Softecho led the way out of the camp and headed down toward the river. “So, I was thinking of hunting for fish,” Softecho meowed to Splashstripe. “I’m not in the mood for land prey; besides I think some of our Clanmates already came by earlier hunting land prey, so we’ll have more of a chance with the fish.”

Softecho dodged a clump of ferns then flicked Splashstripe’s ear with her tail. “Come on, I know you like guarding the camp, but you can’t be that oblivious to the territory,” She teased. “You remember the river, right?” They padded onto its bank, and she dipped a paw in the clear, cold water.

“Oh come on!” Softecho flicked some water droplets at Splashstripe. “You know what fish are.” As she was talking with Splashstripe, she kept her eye on the river, watching for fish. “Stop acting so oblivious, I know you’re just joking. You can’t get anything past me.” She suddenly lunged toward the river, scooping out a coppery fish. She killed it with one bite, then stood back straight. “There we go, one fish.”
