Finally she did it right. Now was it time to actually do the hunting? Nope apparently not. She hadn't yet began sneaking, which was the second biggest thing in hunting. Hawkpaw watched her and began to sneak forward. Without saying anything she moved her head to look at her mentor with a look saying 'did I do this right'.
Lotusheart nodded approvingly. Hawkpaw seemed to be doing ok. She thought as bit about what to do next. "If you'd like, you can try catching something, or I can show you how I do it if you're unsure." she said finally.

-->Hawkpaw<--
Hawkpaw listened to the question. Do it herself or be shown. Maybe being shown would be better, so she didn't make a fool out of herself. Then she'd be very moody for the rest of day. "You can show me then I'll try and catch something.", she meowed, not mentioning why she wanted Lotusheart to show her.

On a really good stride on here and Barleypaw is really close to getting her post counts finished for her training. If there is anyone who needs a cat to help with anything feel free to VM or pm. I want her to be more active along her clanmates.

Lotusheart nodded and sniffed the air. Leaf-bare made prey a lot more scarce. She managed to catch a whiff of mouse and dropped down into a low crouch. She slunk forward expertly, having had a lot of practice and focused on the prey. She managed to sneak fairly close before pouncing with her powerful legs. Lotusheart was massive and not particularly graceful but she knew how to hunt well. She grabbed the mouse in her mouth and killed it. She turned to Hawkpaw to see how she was doing.

The excitable molly looked at the bramble in which prey-scent was coming from. It seemed their was a mouse in it. She padded forwards and peered through the small gaps. Sure enough, a little mouse was sitting there with trembling whiskers and running to the other side. She growled at the mouse. Codpaw, go to the other side to try and cut it off. Get it if you can, be careful of the thorns. she said.
(Think this was due yesterday. Sorry for being so late!)

@arden @juniiper @NinjaBloss // trying to make this into a quick patrol so if you could finish up hunting within 1-2 posts that would be great!
The oriental's whiskers twitched at the familiar scents he was met with, but none promised a chance of fresh-kill. A shudder passed down his spine at the cold weather and he shoots a distasteful gaze up to the sky. He comes to a halt and turns to the rest of his makeshift patrol.
"..Due to the fact leaf-bare is here and prey is likely to be scarce, we will spread out to increase our chances of success, " Wormbite explained and there was a moment of pause as he debated over pairs, "Shimmerbird and Hailpaw you take the left. Kestrelstar you and I will take the right.. Try to not stray far? Come back here once you have finished, " With that the tom gave a nod towards them that he had concluded. He waited for the two to begin to leave before turning his attention to his leader.
Wormbite gave a small nod to him before heading towards the right. The Dark Lord parted his jaws ever so slightly, beginning to search for possible prey. He made sure to throughout check any holes or small borrows, if he was lucky perhaps he could find a family.

Shimmerbird followed Wormbite as he lead the patrol into RiverClan territory and fluffed up her pelt against the chill. It was clear that leaf-bare was here and the oriental was right when he said prey would be scarce. At least the water hadn't completely frozen over yet so fish would still be a good source of food."Come on, Hailpaw, we have some fish to catch!" the warrior said cheerfully as she bounded off in the direction that Wormbite had told them to go.
Now that she was out of camp and doing something she actually enjoyed it was as if the shyness had melted right out of her personality like snow under the sun. The molly glanced behind her to make sure the apprentice was following as she headed to a small stream. "We'll fish here. I'll cross to the other side so and go a little farther down so we have better chances at catching something," Shimmerbird said, tensing her muscles and leaping to the other side.
Giving a twitch of her whiskers to the older molly, Hailpaw crouched on her side directly in front of Shimmerbird. Her stomach growled in retort as she saw the fish swimming with the current. "I haven't been an apprentice for long but it sure is a colder leaf-bare to me.." Sure, she had been born during a leaf-bare, and the apprentice couldn't remember much about her birth. But she knew enough it sure as hell it wasn't as cold as this season, that was for sure.
This would have been her first time fishing, but she was rather a troublemaker as a kit. we don't talk about that- Her paws ached to catch the fish with her claws, she could already taste it.
Hailpaw forced herself to look up from the stream, meeting Shimmerbird's warm amber gaze. Maybe they could be friends, she had known the older molly when Shimmerbird was still an apprentice, but not for so long. Hailpaw was half her age as well, so that didn't help.
Determined to make conversation, the young cat asked the gray-and-white molly about the fish. "uhhh.. Is the fish running as good as they normally would..?"
Shimmerbird kept one ear pointed towards the apprentice as she listened to her words while at the same time staring into the stream intently for fish. She glanced up when Hailpaw asked her a question and noticed the apprentice looking at her and gave her a soft smile in return. "They are running a bit slower then usual. They tend to stay in deep holes since the water doesn't freeze that deep, but they are easier to catch because it seems that the cold weather makes them more sluggish," she informed the apprentice softly before turning her gaze back to the water once more.
It took a bit of waiting and freezing paw pads before the molly finally spotted a flash of movement below the rippling surface of the stream. It was a decent side fish, enough the feed a queen and a few kits, or for two apprentices to share, and it appeared to be moving fairly slow due to the cold. Shimmerbird took great care not to move an inch as the fish slowly swam towards her and kept her eyes locked on its scaly form waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
SPLASH! The warrior's paw darted into the freezing water lightning fast and a second later the fish was sailing out of it in arc. It landed on the shore with a thump and immediately began flailing around in an attempt to worm it's way back into the stream, but Shimmerbird was didn't give it the chance. She quickly slammed a paw down on it's side which stunned it momentarily and took the opportunity to give it a killing bite. Once she made sure it was actually did she looked up to see how Hailpaw was faring on the other side of the stream.
Lambdream gave a purr,” Lead the way…Snowstar.” he meowed. Why not, let him lead, call him leader, flirt some. It’d be great. He came as close as he could without touching Snowleap and purred again,” I’m certain your the best hunter in the clan anyways…” he rumbled. Flicking his white pelt, unsure why Snowleap had stopped flirting.
Snowleap huffed in amusement at the other tomcat’s words. The idea of him being given the title of ‘Snowstar’ was something that he never thought he’d hear, but he shook his head, thinking not much of it. He glanced at Lambdream, seeing their clanmate sticking as close as possible to him without them actually touching. “Is that what you think, hm?” The dark-furred warrior said in a teasing tone, moving closer to the white-furred warrior and brushing their pelts together for a few seconds before moving away slightly as they walked, “Then I shall do my absolute best not to disappoint you, sweetheart.” Internally, the young lean warrior didn't know why he was even doing this. He wasn’t one to flirt, nor was he one to show off, but he wanted to try new things. Maybe it would help him gain more confidence, or something. Truth be told, they were all just winging this on the go, horribly. Even with cats he had been interested in the past, he had never flirted with out of fear of making them uncomfortable and potentially scaring them away.
Walking through the peaceful forest that made up Riverclan’s hunting grounds, Snowleap usually went to the river to fish when coming out this way. However, with leafbare so terribly close, he knew it wasn’t possible to do that now. “Anything in particular you would like?” He said with a curt smile towards Lambdream, “Since I’m here to please you, of course.” He was familiar with land prey, after hunting birds with Dragonflyfrond and rodents with Vinewatcher, but he thought it would be nothing short of polite to ask the pretty tomcat beside him what he preferred. His tail swished behind him as he looked at Lambdream silently.
