Leafmist laughed. "All right... how about that time my patrol was attacked by a group of rogues... hm or maybe running into a badger when I was an apprentice?" She tilted her head, unsure which story the kits would want to hear more.

"Badger!" the Trio picjed, eyes gleaming with excitment. Shadekit added feathers to the nests from the birds on the fresh-kill pile outside.

Leafmist laughed. "Alright, well I'm not much of a fighter even now, let alone back when I was an apprentice. So when I was out on a hunt, and I stumbled right into a badger with it's cubs, I was besides myself! I was an older apprentice by then though, so I knew I couldn't just run. I dropped the prey in my mouth and waited for it to charge- you see, even at their fastest badgers are really slow. So, their attacks are easy to dodge. I didn't want to kill her, since she had cubs, but I wasn't going to let her kill me either!" She paused, looking down at the kits to see their reactions. A shiver went down her back at the memory of her encounter- she still hated badgers to this day.

Leafmist smiled. "Well, the badger lumbered towards me and swiped out with it's paw, but I was too quick for it and dodged it. I tried to run around the back of it to hop onto it's back- it's a good strategy to go for them on their back, since they can't reach back there. But it saw me coming, and kicked out. I flew across the clearing and smacked my head on a tree, and everything got black. I thought for sure I was headed to join Starclan, but then I woke up in the medicine cat den. Apparently, a patrol nearby was tracking the badger, as they had found it's scent. So they followed it, and heard the fight so they came and saved me. They had to drag me all the way back to camp!" She remembered how she had been confined to the medicine cat's den for a few sunrises, before finally being allowed some light training. "My mentor didn't let me out of his sight for an entire moon."

The Trio laughed. "Another! Another!" they cheered.

Whiskerfur asked," Wait is it Cinderkit, Copperkit, Pebblekit, Waspkit, and ermm.. What's the last ones name?"

Cucumberpickle sighed," It's Sandykit."

Sandykit stayed asleep as her parents talked, her tiny paws twitching every so often in her deep slumber.

Whiskerfur shrugged," Look, I made a mistake since I just gave birth to them! It's Sandykit who twitches her paws ever so often in her sleep, right?"

Cucumberpickle nodded," Sure....Yeah."

Cinderkit mewled and rolled over, curling up again. She wrapped her tail around her nose and sneezed, deciding to tuck her tail under her chin.
