So today, he was going to make sure things got done. He’d grown to know more and more cats in Thunderclan, and although he wasn’t close with many of them, he trusted his clan.
He quickly spotted Talonfeather in the clearing, and he nodded to himself. He was a capable warrior. Flintspirit looked around for others to join him, spotting Spiritfox.
[Optional Prompt: you’re patrolling along the Riverclan border when you smell the stank of a fox. It’s relatively fresh. Will you investigate?]
“Talonfeather! [ @CloverFlame ] I’m putting you in charge of a patrol to the Riverclan border. Take Spiritfox [ @Arie ] with you, and he may take his apprentice along if he wishes. There’s been plenty of activity along the Riverclan border, so keep your eyes peeled.” He nodded to the tom, signaling he could gather his cats and head out. Then Flintspirit looked around for his next group of cats. He knew the Shadowclan border needed some checking up on.
[Optional Prompt: There’s little activity along the Shadowclan border, but near the edge that leads into deeper territory, you find a rabbit that’s half-eaten, just inside your territory. There is an unfamiliar scent about it. What will you do?]
”Okay I need Sorrelshine [ @Dust ], Angelpaw [ @GLaDOS ], and Foxbound [ @RedHead ] to go patrolling along the Shadowclan border. Sorrelshine, I’m putting you in charge.” He always felt uncomfortable ordering Foxbound around. She was just another warrior, but that didn’t help that he knew how close she was to the leader. He hoped he had made a good choice in having Sorrelshine lead the patrol. She seemed like a sensible enough cat. He waved her off with a flick of his tail to go and collect her patrol members.
Now for the hunting patrols. He figured it would be best for him to take Minkpaw out hunting. They hadn’t trained in a while. But if he was going to be training her, there needed to be more cats there to help with the hunt.
[Optional Prompt: While hunting, you find a shiny twoleg object in the woods. Will you investigate it?]
“Tanglefoot [ @jazzyanathema ], Lightningbugfire [ @RedHead ]. You two will accompany Minkpaw [ @Fuzzyfeline ] and I on a hunting patrol. I’ll be doing some training with her.” He then sat down and licked a white paw, running it over his ears.
With green eyes he turned to watch as the patrols were gathering together and heading out, deciding to wait until the other two patrols had left before taking his patrol out to the territory.
|
Tanglefoot gave a nod, licking his mangled foot. He padded over to Flintspirit and his patrol and flexed his paws, excited for the hunt.

Talonfeather flicked his tail in acceptance to the deputy’s commands. His anxiety had abated slightly since his kits had been born, but he still worried about them, fearing that a predator would somehow get into the nursery. He knew these fears were unlikely, but it didn’t stop him from visiting the kits as often as he could.
Turning to Spiritfox, the cat with whom he had been assigned, he dipped his head in greeting, “So do you want to bring your apprentice then?” He inquired, his tail twitching with anticipation, the sooner he left, the sooner he could return. @Arie

Tallmarsh turned her head, hiding the nasty scar on her face from him. She bristled and flinched as he snarled back at her, in her head a swirling tornado of emotions. The anger came in waves, washing over her as she resented herself and the Dark Forest. Strangely, though, she couldn't make herself angry at Passionstar. As the anger would recede, it would be replaced with sadness. She had done something she couldn't come back from, doomed to forever be remembered as the medicine cat who had killed her leader. She wondered if StarClan would reject her now. The thought that she could be stuck in the Dark Forest for her afterlife terrified her. She had been manipulated by them into performing evil acts, but at her core she wasn't evil. She was mean and vain and prideful, but she was also loyal to a fault and just wanted to show that she was worth something. She wanted to be remembered, to leave a legacy, but not this way. Her ears pinned to her head, the dark tabby muttered, "You wouldn't find it funny if not only StarClan but also the Dark Forest had it out for you." Her entire life had been one big screw up, in her opinion. She had lost everything except for her sister, the only family she'd had left. Then she was forced to choose between her sister and where her heart was calling her. So she'd lost the only family she'd had left. She had been determined as an apprentice to be the best, but it never seemed to work out for her. Just as she was starting to get somewhere as a warrior, she was chosen for this position by StarClan themselves. And from there it'd only been downhill, snowballing into the most hellish experience she'd had since fending for herself as a kit in the wild. She was determined to be the best medicine cat ThunderClan had ever seen. And look where it'd gotten her. She wanted to blame StarClan and the Dark Forest, but deep down she knew it was all her fault. Everything that had happened in her life, every bad decision, every harsh word, had led up to this. And now she was paying the price. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Can I start to fix this? She swallowed hard and stammered, "I...can't say anything to fix this. But, for what it's worth..." She paused, unsure of what to say. Nothing seemed right. "I can't keep...sulking. I need to do my job and-and try to make things right between us. I don't deserve anything from you, but...I hope it's obvious that I am horrified by my actions. I-I want to be a better medicine cat. And a better cat...I have a long way to go." She stopped, realizing that she was rambling. The medicine cat clenched her jaw and stared at her paws, preparing herself for another sharp answer.

(Yeah we can continue this!)
“I can tell a lot is weighing on your mind. As it should be.” Passionstar murmured to her. For so long, there was this bitterness swelling up inside the tom’s Head when he knew it wasn’t in his heart. That night so long ago turned out a lot of cats against their leaders and clan mates. It was just a shame that his own medicine cat wasn’t strong enough to fend them off from manipulating her mind. However, Passionstar didn’t saunter towards her just so he could hear how pathetic she sounded. Right now, she was looking pathetic, and as he glanced at her scarred eye, it would always be a reminder for the both of them. The leader flicked his tail behind him when Tallmarsh started to speak again. Moons ago, she wasn’t this kind of cat. He remembered when she was incredibly proud and super snappy, but now she seemed docile and submissive. Passionstar’s amber-green eyes stared intensely at her as she began to speak. He didn’t say anything for a while, and his eyes moved to the heart of the camp where he watched the other cats interact. His ears flicked, mind running a million miles per minute and really he was trying to explain what he wanted to say in a simpler manner. “There is nothing you can do to make things right between us.” He finally meowed, looking back down at her. “Unless you can give me back my life that you took.” His tone was even, but there was no hint of aggression. “From this point on, instead of sulking, you should be moving on. You can’t make things right, but you can improve to make it better and we shall see where the future leads us.” Passionstar knew he was a very faulty cat with all his imperfections, but he knew he couldn’t make things right, he couldn’t be a perfect cat, so instead he embraced his imperfections, deciding he would improve himself and make things better. He touched her shoulder blade with his tail tip, he had forgiven her, but she still had a long way to regain his trust again. “I have to give you your props - never thought I’d see the day some cat take me down. Let alone a medicine cat!” He quipped. Passionstar was a notorious warrior, a tough soldier...that was killed by his own medicine cat. It sure did deflate his ego, but in a good way.

Thornkit yowled along with her spinning around quite comically, "We'll have the biggest territory in the history of all the clans!" He staid stomping to emphasize the statement, "Not even Lionclan was as powerful as our clan will be!"

Re: ThunderClan Clearing
Flintspirit. The deputy. Her mentor. The very cat she had been trying to avoid for over two moons. Of course he didn't know. Why would a young apprentice want to avoid her mentor? Guilt? Fear? All the above? In Minkpaw's case it was both. She felt so guilty for what she had done, what she almost did. It ate away at her just like Coldheart's death and her family. It seemed the longer she lived more bad things happened around her. It wasn't like she felt needed or wanted in ThunderClan. She felt like an outsider just watching as life went on. That wasn't the whole reason she avoided Flintspirit. She was scared, what would he think of her? What did he think of her now? It was possible he was only training her because he was assigned and wanted to look good. She didn't know.
Tail almost dragging the ground Minkpaw made her way over to the large tom. He was huge compared to her wiry frame. The brown gray molly's skin was crawling with guilt. Did he even know she turned against ThubderClan? Trained in the place of no stars?! Ears twitching Mink sat down "Hunting training?" Not meeting his eyes she asked. That was all she could come up with. They weren't close. Minkpaw doubted they ever would be. Why would he want to be?

Spiritfox had been lying down and first approached the one he was assigned to be with patrol under after the announcement. As the younger warrior asked him if he wanted to bring Astralpaw the elderly warrior shook his head. His apprentice needed an off day after the many days of hard trashing and Spiritfox pushing him to his limits. He himself had planned to take a day of rest as well, his shoulder was bothering him more than usual and his limp had become more noticeable. He hoped that this younger warrior wouldn't bother him too much; Spiritfox was usually in a good mood and very accepting but he felt slightly frustrated at this moment being assigned to work under a less experienced tom. He knew Talonfeather, the tom had just had his first litter he believed, but it still annoyed the elderly ginger warrior nonetheless. His whiskers twitching slightly he shook his body trying to get the kinks shook out of his smaller frame. "Let's go then."

Tallmarsh gathered up her courage and raised her head slowly to look Passionstar in the eyes as he spoke. She slowly nodded in agreement. He was right. For all this time, she had been holding onto this pain and beating herself up over this. She needed to know that she could start to feel okay--something she never thought she could feel again. She needed to understand that this was the beginning of healing. She had dreaded talking to Passionstar, but this was the one thing she had needed to see. He had forgiven her. Now it was her turn to forgive herself.
Strangely, she had found a calm. She smiled as Passionstar quipped, reminded of the 'good old days' before everything got crazy. Back when she was just the warrior-turned-medicine cat learning how to do her job, she and Passionstar were friends. She let out a small chuckle. "Well, I was a warrior once--a pretty good one, too. Not all medicine cats are wimps!" she retorted. It was strangely familiar to have this back and forth between the two of them. It seemed like forever ago.

Re: ThunderClan Clearing
@jazzyanathema @Fuzzyfeline
Lightningbugfire was dozing off in the clearing when he heard his name called by the familiar voice of Flintspirit. Green eyes opening wide, he sat up and turned so he could listen to his assignment. He grew slightly nervous as it was said. He’d never been on a hunting patrol with older warriors since he had become a warrior himself. So of course he was a little nervous. Getting to his paws, he quickly made his way over to Flintspirit and Tanglefoot, smiling fondly at Minkpaw as she blinked up at her mentor. He wasn't kuch older than her, he knew that, but he couldn’t imagine having the deputy as he mentor. That was some big pawsteps to follow in. He stood with the group and turned his green eyes to Flintspirit, waiting for further instructions.
—
The dark-furred tom’s green eyes caught sight of Spiritfox and Talonfeather heading out to the clearing, and he nodded to himself. He knew those two would do a nice quick job at the Riverclan border, with Spiritfox needing more rest than usual in his old age, and, if he was correct, Talonfeather’s mate had borne kits recently. He only hoped Spiritfox wouldn’t get upset that he assigned Talonfeather to lead the patrol. Flintspirit believed younger cats needed a chance at authority as well. As his patrol quickly gathered around him, Flintspirit assumed that the Shadowclan border patrol should be off soon. His patrol needed to get hunting. He gave Minkpaw a bright smile at her meek inquiry. He’d felt awful for not having the right mindset to remember her training recently, so taking her on a real hunting patrol would do her some good. “Yep! Hunting training. I think there’s been enough battle recently, so we don’t need to do that right now.” He knew younger cats always were excited for battle training.
With a firm nod to Tanglefoot and Lightningbugfire, Flintspirit waved his tail for the patrol to follow him into the territory.

Tanglefoot followed closely behind, his tail swishing in delight behind him. "I've been itching to go on a hunting patrol for ages," he murmured, mostly to himself. He glanced over at Lightningbugfire, falling in line with him. "So, this your first hunting patrol as a warrior?"
