ThunderClan: Life Before 2023's Sinkhole

Runningwater ran by, barely glancing at Tripleaf. They doubled back and looked at Tripleaf.
"You alright there?" they ask Tripleaf concerned. They circle on the spot and lay down in front of Tripleaf and look at them, waiting for Tripleaf's answer.

Soooo the sleeping didn’t work out, no surprises there. When Ember felt a shadow cast over her coming from the entrance, she kept her eyes screwed shut because she knew who it was. The breeze filtering in gave it away in a heartbeat. Why did Emberpaw recognize Valleypaw’s scent? Thinking back, she couldn’t pinpoint a reason. Over the moons Ember just slowly picked it apart from the rest, memorized how it differed a little from the oak and leaves of their peers -- till one day she just knew it.

Valleypaw: the ginger she-cat who absolutely hated Emperpaw right now, who Ember told herself she hated back over and over and tried to believe it was true. Ever since the coyote attacks…ever since she ran things were tense between them. More competitive than usual. It felt like any move Ember made broke ice, threatened to plunge her into the depths of Valleypaw’s disappointment like she wasn’t already drowning in her own.

So? They avoided each other, each for their own reasons.

This was why shock jolted Emberpaw in a full body flinch when out of nowhere, Valleypaw approached her nest. Her question was so soft, so genuine that for a good thirty seconds all Ember could do was blink in surprise, her eyes rounded like amber moons. She recovered within the minute.

“No—no, I’m fine.” It was a lie; her shoulder stung three times worse from the sudden movement and Emberpaw gritted her teeth to keep from wincing. She offered a pained smile – where did it this civility come from? “It’s just a scratch. I tried making a jump and…uh, didn’t land right. I’m just gonna sleep it off! Don’t worry.”

Not that Valleypaw was worried.

… was she?

For the briefest, most self-indulgent split second of Ember’s life, she let herself believe that Valleypaw sprung to her nest because she cared. It was…nice to imagine. But it wasn’t true. Valley was just doing what she would do for ANY clanmate bleeding in their nest alone—Ember was positive that must be it. Even if this was the most they'd spoken in a while, they were still at odds. Valleypaw was just loyal enough to overlook their differences and make sure Emberpaw was okay and that was all.

The tom was lounging in the clearing, staring at his paws in a quiet manner as he raised the memory of his past. He didn't have much in his memory. Embertalon had still been a kit, but he had understood.

At 3 moons old...

Emberkit's eyes blinked open as he sensed his mother coming back from outside. He snuggled closer to her, but immediatly noticed something was wrong. She carried another scent! He recognized it to be from WindClan. His mother gently swept her tail over him and he closed his eyes.

It wasn't much, but at least he remembered the scent. Embertalon shook his head in frustration. He should stop thinking about this. It was hard, but possible. The warrior yawned, brushing his black tail along his ears and then heaving himself to his paws.

He looked around. Maybe someone wanted to hunt? For all he knew, he needed something to do. Something distracting, something of use for his clan. Embertalon stretched, his eyes darting around the clearing as he looked for another cat. Hopefuly some cat would notice him - he really wanted a friend, someone to confide in.

Runningwater? Yes, Runningwater was the name of this tom. "Yes fine, just have nothing to do and nowhere to be and it really upsets me cuz I like to be productive." he said. "On the flipside, why are you... rushing so quickly?"

"You're here. Alright.." she meowed, then glanced around.

"Do you know where Blossomtrail is?" she murmured to herself, then shook her head.

Blossomtrail was a busy cat. She had a lot on her plate. Currently, she was making dirt. And she was having a hard time with the process, to say the least. So, after this exhausting ordeal (with less than adequate results, if you were curious) she emerges from the dirtplace tunnel, only to find out she'd been named to attend a patrol. "Crowfood on a burr!" she huffs loudly as she shuffles through the cats gathering.

"You there! Impatient child aren't you," she huffs, winded, as she approaches Ravenstorm. "Can't you give a lady a moment? Must be doin' a load of nothin' if you're here as soon as your name's called, I gotta say." She was, in a word, unamused.

"You're supposed to be leadin' this shindig so, lead."

"All right. We're going to Herondive Hollow, so let's head out. I want this done quickly: we can't have ShadowClan think that because we had no patrols we're weak," she meowed, then turned to pad out of Camp.

"Uh, hi... I have a problem and you seemed lonely and sad too, so want to talk about it while we hunt? I am really hungry." he said. "um, I hope this isn't a horrible time or something..." he said sheepishly

Sunclaw’s ears perked up as he observed the surroundings of the clearing. The tom had been extremely lax as of late, something he wasn’t extremely fond of being. He should get out more, explore the wide world that he has in front of his eyes.

That is when his green eyes paused and focused on a cat in the clearing. Clearing his throat, he walked over, his paws treading on the stray leaves as he did.

“Good day.” He started in his dull voice. “May I enquire as to you being by yourself on such a fine day like this?”

Ah, the annoyance of conversation. Try to act like the others. The tom consulted his mind.
