Entry 1. March 21, 2023.
The sky was dark and starless when Violetfreckle abandoned her Clan.
It hadn't been an easy decision, you know. It was hard realizing that the Clan you grew up idolizing and hoping to lead was falling apart. It was even harder to realize you weren't the right cat to help pick up the pieces. And it was the worst to realize that you'd be better off elsewhere.
There was too much nothingness in RiverClan. Not enough anythingness. Their leader was too busy attending to his personal life to do anything. The deputy and so-called medicine cat were never around. Things were falling apart and Violetfreckle didn't have the energy to yowl at the top of her lungs for everyone to pull their heads out of their asses.
It took awhile to arrive at this decision. They say just waiting for things to change won't do anything, and they were right. Every day, Violetfreckle got closer and closer to leaving. As the river thawed and the seasons changed, RiverClan stagnated more and more. What once was a proud, raging river had become nothing more than a pitiful puddle. This wasn't what Violetfreckle wanted, to spend the rest of her life going through the motions. She needed more, but it was with a heavy heart that she realized it would have to be outside RiverClan.
The sky was dark and starless when Violetfreckle abandoned her Clan. It was easy to slip away, almost too easy. She remembered when the camp was guarded at all times, especially at night. She expected to run into someone, had an excuse right on the tip of her tongue and her claws ready in case things got hairy. But they never did.
She didn't run, but strutted out of RiverClan territory that night. Despite the weight that had settled itself in her chest, she felt light. Ready to take on what the outskirts had in store for her. Ready to prove herself, teeth bared and claws out.
