Flutterkit's ears perked towards Floodpaw, her head tilting. "How should I know? It's pitch black!" The kit mewed indignantly, like everyone could see the same darkness she could, her feathery tail flicking. Blind? What did that even mean? And why was mama upset?

Splashcloud's heart sank. Blind? She cried inwardly. Why didn't I think of that? Oh, honey! She crooned to her kit, wrapping her tail around her protectively. You'll be ok. I'm sure Berryshine will help you.

Flutterkit tilted her head in confusion, welcoming her mother's warmth, but this new voice, intruiged her. "Mama- why do you sound sad..? and why is everything black..?" She asked, ears titled forward but head remaining positioned.

"Did I do something wrong mama..?" She murmured, snuggling up into the warmth of her mother, like a comforting light in a sea of darkness. She didn't know what her mama looked like, her father or siblings. How could she?

"Yes mama.." She nodded, relaxing into her mother's warmth, her fur fluffed up from the cold, and pale eyes staring out into nothing, not even needing to blink, The she-kit was eerily calm about the whole thing.

Oh, it's Larkwing. She doesn't know why it comes as a surprise to see her in here. Obviously she'd be here, where else? Even so, Salamanderpaw starts just slightly and then feels appropriately silly for it. She's just getting up to kick her bedding over. She's just offering help. Salamanderpaw's eyes twitch slightly narrower. She wants to snap and assert that she doesn't need any help!! but that's not what Larkwing's asking, is she? Did you want any help. Salamanderpaw doesn't particularly want any help, either, but that's only because she feels there's hardly a difference between wanting it and needing it. If she says no, though, then Larkwing's got nothing to do but sit around and watch it be done, and that seems horribly awkward. Salamanderpaw wills her prickling coat flat. There's no reward for hogging the chores, and there's no sense in getting possessive over them when this isn't her den. She's just being dumb.

"If you wanna help, sure. You don't have to though. Willowtail doesn't want me to think that this is a punishment but I don't know about that." She paws over the dirty bedding that Larkwing's brought her, kicking it toward the mouth of the little cave. "Maybe she just wants the place spotless for when she has to move in here." She glances around the nursery, then back. "If you wanna get that side, there, I can do the nests opposite. Just kick whatever's nasty over to the entrance and we can take trips to chuck it outta camp after." Another quiet pause, this time longer, freckled paws flexing against the soft floor before she gets to work. "How's it going in here?"

At her off to help, Larkwing cannot help but notice the momentary defiance in Salamanderpaw's gaze, it's a look Larkwing recognizes, one she's worn many a time in her own apprentice days. A look that said I don't need your help, in spite of the fact that extra paws and good company always make a task go quicker. Still, the apprentice accepts the offer, and Larkwing is grateful, but she tries not to feel like it had been out of obligation at the same time.

"Alright," she agrees, because it's the easy thing to do, because the conversation that comes after saying 'hey, you know you can tell me no, right?' is not one that will leave either party feeling fine. So a situation where both are aware that this is not exactly what the other wants is something Larkwing can push through. She crosses to the side of the den the apprentice had directed her towards and begins piling together the old bedding that needs replacing.

Patchkit quiet as usual entered the nursery, his head low, as he avoid the other kits and the queens. He scurry to his nest, rather large for him tho enough room for him to stretch and move around and to collect his little trinkets. He quickly hopped into it, tucked against the back of the nest and curled up into a ball, tiny and tired.
