His inquiry was concerned, the rest forgotten for a fleeting second until he was questioning inwardly if that was how a mentor would react, if it was professional of him to do that. As if afraid someone might overhear, he dropped his voice to confess, "I don't even think.. I'm qualified to be a warrior, honestly. Much less qualified to actually train one.."

"A rogue gave me trouble in the Outskirts," Cougarpaw meowed nonchalantly. At hearing the tom's confession, Cougarpaw blinked in understanding but gave a friendly chuckle, rolling her eyes playfully. "You never think you're qualified to do anything. You don't think you're qualified to be a warrior, yet here you stand in front of me having gotten your warrior name early. I mean come on, you know Lionstar only gives warrior ceremonies to those he thinks are worthy...or at least I think that's the truth." She paused for a moment, her tail twitching as her face fell flat. "Even though sometimes the truth can be harmful to those involved..." she added softly. For a moment she seemed to forget that Fawnsqueak was there as Cougarpaw's yellow gaze fell to the earth.

Fawnsqueak's brows knitted together at the explanation. "You've just been in the outskirts all this time? I wish..." About to say that he'd wished she would've returned sooner, he stopped short and dismissed the sentiment since it wasn't his choice to make. Truthpaw--well, Cougarpaw--had been away for a reason. "Probably because I'm seriously not? I got my warrior name early because... uh," he coughed, shuffled his paws, "possibly because Lionstar just wanted me to be a warrior for his own gain." That was dodging what happened, but he couldn't bring himself to go into detail when it was better if that ceremony was left forgotten.

Although he didn't quite understanding what she was angling at there, he mumbled an agreement and wondered if this was where he was supposed to ask if she'd want to train.. then paused, instead trying, "Are you settled in again, or kind of want some time?"

Gingerblossom purred in agreement, then glanced at Nighttuft's stomach as well. "When are your kits due?" She asked lightheartedly, ear flicking as she shifted her paws so she was sitting more comfortably on the cold ground.

"A few more moons." Nighttuft meowed with another glance at her belly. "I'm not sure exactly how long, but about two or three moons I think." She added. Her blue gaze rested on her belly for a third time. She smiled.

Since it seemed patrols hadn't been done in some time, Lionstar was taking the matter into his own paws.

Impatient and annoyed, he crossed the clearing with his tail lashing and ears back. "Cats of RiverClan," his voice was a loud screech, "attention, please! I will not repeat myself." If someone missed their name, that was their problem-- they should have been listening.

[ OPTIONAL PROMPT: while patrolling Lionsgrove, you come across an injured dog! ]

"Springtail [ @sunflowerseed], I want you to take your apprentice Snowpaw [ @Snowblaze] and Greenfur [ @vermin] and patrol along Lionsgrove. Be quick, be efficient-- and most importantly, make sure those frog-drinkers drown in our scent. Springtail, I expect this patrol to go better than the last Lionsgrove patrol you went on did." Lionstar didn't think he'd need to specify, given Springtail had nearly been involved in a fight with Frostface herself.

[ OPTIONAL PROMPT: as you near the border, the scent of rogue fills your senses and you find yourself in an ambush! ]

Who was up next? Lionstar brightened a little. It was that fiery cat, the one that was super excited when he received an apprentice a half-moon or so ago. Maybe longer, but Lionstar didn't care-- he appreciated his enthusiasm! "Sunblaze, you handsome fire-ball, [ @xeno], take your apprentice Eveningpaw [ @Heartstruck], Ashfrost [ @xoyami] and Petuniapaw [ @Fuzzy] and check out the ThunderClan border. It's been some time since we last patrolled it and I want to make sure our markers are recent."

[ OPTIONAL PROMPT: you discover the remains of a dead cat, with the scent of coyote heavy in the air. ]

"Scarfang [ @Nebby]," Lionstar squinted at him. "I believe you have had issues finishing patrols in the past, and I strongly suggest completing this one for your sake. Take your apprentice Littlepaw [ @caswshay617] and Dewfeather [ @~WolfDen~] and patrol along the WindClan border. It seems like our last patrol killed a fox there, so.. keep an eye out, and don't hesitate to bring another back."

[ OPTIONAL PROMPT: you catch sight of a weird creature with many prickly points! will you try to hunt it? (spoilers: it's a porcupine, ouch!) ]

This one, he didn't know her as well but he knew she was a Lionsbeach patrol member. They did a good job.. he was surprised they actually did it. "Minnowmist [ @hxneysuckle], take Snakesong [ @Browniefire1] and Hickoryblaze [ @Lilyfur2] and go hunting. I suggest heading toward the WindClan border-- I don't think that area has been used in some time."

[ OPTIONAL PROMPT: you spot a fisher climbing in the trees! ]

And now he was at the end. "Cobaltshade [ @The Cannibal], take your apprentice Honeypaw [ @GrassRipple] and Stormlily [ @ponyapan] and go hunting by the river. Be careful of the water-- I believe it starts freezing this time of year." They didn't need more sick cats because someone took a dive in the river.

Still, he had one final thing to say. He was sick and tired of how poorly patrols had been doing. "As a reminder for everyone: I want these patrols DONE! If your progress is being hindered by a patrol member lagging behind or disappearing to do Stars-knows what, move on without them! You can report their disappearance to me when you return and I will personally see to it that behavior stops. You are all dismissed. Come to my den when you return. I need a damn drink."

Scarfang nodded. He called to his patrolmates. "Littlepaw, Dewfeather! Let's go!"
With those words, he bounded out of camp.

Cougarpaw looked at him. "I wasn't in the Outskirts for four moons, no. I was captured by Twolegs while out hunting and taken to the Twoleg Place. Escaping took some time." As Fawnsqueak spoke, she nodded slowly. "I won't ask what you mean by that if you don't want to tell me." Suddenly she looked around, then lowered her voice. "Fawnsqueak there's something I have to tell you, but you have to promise me you won't tell Lionstar."

Ashfrost gives a swift nod, turning to his apprentice. His light eyes sparkle with barely restrained excitement as he looks at Petuniapaw. "Are you ready for your first patrol?" The dark gray tom meows, lifting his tail high in the air.

Dewfeather padded over to his Group. Scarfang and Littlepaw. Two cat's he had never seen a day in his life. He saw that Scarfang wasted no time leaving camp so Dewfeather hurried along. He hadn't been a warrior for very long, only for about a moon. So he still was getting the hang of this kind of stuff. "Well, first patrol." He thought. "Let's make it a good one."

Minnowmist looked up with a tiny squeak at the call of her name. Me? Leading a patrol? Her eyes widened and she swallowed the nervous lump in her throat before standing and padding closer to Lionstar. "Y-Yes sir," she mewed, then turned around to look for her patrol members. "Sn- Snakesong! H-Hickoryblaze! Let's g-go!" she called, trying to make her voice as loud as possible. Her tail flicked and she stood near the entrance to the camp, waiting for the said warriors to approach so they could head out.
