It kind of startled the tom, having Pikestar say his name for his announcement. With a swallow, the elder ambled his way to the front, dipping his head with respect to the leader and deputy. Turning to face the crowd, Pondwhisker let out a half-laugh. Wow, this was... a sight. Okay, old man, time to get this going. Both Pondwhisker and his rper had been waiting for this moment for a long time, waiting until it was the perfect moment.
He started his speech.
"I have called RiverClan home for over a hundred moons, at this point in my life. I have seen leaders rise to power, some do great, and some I have watched crash and burn. I was made an apprentice, and then a warrior. There has been so much history in RiverClan and I am so happy to have been a part of it. But, my time in RiverClan has ended; I will be leaving this Clan to join ThunderClan." He paused for a moment, eyes starting to well with tears as he spoke. He needed this moment to collect himself, collect his thoughts.
"I asked Pikestar if I could speak here today because, well, I wanted to say goodbye to you all properly. I am so proud to call you all my Clanmates, my friends, and some of you, family. I learned of my son a few moons back, many of you will know now as Thrushstar. I am leaving to join him, and my grandkits, for the rest of my life. I am unsure of how much time I have left, and I didn't want to spend it away from them. I want to be able to die peacefully, with them, when StarClan calls me. I want to thank you all, for going on patrols with me, sharing meals with me, and being amazing cats. We all have our faults, but, please, don't be too harsh on one another. Or else I'll have to come back and knock some sense into all of ya's." The massive tabby tom let out a chuckle, green eyes twinkling with humor, grief, sadness and best of all: happiness. He was finally going to be able to spend some time with his son, make up for everything he missed for Thrushstars upbringing. He was going to live a good rest of his life.
Mistycloud [She/Her]
Mistycloud dipped her head at the elder is approval, it makes much more sense then staying here.
"Best wishes, Pondwhisker," Mistycloud said to him.
Mistycloud's face lit up in shock at the leader's announcement as a mentor to Beechkit- Now Beechpaw. The molly looked at him for a second and dipped his eyes and sat down again next to her new apprentice. She was going to wait till the meeting was adjourned to greet her new apprentice.
BEASTFLAME
^^^^^^^^
The medicine child was quite the curiosity to Beastflame. Stonepaw [ @carmen ] was more calm and collected than the warrior had seen before and slightly more intelligent. Beastflame didn't know what the thank you was for, though. All he'd done was give his input, which it seemed had miraculously worked for the time being. At least the part about putting off the leadership decision until later. But that was common sense, wasn't it? They'd have reached that decision on their own soon enough. Still, he gave a nod to the medicine cat, for lack of a better response.
The relative quiet had been too good to be true, it seemed. Beansprout's answer sent everyone into another flurry of screaming, much to Beastflame's disappointment. This was ridiculous. He pinned his ears back, curling his lip to expose the edges of his teeth in annoyance. Narrowed amber eyes glared at those who felt it was necessary to screech their opinions to the world without regard to the ears of others. At a clan meeting, no less. It didn't matter that Pikestar intended to step down, this was still an event that called for some semblance of formality and peace.
Thankfully, Wormbite [ @x ghostie ] seemed to be handling the situation. His warning didn't get to the ears of all the offenders, however. After a long moment of hesitation, Beastflame mumbled to the other tom, leaning closer, "Let me know...uh, if you want any help." The large tabby tom did not doubt Wormbite's ability to enforce his rule on his own in the slightest, it was just that his paws were itching to do something helpful that would get this meeting done. Plus, the lead Shield shouldn't have to babysit these disturbances by himself.
The others called forward had finished gathering by now, and Pikestar moved on to begin introducing them. Beastflame paid them the attention he'd promised earlier, warm eyes looking over the newcomers approvingly. He was becoming more and more sure that it had been a good idea to keep the borders open to outsiders. "Beechpaw, Blueberrypaw, Cloudpaw," he rumbled in a low-pitched voice, welcoming the apprentices into their new ranks. He did not envy the warriors getting assigned apprentices, as he personally had little patience for the antics of young cats, but it was good to see their ranks expanding nonetheless.
Pondwhisker had an announcement to make, it seemed, and Beastflame turned his head slowly to see what he had to see. His words surprised the warrior immensely, yet another mark for this meeting. Beastflame could not imagine leaving Riverclan for anything, especially after spending as much time here as the elder. But then again, Beastflame did not know the pull of family as this tom seemed to, so perhaps his perspective was skewed. He dipped his head to Pondwhisker respectfully. "Riverclan will miss you," he stated solemnly in a soft voice.
Duststream smiled half sadly at Pondwhiskers goodbye. It was sweet and a sweet reason to leave and he understood

When Pikestar called her name, the tabby molly looked up at her leader, shocked by this and dipped her head in respect of the leader's choice going over to Cloudpaw (That's the one I'm mentoring right? @Archjay ) she dipped her head to them and said quietly,
"I'm Silentripple, your mentor" giving them a small smile the feline turned her striped head back towards the meeting, her attention given to Pondwhisker for their announcement.
The cat he was assigned to be mentored by was young, very young, like his age or younger, as he was very old to be an apprentice. But the young minded Cloudpaw didn’t really care about age, he just half questioned her ability to work with ik if she wasn’t well seasoned. “h……ey” he managed to stammer out.

Cherrykit didn't know what was happening. Lots of yelling, unrest. She trembled with every shout, her ears flattening in dismay. What was happening to make all these cats so upset?

~Silentripple~
She gave her new apprentice a small smile, but couldn't help noticing he was very similar in age to her and her first thoughts were Why did Pikestar choose me but stuffing her doubt down she looked at the tom and strengthened her mind, pitting on a mask of certainty.
"It will be my honor to teach you"

The meeting was... very disturbing... first Pikestar was... leaving his leader post and then Pondwhisker was leaving, Nightspark was understanding the reasons of everyone to leave, but it was disturbing, he addressed a silent prayer to Starclan, asking it to preserve his clanmates...

Beechpaw puffed out his chest with pride when he heard his new name. Beechpaw. He liked the sound of that. Grinning up at the newly named Blueberrypaw, he gave her a friendly nudge with his shoulder, some of that kit-like joy peeking through once again.
"Well done!" He purred, "How does it feel to be a full apprentice of RiverClan now?"
While waiting for his reply, he cast his eyes around for his mentor. He didn't really know much about them, and didn't remember seeing them around camp. Hopefully they would be a good mentor. @Kay~ @~'Atlas-The-Lemon'~
Pikestar's understanding meant more than he could comprehend. Gingerfrost had expected disappointment from the leader, backlash from his clanmates, whatever their reason may be. But instead he got understanding, and an indescribable amount of voices that erupted once more after his interjection. He couldn't clearly hear what they were saying. Only some words here and there, but otherwise too many felines were speaking over each other. Though frankly, he couldn't say he cared. He wasn't proud of what happened, on the contrary. But he made his decision and preferred to think that this was what's best for RiverClan -- and perhaps himself, too. He simply wouldn't make it as leader at this time, and RiverClan deserved someone who could lead them properly. He wasn't that someone; hopefully the rest of the clan could acknowledge that accordingly. And hopefully.. They might be willing to give him a second chance, be it as a deputy, or a warrior. At this point anything could happen.
But life went on, as did the meeting. Pikestar's calm continuation of the meeting seemed to have settled most screaming felines into silence, not wanting to further interrupt the kits' special day. He too, felt guilty their day had to go this way. He hadn't thought his own apprentice ceremony all that important, but he could understand the importance it may hold for others. It was like a right of passage into the bigger, scarier world -- he wondered why so many were excited about it, for only misery followed. But alas, the kittens hardly knew of said misery, that must be the reason for their excitement. As it was customary, Gingerfrost made a point to chant the newly named kits and apprentice's names.
Next, came something rather unexpected. Pondwhisker, once of their elders, had an announcement to make of his own. This announcement held all sorts of strange or surprising elements: his being Thrushstar's father. His, supposedly, being over a hundred moons old (surely that wasn't possible, none but the dead lived that long). Lastly, his leaving RiverClan. It was unusual for it to be announced in this manner, but hearing her had children - and grandchildren - in ThunderClan, a part of him could understand. Pondwhisker was saying goodbye, so the tabby only lightly dipped his head in farewell. Familiar relations. They were so strange.
