ThunderClan: Life Before 2023's Sinkhole

Stormfang stared straight ahead, not reacting just yet. He had to collect his thoughts first. Of course StarClan would choose her. They always loved cats like Aspenstrike. Rule-followers, cats who did what they were told. StarClan wasn't a big fan of rebels, cats who thought differently. He would not acknowledge or call out Aspenstrike's name.

Unbelievable. That would probably be his only shot, unless something happened to Aspenstrike or Dogbark. For a moment, Stormfang considered that option. Surely, it wouldn't be too hard to lure one out to a remote part of the territory and take care of them there. There was no way to know if he would be chosen after that, however. If he wasn't chosen now, then there was probably no way he would become deputy.

Stormfang shifted. Icicleripple couldn't have made the 'prophecy', if that's what it was, any more confusing if she tried. Something about a flood and falling branches. "What if you're making a mistake?" he challenged, finally saying something. "How do you know that you interpreted it correctly?" @Panda1440

Juniperclaw, at the edge of the crowd, was in a good spot to see the tiny silvery kit stumble out of the nursery. He squinted at her. She seemed... young.. to be out and about.


It felt weird, too, to see kits at all. Rogue queens were notoriously protective of their own offspring. To see a kit just... sitting out, free to roam the camp and she pleased, was a culture shock.


He glanced around, looking for- whoever the kit's mother was- but most of the cats seemed occupied with cheering their new leader and deputy. They didn't just- leave kits out- right?


He got up after a moment and gingerly approached the kit at the edge of the crowd. Oh, this was a bad idea. He was covered in scars and looked like a nightmare.


"Uh," he meowed, sounding mousebrained. He grimaced and went on. "Hey. Should you, uh. Be outside?"

Silverkit jumped, startled by the unfamiliar figure.
She wasn't used to being asked questions like that! But here she was, being noticed by someone so interesting looking.

"Um," they squeaked, catching his unsurity- "No? But Mom might not mind...?"

Juniperclaw trotted into the clearing, observing the cats moving around with sharp eyes.


... he didn't want to sleep in the warriors' den. Realistically he knew he would have to, but it just felt... weird. He tried not to think about it, and instead sat in a patch of softer grass, flicking his tail and watching the clouds in the sky.

The molly grumbled slightly, Why does this Clan have to be so WEAK? She thought angirily, sheathing and unsheathing her claws. Her gaze turned to the newcomer, the loner named Juniperclaw, and sighed. Why did they accept a loner? She had no idea,and didn't like it either.

in one of the rare moments where cornpaw wasn't prancing in the territory and actually in the clearing, he blinked at hearing his name called for a patrol. wait. a patrol!! he'd never been on one - this would be amazing!! especially with all those thorns he slapped onto the riverbutts side of the border. they wouldn't even have to worry about potentially mean riverclanners, because they'd step on the thorns and run away crying!

spinning around wildly and just deciding he couldn't see his patrolmates - he didnt really look - he decided to take matters into his own paws. with a big inhale, he started screeching for the thunderbuddies. "YARROWSHADE!! WOODHEART!! THUNDERCHASERRR! come ON guys!!!" that should be good enough, he thought proudly.

"... right," Juniperclaw meowed. He glanced at the crowd, trying to figure out what to do. Tell her to go back? He could count on one paw the amount of times a cat's done what he said without a fuss. Find her mother? Did she even know her mother's name? How happy would a mother be with him, a relative stranger, next to her kit?



How happy would a mother be if her kit got squashed at a meeting, though?



He sighed and groomed a paw. "Be careful not to get crushed," he said, and grimaced- that came out sounding like a threat. "I mean- you're small. Just be careful."


He cast around for a subject change. "Did you want to listen to the meeting?"

"Okay, wrong. You do not have many mistakes and this is definetely not gonna be one of them!" Cloverkit corrected with a huff, shaking their head. Man, they needed to work on this mindset but all in due time. They leaned over to give Rosekit a nudge, grinning.

"That's my gal! Now go get em, anyone! Befriend them! Talk! You gott thiss!!!" Cloverkit squealed, their stubby tail wagging to the entrance of the nursey. It was time. Oh, they were so proud.

Rosekit, woth a very confused and slightly cringing face slunk away. This might work. Yeah, it might. It couldn't be that hard, friendship meant just being nice, right? She could do that. Hopefully.

Juniperclaw felt more than saw someone looking at him. He glanced up and caught the gaze of a young cat, who was working her claws into the ground.


Well, she clearly didn't like him. Weirdly enough, that was reassuring. Juniperclaw knew what to do with cats who didn't like him. It was friendliness that was jarring.


She was too young for him to be worried about it. He barred his teeth at her in a mocking grin. and lay down, his paws folded neatly. If she had a problem, she'd have to talk to him.

"C-crushed?" She squeaked nervously. "U-Um... I don't get right in the middle of everything, so... er..."
They straightened, sensing that this tom wanted them to not be scared or nervous.

"I'll be careful! Yeah."

She licked her shoulder, then looked towards the tom again.

"The meeting was amazing!" she squeaked, happiness illuminating the edges of her voice.
Then she took a mouse-heartbeat to go through all the questions she had.
"You listened to it too, right? Do you know what a dog is?" @tomatosoup

Yarrowshade was glad the dogface had actually assigned her a patrol. Still fuming for nit being chosen, albeit with a strange lightness added to her, she was glad she got to lead at least this.
"Stop yelling, you obnoxious child!" she hissed at Cornpaw as they gathered.
