Huh the two were surprisingly..... accepting of the whole thing. Snakeheart was used to in a way cats badgering him for his knowledge or being with cats he genuinely wanted to share things with (like Stormtalon or Rowanmist before they died) so had grown used to grumpily chattering on during patrols. That or he was lecturing unwilling or lazy cats to do their job and actually participate. That happened a lot especially when he was grouped with cats like Blizzardsky.
So the quiet acceptance and obedience left him in a state of silent confusion and consideration over what he actually wanted. Did Snakeheart actually want to talk to these cats about his tasks and role? to share his knowledge? Or did he want to be left in the peace he so often longed for that seemed almost mythical now that he had it? The tom didnt know not at all and was left rather empty in that deciding eventually to do what he always did in times of doubt. Bury himself in work.
Leaving the two apprentices to their burdock hunt with a nod the tom peeled away staying in sight and hearing range quickly finding some burnet and fleacing the plant of its valuable leave one ear on the duo as they went after the more bitter herb.
