High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

Only one. Disappointing, but it was the others' faults they wouldn't be getting their names today. Too bad for them.

Bumblestar shifted in her spot on the Stormcrest as Lightningkit finally came forward. "From now until you earn your warrior name, you'll be known as Lightningpaw [ @TheLostAmongTheStars ]. Tinypine [ @raggedstalagmite. ] will be your mentor."

She gave Lightningpaw a moment to revel before moving on. Late babies didn't get special opportunities.

"I wanna briefly cover for all of you the deal with WindClan. I wasn't aware of Spiderthroat's little escapades at the border 'till after I'd already named him my deputy, and in case you've missed out on the last Gathering, they're demanding his head or his demotion." Her tail swatted the rock irritably. "I'm not doing that. The other Clans spent moons walking over us at every turn and I'm done letting that happen. They get neither; Spiderthroat's remaining ThunderClan's deputy. But that doesn't mean I'm willing to start some kind of war over this either.

"StarClan's offered me some very interesting information. Apparently WindClan's been suffering a bout of poisoning as well. Whether or not it's from RiverClan, I don't know. But it's clear they don't have a cure, so since the poison seems to be seeping out of us, Spiderthroat will be delivering the remaining herbs to Twilightstar at the Gathering, alongside doing whatever else she might want so long as it's reasonable. I won't be handing over any of my Clanmates to appease any other cat. Spiderthroat isn't allowed anywhere near the WindClan border unless they start something, 'n I advise the rest of you to be cautious too. Don't provoke 'em - if I catch you doing something stupid, I will be handing you over so WindClan can deal with you." Bumblestar raked a cold gaze over the gathered group. "I hope I make myself clear."

Roseraven had a bad feeling about Spiderthroat's position. He seemed like they type to jump to violence too quickly. And, after learning, he'd actively killed cats at the border. She liked him less and less. Cats of the clans had a chronic problem with treating each other like crap just because they're from different groups and fighting over meaningless imaginary lines. She was happy to hear Bumblestar was willing to de-escalate the situation. Perhaps their shared traumatic childhood, littered either meaningless conflict abd misunderstandings, had inspired that decision.

"I volunteer to accompany him, if you intend to send anyone along with him. I think it will, despite the higher number of cats, appear less hostile if he's supervised." Lest he say anything crass. Roseraven wasn't normally this outspoken, but she couldn't help but imagine a scenario where Spiderthroat arrived, some WindClan cat got passed and didn't believe him, he spewed a bunch of insults at WindClan, kills several of them, dies, Bumblestar freaks out that her peace emissary got killed, and war begins.

Rainpaw and Cloudkit watched in fear, that cold, cold stare of Bumblestar's.. Rainpaw wrapped her tail protectively around Cloudkit. "Rainpaw, don't... don't go near windclan, you heard what bumblestar said..." Cloudkit whispered. "Dont worry, I wont..." Rainpaw whispered.
Blacknight and Moonheart watched in fear, Blacknight more in interest. "Dont.. don't you dare, blacknight." Moonheart whispered, harshly but fear in her voice.
Swiftheart stared wide eyed at Bumblestar, shocked and in fear.

Wolfpaw twitched his ears as he glanced over at where Spiderthroat was sitting. He wasn't sure he believed the murder accusations-- he couldn't recall the last time he saw Spiderthroat do anything beyond calling patrols-- but, he trusted Bumblestar's judgement above all else and was going to follow her call on the matter. No screwing around the border for him (not that he planned on it, anyway.)

He was curious to see if the herb offer would help to soothe tensions. It seemed like a small price to pay given the circumstances, but if WindClan could figure out how to use it to treat their sickness then it might be for the best.

Fighting WindClan was not high on his list of to-dos. They had always been on neutral terms with ThunderClan, at least to his knowledge, and he had no bone to pick with them. Of course, if Bumba saw it as the best course of action, he would listen without hesitation - he was just glad they weren't at that point yet. RiverClan and ShadowClan were enough trouble.

Featherpaw tilted her head at Bumblestar's words, considering. Had RiverClan been poisoning WindClan too? And why was StarClan involving them in WindClan's affairs, anyway?
