He scrambled to sit next to her, carefully wrapping his tail over his paws and glancing at her out of the his eye. The wind certainly felt nice on his fur, helping to dry it quickly, but within seconds he was bored. Ravenmist's question seemed odd. However, not wanting to seem rude, he went ahead and answered. "I'm fine, I guess. Just... wet. And kind of cold."

Ravenmist grinned. "And how would that be an advantage how?" She looked at Goosepaw, her eyes shining. She would still teach him battle moves, sure, but she first wanted to see how she can strategize.

His brows furrowed and he swiveled his head to blink at her. "An... advantage?" A strange question, indeed. I mean, sure, we're RiverClan, but being wet- OH. Oh, I get it! "If I come out of the water during a battle, cats will be expecting that, right? Because we're RiverClan. What they won't be expecting is... THIS!" He leaped to his paws and violently shook out his fur, spraying water droplets everywhere around him. "HAHA! BLINDED! Take that!"

He leaped to his paws and violently shook out his fur, spraying water droplets everywhere around him. "HAHA! BLINDED! Take that!"

Ravenmist laughed, all her peacefulness gone. "Exactly! Great job! Now, why don't you use that new move on me?" She stood up, and walked a fox-length away from him. "Hit me with your best moves."

Finally, some real training! He danced backwards, grinning widely. His fur was mostly dry now, so that spray move he'd just come up with on a whim wouldn't really work as well. But maybe there would be something nearby on the island he could use. Swiftly he scanned the landscape behind Ravenmist. There was a tree just behind her. Maybe he could use that. He fixed his gaze on her and darted forward, trying to seem like he was aiming a hard blow at one of her legs, when really he was aiming for the tree behind her. He could finally have the chance to use that tree move he'd learned.

He grunted in surprise as she slammed him into the sand. Her paw ground his cheek into the ground, but he couldn't help but laugh. "This is a nice change of pace," he commented, and then, using his small size to his advantage, curled into a ball and shot out from underneath her. He darted up the tree, digging his claws into the bark. Then, he pushed off with his hind legs and twisted upright in the air, eyes locked on her back as he attempted to land his body on top of hers.

"This is a nice change of pace," he commented, and then, using his small size to his advantage, curled into a ball and shot out from underneath her. Then, he pushed off with his hind legs and twisted upright in the air, eyes locked on her back as he attempted to land his body on top of hers.

Ravenmist intercepted his move, flipping her legs out and kicking him in the stomach. As soon as he hit the ground, she dashed over, grabbed his face, and shoved his cheek into the ground. "Nice move, you used your size to your advantage. I'm impressed." She stepped back, signaling that the battle was over.

Goosepaw growled, frustrated, as she stepped away to let him stand. His hackles were up, and although he was trying to calm himself down, he only succeeded in digging his claws into the earth. He lashed his tail. Already he was reviewing the fight in his mind, going over his choices and mistakes. She had seemed to expect everything he was doing. Am I being too slow? Or is she just too fast for me to keep up with? He took a few short moments to catch his breath, to calm down, and then she shook the sand from his pelt. "Ok, I'm ready for another go."

Goosepaw clenched his jaw to keep from snapping. Impatient? He wasn't impatient! He was just eager to learn how to fight! What if ShadowClan invaded right then and there? He would hardly know how to defend himself because Ravenmist wanted to take time to talk. He sat down heavily, and sand billowed around him with a whumph noise.
Swiftly he began to go over the short-lived match in his head again, narrowing his eyes thoughtfully at the sky. Let's see... I looked at the tree, and then I ran at her to act like I was doing something else. She pinned me, I used my size to get free, then she intercepted the move like she knew I was going to do it. "I'm being too obvious with my attacks?" he guessed after a moment. "Or I'm just too predictable. You seemed to know what I was trying."
