Exhausted, yet satisfied would be the best descriptor for how Mosstangle felt as she slipped back into camp from sparring with Blackjaw. Her pelt was still a mess of dirt and fluff, but at least her shoulder had stopped bleeding. She made a b-line for the freshkill pile and picked up a rabbit. She looked back at Blackjaw, eyes offering to share before finding a spot on the edge of the clearing.

She put the rabbit down and shook out her pelt. She was hungry, first, then she would groom. As much as it bothered her, she was starving from their fight and needed food.

Mosstangle kept an eye on Morningpaw and Shiverpaw's spar in the corner of her eye as she settled down and bit into the rabbit, relishing the flavor of the fresh-kill, tail tip dancing contently. She was excited to talk about the spar with Blackjaw once her belly no longer ached from hunger.

The tom approached Mosstangle at her nod. he padded over and shook himself out. The dirt and grime covering his fur was enough to make him want to leap into a river in the middle of leaf-bare, but, he was starving. He crouched beside the she-cat and took a bite out of the rabbit. He watched Morningpaw and Shiverpaw in their own little spar, and he purred in delight.

As she ate, Mosstangle gave a small chuckle at the apprentices. "I think I said the same thing about size to Morningpaw when we did his battle training," She whispered to Blackjaw and leaned a bit closer to him. "He kept trying to push and throw, even though I was twice his size." She smiled before taking another bite of the rabbit.

Watching her apprentice, it was a wonder how far he had come in not even a whole moon of training. From a stumbling, clumsy mess who constantly tried the same thing over and over... to a young cat trying out some new tactics with his fellow apprentices. She was quite proud of him, and couldn't imagine that she was even partially responsible for his progress. He was her first apprentice, so it was wild to think about. She figured that she would be a terrible mentor. She hadn't even asked Aldersnarl for help. Not yet, anyway.

Blackjaw purred at her remarks. "I used to be the same way with my mentor," the tom mewed."Always tryna throw more than I weighed," he purred. He took another bite of the rabbit. The tom watched as the two apprentices wrestled around and it took him back to his days as Blackpaw, trying to throw his mentor off of him in a sparring match until his mentor said, "I am 4 times your size and weight, this is why we don't bull rush everything we see,". Blackjaw smirked at the memory.

Mosstangle smiled. "I used to be totally opposite!" She licked her lips and perked her ears. "I always thought I was smaller than I actually was. My mentor would get so frustrated when I tried to fight and fit into spaces like a smaller cat!" She snickered at the memories. Her brother had always been so much bigger than her, she used to think she was actually tiny!

It wasn't until she had grown bigger than her mentor, before even receiving her warrior name, that she finally admitted to herself that she might need to start throwing her weight around in fights instead of wasting her energy by dancing and dodging like smaller cats. That stubbornness as an apprentice did help to improve her speed, though, so she couldn't actually complain.

As she finished her half of the rabbit, Mosstangle finally started grooming away the dirt and grime, playfully bumping into Blackjaw's side as she groomed her other side. This was actually harder to accomplish than she'd thought with her sore she was from their sparring match.

Blackjaw finished his half of the rabbit and began to groom himself as well. Luckily, the stains were coming off but the taste was foul. Nothing he wasn't used to though. It was harder than anticpated with his muscles being so sore, but no way was he staying this dirty. He finished cleaning his right side and moved to his left, headbutting Mosstangle jokingly in the process.

Sneeze, sneeze, sneeze... wait for it... sneeze! Mosstangle blinked and shook her head after her short sneezing fit from the dust coming off of her and Blackjaw's pelts. She paused a moment, testing that she wouldn't go into another sneezing fit, before continuing to groom. If she was glad for one thing, it was that she had short fur instead of long fur. She couldn't imagine the nightmare her pelt would be in this moment if she had been born with longer fur.

She felt the playful headbutt against her side. She turned put an already clean paw on his head as he groomed his side to give herself more leverage to groom her shoulder. Within another moment, she removed her paw and gave a few licks to make sure she left no marks on his white fur.

Blackjaw felt the queens paw on his head, applying subtle pressure to keep stable but not enough to cause an issue. Blackjaw purred in amusement as the she-cat pulled away and cleaned the top of his head. He finished grooming himself, and sat up proudly as his coat gleamed white and clean. He slumped down in a resting position again. "That was hard to do while I'm sore," he mewed. He looked over as Mosstangle. "I guess you're a good fighter," he purred, amused.

Finally done cleaning her dark tabby-and-white pelt, Mosstangle nodded along with Blackjaw. It was difficult with how sore she was, too. The she-cat adjusted into a proper loaf position, paws comfortably folded beneath her chest as she yawned. She glanced at Blackjaw as he spoke.

"I guess you might be a good fighter, too," She purred. She felt like they would both be capable of at least keeping their warrior names during Dawnstar's upcoming sparring event. "But I have to know, what's with the ragdoll strategy? It was pretty frustrating, but I don't necessarily get the point."
