➣ Usually, the small apprentice wasn’t one to go out of camp without an adult. After all, if she was caught, her warrior ceremony could be delayed and only StarClan knew how much it already had been. However, it made Cloudpaw feel anxious and uneasy, staying in camp for too long. Back when the black-and-white molly was still a nursery kitten, she had been terrified of going outside of the den, let alone camp. Oh, how times changed for young Cloudpaw. As she padded through the hunting grounds of RiverClan, the apprentice kept her eyes peeled for anything interesting ― such as vibrant flowers or berries. To her dismay though, the first thing that she found was neither of those things, but more so another cat resting in the shade under a tree.

Silently, Cloudpaw approached them, not saying anything at first. Would they immediately send her back to camp if they saw her? The RiverClan molly did not know to be certain, but at this point, she didn’t really give a damn. Stepping closer, she would come to recognize the sturdy tomcat as Silverthroat, who was a warrior of RiverClan. The two of them had never shared a conversation before, but she did, in fact, know who he was. He didn't really look like he wanted to be disturbed.... Oh well.

“Hey.” Said the small fluffy she-cat, blinking at the larger feline, “You know where I can find any herbs?”

Silverthroat had heard a cat approaching and silently prayed to StarClan that they wouldn't approach, but with StarClan hated him or didn't hear his pleas. The dark tabby growled, forcing one pale blue eye open to glare at the cat in front of him. Great, an apprentice. Cloudpaw, if he remembered right. Why was she out here to bother him? Why ask him about herbs? Couldn't she ask someone else who cared???

"Probably somewhere not here," was the warrior's sharp response, turning away on his side and turning his back to the apprentice. "Far from here... And from me. Go find someone else who knows... And cares..." Silverthroat grumbled, already closing his eye once more.

➣ Immediately, the RiverClan molly could tell this tomcat was a real piece of work, from the growling to the glares. But Cloudpaw didn’t really give a rat’s tail what Silverthroat thought beyond the topic of where any herbs could be. Training in the Dark Forest had hardened the once naive and innocent apprentice. She would have no problem up and leaving the rat-faced moron where he was, but unfortunately, his answer did not really satisfy her. The black-and-white molly uttered a sharp hiss and went around him to face the warrior again. She wasn't afraid of him.

“Hey, you don’t have to be such an asshole, you know!” Cloudpaw spat, tail lashing irritably behind her, “I am trying to do something nice for RiverClan and the least you could do is pretend to give a damn. If you haven’t noticed, Snakeheart left Fawnpaw with hardly any herbs to work with, so if any of us get sick or get thrown into another war we’re basically screwed.” At this point, the small RiverClan apprentice felt like she was wasting precious energy on him at this point. Whatever. Maybe she could find a beehive or something to throw at him.

Silverthroat huffed and rolled his eyes at the apprentice, refusing to move from his laying position and simply turning away from Cloudpaw once more. Ugh, apprentices were always a pain to deal with... Why couldn't she bother someone else who cared? Were there not other cats that cared more than himself?... Probably not, now that he thought of it, but whatever.

"Not my fault Snakeheart decided to be brainless and leave a new apprentice without herbs. Nor is it my fault that you can't use your brain to ask others where there might be herbs. If we get thrown into another war, the only one at fault would be the cats higher up in the chain... If you truly care, go bother someone else," was Silverthroat's response. "Surely your little brain can muster a simple thought like that, right? Why bother a warrior who has no herb knowledge, nor cares to know? You're wasting both your time and mine."

➣ It was clear that this warrior would not be helping her. The RiverClan molly wondered why she even bothered to trust anyone anymore, they were either assholes or they eventually abandoned her. Cloudpaw should be used to that by now, but it only fueled her with a passion to get things done alone, even if it was dangerous to do so. “Fine.” Answered the black-and-white apprentice, clearly putting a stop to this whole conversation, if it could be even called that. “My apologies for wasting your time.” And with that, the small she-cat turned and walked away from him, leaving the warrior where he was under the tree, in the shade.

Alone again, she started looking up in the trees around her to see if there was anything. Cloudpaw didn’t know anything about herbs or plants or anything like that. Hell, all she knew was cobwebs, but those did not really seem useful enough. Eventually, the RiverClan molly could hear a faint buzzing. Wait, was that? It was! A beehive. Honey was useful, right? Cats had been sent out for it before. What was it used for? She didn’t know. But it was something. Sinking her claws into the trunk of a tree, Cloudpaw huffed and slowly pulled herself up until she reached a branch. It was extremely tiring for her, especially when she was not used to climbing trees. However, there were no herbs in the water, so she had to work with what she could.

Snowleap had once mentioned to her a story about encountering bees. They were nasty little critters and it really hurt when they sting you. Sadly, Cloudpaw knew she would probably come out of this with more than a few injuries, but whatever. Worse things had happened to the RiverClan apprentice. On the branch, the fluffy molly stood up, placing her paws on the hive that buzzed noisily. Okay, just… Cloudpaw soon felt the thin branch under her weight cracking and in the heat of the moment, she dug her claws into the hive, pulling it down from the tree as she fell to the ground. She was tiny and light, so the initial fall wasn’t too bad, along with soft grass for an awaiting cushion. However, the hive immediately shattered upon impact.

Not wanting to abandon her prize, Cloudpaw grabbed as many honeycombs as she could in her mouth, which was two, the sweet honey taste hitting her taste-buds. The bees flew out of their destroyed home and didn’t hesitate to sting her over and over again, making her yelp in pain as she finally started to run through the lush forest.

Right back to where Silverthroat was.

Right back to where Silverthroat was.
Finally, Cloudpaw left Silverthroat to his own devices, and he let out a sigh of relief. Ugh, apprentices. Always thinking everyone should help them just because. He didn't watch her leave, simply relaxing into the grass like before, basking in the cool shade the tree provided from above. Finally, some peace and quiet...

At least, for a few minutes, before he heard an irritating buzzing sound. Silverthroat groaned: were there flies around him now? Seriously? Well, whatever. They were more tolerable than the apprentice. He was fine with it... Until he heard them grow louder, and he heard someone running towards his direction. He risked a peek and-

"Oh, you have got to be kidding me," Silverthroat groaned, spotting Cloudpaw with honey in her jaws, trailed and attacked by bees and leading them right to him. Why?! The black tabby hissed and bolted to his legs before sprinting away, heading to the closest water source: a nearby creek. He was well-aware of bees' dislike of water, and he dove right in, hoping to avoid the bees that trailed Cloudpaw. Stupid apprentices and their stupidity...

➣ Ouch. OuCH. OUCH! Over and over again, the small RiverClan apprentice was stung by the furious bees while running as fast as she could. To be honest, Cloudpaw didn’t even really plan on revisiting where Silverthroat was. He was just there and it just happened. Maybe it was karma. The large grumpy tomcat immediately bolted from his spot under a tree and peeled away from her, probably off to somewhere safer where he didn’t have to deal with the bees that followed her. Cloudpaw didn’t follow him and instead ran off to another section of the river that ran through their clan’s hunting grounds. Right before diving in, the black-and-white apprentice dropped the honey on the riverbed and then dove under the water’s surface. Thankfully, Moonfrost had taught her how to swim long ago.

A few moments later, the bees had given up and Cloudpaw popped back up, glancing wildly around before dragging herself back onto the bank of the river. She huffed and laid on her stomach next to the pile of honey that she had gotten, her body hurting in multiple places from the bee stings. Ugh. This was probably a stupid idea, actually.

As soon as he was certain the bees had gone, Silverthroat resurfaced, taking in big gulps air while looking around, cautious in case more came. He didn't see any more bees, but he did spot a certain apprentice, looking like a stung, drowned rat, and he bit back a laugh. Karma, was this what this was? The dark tabby approached the apprentice, keeping a neutral expression while he sat in front of her, tail around his paws and flicking idly.

"What a brilliant display of intelligence. I have to say, I heard the story of Reedlight having to save Goosekit and Spikekit from a river, but I'd never thought I'd see such an intelligent and obviously clever apprentice like you flounder to escape bees through a river before," Silverthroat hummed, trying and failing to keep the biting sarcasm from entering his voice. "Do tell: did you find the herbs you were looking for, O Smart One?"

➣ While laying on the riverbank, trying to catch her breath, the apprentice shouldn’t have been surprised when Silverthroat approached her and sat down directly in front of where Cloudpaw rested. His shadow was casted over her and the words that the RiverClan warrior heavily mocked her, which made the molly’s short ears flatten against her head. However, the names that he soon mentioned made Cloudpaw look up at Silverthroat. “...Goosekit? Spikekit?” The black-and-white apprentice meowed, “Goosekit… He’s… He’s my brother. And Spikekit was one of my best friends back when I was still in the nursery.” She hadn’t heard anyone talk about either of the young tomcats in a very long time. It was a miracle she still remembered them. What ever happened to her family?

She eased herself into a sitting position, her paws stinging painfully and making her wince. “...No. But I won’t be going back to camp empty-pawed.” Cloudpaw meowed, “And that’s what matters to me.” At this point, the RiverClan apprentice was saddened by everything that had happened and wanted to go home. That's all she wanted.

Silverthroat huffed. He had heard the young toms had returned some time ago but, shortly afterwards, went missing again, along with the warrior. He didn't know where they went, but didn't really care, either. He idly listened to her talk about Spikekit and Goosekit shortly, and failed to stop himself from rolling his eyes when Cloudpaw sat up.

"Ya know, walking around while stung is gonna end up bad. Did you know that?" Silverthroat grumbled, shaking his head. He reached out a paw and prodded Cloudpaw, an annoyed look on his face. "I've seen many morons in this Clan, but currently, you take the top spot. But, if you got something, you might wanna head back to camp before the bees decide to come back."
