung back when his leader had seemed to disappear.
“I want to go on a search team,” he declared. “I will do anything for my Clan and to get Twilightstar back.” There, that was all that he would say for now. Why did his paws tingle at the thought of her being gone for good? Should Breezefeather really take over? Stop thinking such nonsense! You’re a loyal warrior, and your leader has gone missing. You will help to find her, he scolded himself. A look of determination spread across his face.

Rosebriar admired the attention from him, and the understanding of the brown-and-white tom. He understood that WindClan should be pure-blooded, and that their blood shouldn’t be passed on. An image of Twistedface crossed her mind, and her small pink nose wrinkled. She was everything bad rolled up into one. His thoughts about scars and deformities made her feel a lot better as well.
“Yes!” She let herself shudder. “We should not mingle with the other Clans. They are our enemies. And scars earned honorably are fine. But deformities, especially cats born with them? Holding the Clan back? They aren’t like the elders, kits, or queens, who deserve care. Or at least, some of them. But they’re ugly and horrid, and probably have a disease!” She thought back to the whole Blackhaze incident and realized her fur had begun to bristle. Some impression you’ve made. Quickly, Rosebriar began to groom her fur back into place.
“I apologize for that,” she mewed sweetly, turning back to him. “And I do have a story as to why Outsiders and deformed cats aren’t to be trusted.” She paused. This was going great. Not only did a tom seem to be showing interest in her, but he shared her views! Just a little more..
she thought to herself. Just a little more talking. See if he truly is a dream come true. Flirting was something that Rosebriar had picked up from her mother, even though she wasn’t fully flirting anymore. She was talking. But still, she’d keep up her thing.
