Rabbitchatter hummed, amused slightly but also worried. In a way, the world was brutal and unforgiving. The earlier you knew that and worked to get over it, the easier life would end up being. As much as he was a defender for young ones, it was also just a reality that took time to face. He was exposed pretty young to it, and even if clans felt sheltered to him. There was no amount of “sheltering” that would actually do anything to protect them. As Ashkit spoke he nodded alongside him, casually casting glances around the gathering crowd and then back down at him.

“Very brave indeed.” the Tom hummed in agreement, dipping his head to both Springpaw and Ashkit. Even looking at them touched his heart with a sense of anxiety over them. “What do you suppose he’ll teach us?” he asked, hoping just to keep them talking. Perhaps it would ease the stress of the situation.

Ashkit continued to stare as the pelt of Batblood, ears
upright, awaiting no interesting. Thank StarClan,
this is a much less embarrassing way of watching
Batblood than hanging out on Rabbitchatter’s shoulders,
the little gray tabby thought, relived. His heart began
to beat a bit faster as Springpaw commented on his
opinions on the whole ShadowClan situation. Though
it felt kind of awkward, being complimented by the
apprentice, he couldn’t help but feel a bit proud.
Bold words, she said. He thought, cheerily.
I said something good- for a kit, at least… but still,
good! He glanced up at Rabbitchatter as the long furred
warrior began to speak himself.

Ashkit listened, trying to keep the good feeling now
whirring in his head out of his expression, as he lifted his
chin a little. They both think my opinion sounded good?
This is great! As Rabbitchatter dipped his head, Ashkit
offered a smile of thanks- and he meant it. The simple
informing of the fact that they thought his words were bold
or brave had made his day. The now happy lump of gray
hair turned his head to glance back at Badblood, once again
waiting. Rabbitchatter continued, this time with another
question. Well, he could just hope that Rabbitchatter was
speaking to both him and his apprentice when he asked,
so Ashkit answered.

“Maybe… some moves? Or, he could be announcing some
strategies we could use to win a battle- but then why would
me and the other kits be here? All we’d be doing would be
hanging out, whimpering pathetically in the nursery!”
He glanced back at the kits’ den, imagining warriors and
apprentices fighting off the evil Shadowclan cats, while
him and his denmates sat, shivering in the back of the
den while the Queens stood ready to risk their lived. A bit
dramatic, but it was still a anxiety churning thought, and
he couldn’t help but shudder and stare at his paws. “Well,”
He meowed, steadily. “Whatever he’s about to say, at least
he’s helping.”

Springpaw has remained rather quiet as both Rabbitchatter and Ashkit spoke. She didn’t want to interrupt them as they were speaking to each other. Or, rather it felt like it. The thought only made the calico’s fur begin to bristle. She couldn’t help it, it just happened out of habit. Her eyes darted up towards Batblood as she gave out the best response that she could give. She had no battle experience whatsoever, so it’s most likely not going to much as a difference to make. “Well, like Ashkit said, we most likely might be learning battle moves. Or tactics for this most likely invasion. But maybe kits are here to learn about this just as well. Or maybe learn a couple of things that could help themselves if ShadowClan decides to raid our camp.” The words sounded more sour than she intended, but they were true. Maybe they were meant to learn this in case ShadowClan decides to raid ThunderClan. Which, only brought utter terror and fear into the young molly from the uneasy thought.
