Chris nodded, but he didn't give the disc back. He kept it. "She is my sister." He said bluntly.

Paige's eyebrows went up for a moment, the only sign she was moderately intrigued by the statement. "Pavel's the closest thing I have to a sibling. Granted, he's certainly not the kind of program I'd derez for." She paused. "Although he'd be the first to go if I was given the permission to derez any program I wished." Her train of thought wandered to CLU's power for a moment. The power to erase an entire group of program-like glitches from the Grid, as if they were mere voxels on the floor waiting to be swept away.

Chris said no more. He paid more attention to Amber. Amber was the most precious program to him. Besides Skye. Skye and Amber were his most favorite programs.

Paige took note of the silence and looked out over the city, watching the ice-blue lights zip by as they flew over them. She noticed the mechanics' garage off in the distance, and a faint smile graced her lips for only a moment-- then it disappeared with a logical, mental counterargument.

Chris noticed the garage as well. He didn't say anything. He jusy wanted Amber to be safe. He could check on Skye. He wanted to see if Mara fixed her. [ @cmdR_Paige ]

OH, okay, I'll just summarize:

Many cycles ago, before Paige was a soldier, she worked as a medic at a local clinic. She and her friends got along quite well, everything was great, nothing bad ever happened, yadayadayada. Anyhow, one day, two female ISOs were attacked by a group of generic gang dudes, and Paige rescued them. Ada, one of the ISOs, was gravely wounded, but Paige and her friends were able to stabilize her and save her life. Quorra, the other ISO, kept their identities under wraps as best she could.

Paige has a secret gift of music, something she wasn't programmed for. Quorra and Ada, being ISOs, encouraged her "diversity" and supported her dream of pursuing music. Quorra remarks that Paige could learn anything she puts her mind to, leading Paige to adorably ask Quorra for pointers on fighting techniques (because Quorra's so dang good at fighting. Seriously.)

Paige and Quorra spar for a moment, leading Quorra's lighsuit sleeve to slip just enough to expose her ISO symbol.

Paige is horrified, with the false understanding the ISOs are dangerous murder machines, almost reports the two of them, but Quorra uses their friendship to persuade her not to turn them in.

WELL THENNNN

Turns out Paige's friends reported the ISOs for her.

Tesler and his guards show up, murder the entirety of the medical staff, including Paige's friends, and... yeah.

Quorra, however, knocked Paige out before the guards were able to reach them, making it look like Paige had nothing to do with the whole thing. I guess.

Tesler reaches Paige eventually, and convinces her the ISOs are to blame for the slaughter of the clinical workers, and Paige decides to join Tesler's army to avenge her friends.
