Otterstone tilted her head up, processing what the golden Tom
had said.
“If I hadn’t been there many of the cats from the raid on the coyotes would be dead. Wormbite, Goosefury, Quailsnap, Emberfang. And more. You may have fixed Emberfang’s leg, but I was the one who saved his from his disembowlelment at the claws of the coyotes.”

She was steadfast. She might not have wanted with job at the beginning, only taking it for Dirtfur, but now she was going to do her best damn job to keep it. She forged on.

“ If I was demoted, I assume Fawnsqueak would not be acquiring training from me. He would be forced to leave Riverclan for a time for training, leaving a still healing Riverclan without an official healer.”

Her paws itched to start pacing, but she kept herself still. “You can put whatever restrictions you want on me. I can’t leave the camp, I can’t be with a patient without Fawnsqueak by my side. Anything. I will make my mistakes up to you.” Her voice was calm, but firm. She couldn’t loose this.

Maplekit was going to dash into Lionstar's den, but then he saw he was talking to someone else... Dang it, he thought, disappointed. Now he had to wait for an extent outside the den. I wonder if Lionstar thinks it would be weird for a kit telling him something, Maplekit thought, felling uncomfortable.

social interaction was beginning to wear lionstar down-- an abnormality to him, given his usual delight for conversation. he was tired, plagued by his sadness that pushing only did so much for, and..

from what he could tell, the conversation sparked by cobaltshade was beginning to die. "of course, cobaltshade, i'll keep that in mind-- was there anything else you wanted to talk about?"

Lionstar didn't miss the stupid baby that poked his head into the den, and he flicked his tail irritably. "What do you want, Maplekit?"

Maple kit squeaked in surprise when he heard the leader. He immediately thought that must have been a horrible idea. "If you don't want me here, that's fine..."

"If you're here, you're here for a reason." Unless he was here to waste Lionstar's time, which would just piss him off. "So tell me what you want."

"W-well... I know I should be asking some queens about this, but..." Maplekit thought for a moment, then said, "Berrypaw broke me and Fernkit's half friendship by telling her something she wasn't probably supposed to say." He felt the need to wail his eyes out, but he kept silent.

Most of this Lionstar didn't care about. It sounded like baby drama. "Did she tell her you ate her favorite piece of prey or something?"

"No. I don't think she said that at all. Fernkit was too angry to even talk to me." He hesitated, then continued. "Why don't you ask Fernkit for proof? She won't talk to me at all."
