They had gathered towards the back of the crowd originally, only being there in case something of importance was announced. But as Butterflykit's [ @BirdieChirp ] name was called, they would do an awkward dance through the crowd, whispering apologies as their bulky figure moved to the front. Finally they got to the front, where their sister could easily see their enthusiasm. Her apprenticeship was long overdue, and they were glad to be here to witness it.
The lynxpoint partially zoned out after that, absentmindedly digesting the reassignments being done. Until, of course, their name was called. This wasn't exactly surprising per say, they had been a warrior for nearly 4 seasons now, and had only been assigned one apprentice (who Bright never saw after their ceremony) , but it still caught them off guard. They had only been back for a couple moons, could they really be trusted with a young cat who also had a history? Of course they thought they could, but wouldn't think that sympathy would be shared.
The warrior quickly went over their fur, not that it did much to hide the thinning patches of fur and thick scars, before rising to their oversized paws. Blue eyes searching for their new apprentice.

An apprentice? She had always known this moment would come. It did for every warrior, she supposed. That foresight did nothing to stop her disappointment, however. Taking care of cats who were much younger much dumber than her was not an interested of hers. She didn’t make an effort to cheer herself up, or stop it from showing on her face. A sulky expression transformed her features. Which she turned to a slight frown. Even so her dissatisfaction might as well have been leaking out of her ears. That said she didn’t want her clan thinking she was useless. Or have any reason to call her out. Yes, that’s what got the warrior to stand and pad over to the only unfamiliar face in the crowd. Pure spite. She dipped her head, but refrained from touching noses. That was too much contact for her. It was a stupid tradition anyways. She assumed that this cat had touched noses with some random Shadowclan warrior before now anyways. They wouldn’t be missing out. “I’m Laurelbriar. I hope you do your best.” Her meow was just as piercing as her face. And just as blunt. She didn’t have anything against cats who crossed clans. Not that she ever would. However, it struck her as a cowards way out. Simply fleeing instead of staying and fighting for ones home. It was almost shameful. If she had had more energy she might have even lectured them on it. But she didn’t. Instead she sat down besides Maplepaw without another word.

Bumblekit seemed to stay quiet - he believed this was him? He has been the closest kit to him. Wait, wait, this was him! The flower crown! Cowpaw let out a happy squeak resigned for himself. Then there was Littlekit, an excitable ball of joy, who wanted herbs first. Finally, Risingkit, ghostly yet adorable fella, left it up to him to decide. Naturally, he could not resist a chance to ramble about ..
"Herbs it is..!" Cowpaw mrrped, his feathery tail curling around himself as he situated the poppy flowers and cobwebs, he had gathered. He looked between them, hmm-ing to himself with deep, deep thought. Enie menie.. catch a tiger by it's toe... if it hollers, let it go.. you are not.. it! Aha! "Poppy flowers..!" He lifted his head, pushing the small pile of flowers that appeared albeit withered.
"Ahem, these are not your.. average flowers.. actually.. funny thing is, we aren't really focusing on the flowers themself ... but what is inside them..." The gentle giant started, lifting one of the flowers to begin to shake the loose seeds. "We want the seeds... because when ate.. they can soothe one's distress and make someone sleepy ... one of the most important aspects, is it can soothe pain as well... Only a few should be ate.. less you deal with dire effects.. One is typically what I would give for a minor wound or for someone small.. like a kit..! If someone is bigger or has a more severe wounds.. I may give them two.. three is only for intense wounds... and for warriors.. " Cowpaw allowed the information to sink in before contuining.
"Poppy flowers grow best in new-leaf... and green-leaf... with a lot of sunlight ... to get seeds from said flowerhead.. one can dig their paw in and retrieve them.. or as you have seen me done.. and is my preferred method, when possible, shake the seeds loose.." He let out a yip, nodding his head ti finish his conclusion.
"Any questions..?"

He noticed that he began to relax a bit more than usual. Maybe it was just the aromas in this den is what he thought before, but Cowpaw seemed friendly. Well, it wasn't that other cats weren't friendly or anything, he was just the gentle kind of friendly instead of the intimidating kind. That made Bumblekit a little more comfortable, and that was enough.
The kit couldn't lie to himself, he assumed that the medicine cat would be grumpy ike a big scary monster due to his size, but it was much easier to just see his voluminous fur as fluffy clouds. He couldn't help but smile a little at the thought of it. Maybe not all big cats were terrifying.
Bumblekit's attention was dragged away from Cowpaw's fur as a vibrant red flower appeared. His mind recalled seeing it before... yeah! As much as he was ashamed of it, he snuck out of camp that one time and found a grasshopper, but he got too close and it hopped away. Nearly gave him a heart attack. It might have been on that same flower (though he couldn't be sure, having no prior knowledge on plants)... a poppy, according to Cowpaw. You learn something new every day.
Bumblekit watched the medicine cat struggle briefly before shaking seeds from the poppy onto the floor.
Wait... we might have a test or something on this stuff... I better pay attention. I sure hope I didn't miss anything... ah, he might think I'm bored too! He realized, clearing his head and trying to focus. Soothe distress and make them sleepy... one for kits, two for severe wounds, three for intense wounds...
The kit was sure his brain would forget all he learned sooner or later. Medicine cats sure had to be smart to remember everything about... everything. It was impressive and pretty admirable. Actually, Bumblekit decided he wouldn't mind staying here for a little while.
Lightningkit almost squealed in excitement, the prospect of mixing play and learning making her feel like a proper kit again. Her mind blissfully preoccupied by the current events, there was no space in it for her usual, plaguing thoughts. She was... having fun! Giddily strutting towards Snowybreeze, she looked at him with shining, almond shaped eyes, eager to hear the rules of the ga- training session. Who would have thought the mouse-brained giant could actually prove interesting... if only ever so slightly.
Feeling a gentle touch on her back, Lightningkit looked back only to see said giant's paw on her. A questioning look on her face, she turned to gaze at the tom's expression, only to find him smiling down at her and giving a small nod before heading off. Twitching an ear in momentary confusion, her whiskers quivered as she realized she'd just been told to stay put. This... only confused her more. A small frown appearing on her face, the lithe calico flattened her large ears before getting ready to verbalize her complaints... loudly.
"I don't understand. How is my staying here supposed to help me learn how to avoid hawks? And how does it help Scalepaw learn stealth? Shouldn't I be learning to dodge and roll?" she mewed, hopping from one side to the other in repeated, fluid motions as if to prove her point.

There seemed to be a lot of reassignments as well as apprentice ceremonies being done, which was a little more surprising. Spending the majority of his life in ShadowClan, he never did see many reassignments... unless it was some rare occasion. The squish-faced tom was the last cat to be given a mentor. Although the ginger Persian didn't mind that, he was a little self-conscious of what his new Clanmates would think. What his new mentor would think. The rest of WindClan didn't seem to care very much, which was just the way Maplepaw liked it. On the other paw... Laurelbriar seemed to be a little... disgusted at the fact she got an apprentice.
The she-cat approached him before he could even begin looking, which he was grateful for, but her expressions and sharp tone reminded him a lot of Dawnstar. Not nearly as sharp or as demanding though. No one could be as stern as the ShadowClan leader. "I... I-I will. I'll pay attention to you when we're out training, I promise!" although his soft voice was a little shaky at first, the young tom gathered his courage and said what came to mind. Just because I'm six and a half moons old doesn't mean I'm not respectful!
He fell silent soon after his new mentor sat down next to him, assuming Laurelbriar didn't want to interrupt the meeting, though Laurelbriar was probably silent because she didn't like him... I just hope I get on her good side soon. I don't want to be trained by a miserable ball of fur.

Now that the meeting was getting a move on, an exhale escaped his jaws. He hated to be mentioned by his Clanmates if it was to lecture him or another cat. Licking his chest out of embarrassment, the young tuxedo began paying attention to what was going on. Twistedkit, who had been a kit since he first joined WindClan, was finally becoming an apprentice and being called by her new name: Twistedpaw. She seemed a lot more nervous than the other kit who was soon to be an apprentice.
Once all the reassignments were handed out and the kits became apprentices, Badgerpaw cheered beside the rest of his Clanmates.
