With Birdsnow's words, Fadingsun's fears were confirmed. Larkstar and Tansypaw were, indeed, gone. Tansypaw had seemingly left the Clan, presumably taking and destroying RiverClan's herbs before doing so. As for Larkstar, her ultimate fate was unknown, but to Fadingsun it sounded like she had met a grisly end.
His heart clenched for both of them. They'd had so much weight piled on to their shoulders, with little help from the majority of the Clan. Instead of support, what they'd gotten was belittling, disrespect, and at times straight-up threats.
His grief quickly began to turn into anger. Not even anger- fury. Fadingsun set his jaw, a sudden light blossoming into his eyes. This all could've been prevented. None of this had to happen. RiverClan truly was in shambles, and while they all could've done better (including him), in his mind most of the blame lay on only some shoulders.
Fadingsun was so consumed in his sudden anger that he didn't notice the commotion with Bluefang and Fangkit; he was vaguely aware of Dusklion talking to someone, but he wasn't paying attention to who. Fortunately, by the time he rose to let venom spit from his tongue the situation had mostly been handled by others.
"This Clan is a disgrace," he snarled, loud enough for his voice to rise above the chatterings of others. "Larkstar and Tansypaw's departures are just another blow against this den of sticks RiverClan has become. But I don't put a lot of blame on them. Could Tansypaw have made better choices? Perhaps, but she was a child."
He turned so that he was facing most of the Clan. "Over the past couple of moons, this Clan has been a disaster. There are some of you who are really trying- but most of you are sad excuses for Clan cats. Instead of respecting the hierarchy you agreed to obey by being part of this Clan, you belittled them, harassed them, sometimes even threatened them."
Fadingsun gave a quick lash of his tail. "I know you know who you are, those of you who caused nothing but problems for our leadership. Could many of us, including myself, have done better? Absolutely. But our lack of effort pales in comparison to those of you spitting in the face of the cats trying to lift this Clan out of the grave its previous leaders have dug for it.
"Those of you who openly defied Larkstar, Tansypaw, and Birdsnow, those of you who insulted them, plotted to overthrow them, and deliberately disobeyed them with no reason other than your own selfishness, are nothing more than pathetic. You're selfish, moronic, and have no right to call yourselves Clan cats. I hope you feel guilty over what's happened here; it's largely because of you. You deserve to go to your nests feeling guilty."
His anger was spilling over now, but he made no effort to stop it. "If we want to see actual change here, we need to start putting effort in. And I mean all of us. No more whining, no more "me, me, me!" attitudes, no more stupidity. If you lack sufficient brain capacity or are too selfish to get your crap together, then like Birdsnow said, get out. Nobody will miss you, I can assure you that."
His gaze swung towards Cherryswirl; he was unsure of where Cliffjumper and Nightspark were, but his words were for them as well. "Cherryswirl. For a Lionheart, you certainly haven't been doing much more than many warriors. Where were you when our high ranks were getting bullied, when cats were repeatedly causing problems both in and out of camp? I've seen you around some, especially recently, but for the most part you've been pretty absent. I hope you get it together, because this Clan is counting on you. Springpaw can't do it alone.
"On that note, I haven't seen Cliffjumper around in ages so I don't know why they're still a Lionheart. As for Nightspark, they haven't done enough to warrant being head Lionheart. Where have they been? Why haven't they been going above and beyond to help pull this Clan out of the mud? Where is the respect on the Lionheart rank? This is a special rank, for stars' sake! Yet, it seems like we've forgotten that. Lionhearts are supposed to be supporting RiverClan's high ranks and keeping everything running smoothly, yet how can they do that when they're hardly around?"
He shook his head. "If we don't get our act together, RiverClan is finished. Our ancestors will look down on us with nothing but shame. We will have failed, and we will carry that burden for the rest of our lives. So shape up! Listen to Birdsnow, respect her as a leader, or dammit I'll drag your ass out of this Clan myself."
Now out of breath, he sat down. His whole body was trembling, but it was with anger and adrenaline, not fear.

Amberwing tried to keep her tail from thrashing. She needed to be calm, obviously. But nothing could go right, could it? She just hoped she would be able to help the clan as a whole eventually.

ThunderChaser
She/Her - Active Power Card Since 2021
A golden pelted cat with black features and scars that littered her body
"Thunderstorms are as much our friends as the sunshine"
Lightning in a drying out river.
This. This was all so true Fading was speaking the absolute truth. This clan was in ruins, and those ruins were about to come crumbling down, if something wasn't changed. There were a few issues she wanted to share but never got around to it. She took Fading's speech as a sign to do the same.
Stepping forward her tail swishing about and ear flicking at every step, she stood right beside Fadingsun. What she wanted to say exactly? Thunderchaser didn't know herself. She'd let her mind construct the sentences before she opened her mouth.
"I agree with Fadingsun. This clan is going to hell now, and it shouldn't be all burdened by Birdsnow now that Lark and Tansy are gone. Back up your new leader now like you did before. Instead of sitting on your asses; offer to go on patrols, help with herbs. Take on training new apprentices. And I know
I'm one to talk, but right now I'm offering myself to help Bird out. You all should do the same." This was stupid, the clan wouldn't listen, atleast that's what she thought.
"Lionhearts. You guys are an entirely different issue. You guys do the bare minimum to qualify for you ranks. Special rank my ass. It's just an ego booster. NightSpark needs to be removed from head LionHeart they've done nothing but wonder around and yell at other cats. I haven't seen anything from CherrySwirl regarding the high ranks either. the rest I have no knowledge about so I wont speak on them. LionHeart's are supposed to be literally be the hearts of RiverClan. Supporting when needed. Supporting your leader when needed."
ThunderChaser was getting heated, she normally didn't care for RiverClan affairs but she wont have a clan to live in, if it was destroyed from the inside out.
"Now all of you. RiverClan has always had a decent population, but I have yet to see where we're doing anything... at all. I'll take charge of something. Anything at this point to get this recovery of a clan started. Cause Starclan knows we need it."
She directed her last sentence straight to BirdSnow. They were a smart cat, surely they would understand that the clan was falling apart and something needed to be done. To be frank Thunder was tired of sitting and doing nothing all day... well not nothing exactly. She'd been busy with other projects, but she wanted something new to do!
Looking up with a grin as her brother approached and head-butted her shoulder, Dusklion gave a shrug of her shoulders. "It doesn't shock me anymore, if I'm bein' truthful. I do hope for the Clan's sake that Birds up there brings us back up to where we once were..." It would be a difficult task, and if the Clan thought it would all rest on their new leader's shoulders, well then Dusk wouldn't mind teaching them a lesson. "...I can only imagine how disappointed Lions is... or Fury... Bitey, Smalls, wherever they are..." In a rare moment of emotion flickering in her chest that wasn't cocky ambition, Dusk felt her heart clench in grief.
Soon enough the meeting commenced and it was exactly what she had expected; Tansypaw and Larkstar both gone. Also as expected, cats began to immediately offer to search - as if Birdsnow hadn't just explained that's exactly what she did. "Sendin' out another search party will waste valuable resources we can't afford to expend right now. 'Sides, Birdsnow look already she said." Mouse-brains, the whole lot of them. Blue eyes side-eyed both Cherryswirl, Sorrelblaze, and Falconflight before flickering back up to Birds.
A lot of cats were either shocked, stunned, or speaking their advice and unwavering commitment to Birds. Dusklion wrinkled her nose; half of them would probably murder her given the chance to take her place, to their "heartfelt" promises were nothing but words right now - at least to her. Still though, she figured offering her two cents couldn't hurt.
"Ugh, time to pluck some whiskers," she mumbled to Fadingsun with a smirk before getting up and crossing over near the front. "Bluesy, love, how about you not pick on kits yeah? Sound good? Great." With a wink given to the warrior and a nod to Fangkit if she wanted to come sit by her, Dusklion looked to Birdsnow. "Well, you got me Birds. Anythin' you need." And then for added reassurance, a smile. There, support tossed in. Not much, because she fully planned to back it up with actions.
"Now, I don't know about you all, but Birds had a lot of good stuff to say. It takes a whole Clan to thrive, not just one cat. Things've gotta change 'round here if we want to be known as a Clan. I mean, for stars sake, Bumblebrain padded right in with her tail high 'n acted like she was the damn leader! You can't sit there as true RiverClan cats 'n tell me you're warriors after that - 'n that includes myself!" There was no anger in her voice or eyes, just frustration. "So shape up, listen to our damn leader, and maybe we can get back to being a Clan."
That was about it. Taking a seat where she was she glanced down at Fangkit with a smile (if the kitten had come over) "Hey you're pretty cool for a kid. Fangkit, right?" she murmured, so as to not interrupt the meeting further.

Fangkit slowly blinks at the tom, eyes growing wider as she just stares at him. To hell if he was talking to her like that. Her mouth just falls open is shock. “EXCUSE ME, YOU FUZZBRAIN? WHO DO YOU THINK YOU’RE TALKING TO?!” She hissed loudly at him. “I clearly have more sense than a full warrior! Like I said, Birdsnow said the exit that way if you wanna keep complaining about our leadership!” Fangkit news at him, hackles raised as she stands to her full height, tail lashing wildly behind her. Defend what you think is right, the line repeated a few times in their head as fang stares at the warrior waiting for his next stupid statement that would probably send the short tempered child over the edge of full on insulting him.
PINEFIRE she/her. 14 moons. mottled brown and off-white tabby with orange eyes
(purrks; just a scratch, master scout)
jeez, riverclan was really becoming a thunderclan junior, weren't they?
pinefire frowns as birdsnow speaks. tansypaw and larkstar, both gone. it doesn't sound like larkstar left willingly (and in her mind, she doesnt believe the leader would at all), but tansypaw..it's a completely different story. taking a whole bunch of herbs, some destroyed? "I guess she wanted to take riverclan down with 'er. jeez." pinefire grumbles under her breath, slightly irritated. sure she was a child, but if she was getting that stressed out to the point she decided to take herbs and run off — why wouldn't she just step down? sure bullying wasn't right, but in her opinion? there's really nobody that's right.
but really, now what are they going to do with no healer and little to no herbs? her tail lashes with growing worry.
as birdsnow continues talking, orange eyes scan the crowd and spot minkpaw. the tabby makes her way to her apprentice, aiming a small nudge at the bengal. "hey, squirt. you okay?" she asks, taking notice of minkpaw's anxious demeanor. "everything'll be fine, 'kay?" she reassures, ears swiveling and catching something. her attention shifts from the younger molly to another apprentice, hailpaw of she remembers correctly. her eyes narrow at the tom. what was he yapping about?
"who cares? the whole clan cares! what d'you think you're gonna do when you get hurt or sick, huh? ain't no medicine cat here anymore. I'm guessin' you ain't got any herbal knowledge, either." pinefire chides, glaring at the apprentice. seriously, what's his problem? the hell, she thinks with a snort. she's faintly aware of cherryswirl saying something about a search party. for larkstar? the tabby wouldn't be against it. but tansypaw chose to abandon her clan, and in pine's mind, she didn't deserve a search party.
[ @al3cc766 - if ur open to interactions w/ mink!! I was unsure if it applied to both.
@Swiftheart <3 ]
Wait...no no no no no where did Tansy go?? God, she deserved so much better. This all could've been avoided had some cats just kept out of trouble. All of this. Why couldn't there ever be a moment of peace? A moment where the clan could just get along with eachother and treat eachother with respect?? Riverclan doesn't have a healer anymore because of their own actions. It's even worse when you think about the innocent cats who were actually kind and respectful. Those cats don't get anything either because of the cats who were rude. And Tansypaw must've been stressed and fed up with this clan. She was their friend! Whether or not if Tansypaw did think Sunsetpaw was her friend, Sunsetpaw sure did think she was their friend!
And Larkstar too! Larkstar was a great leader! She could've made riverclan into a great clan had everyone just listened to her. But now she's gone. No where to be found. The apprentice silently hoped that the she-cat'll come back to the clan as well...though...with how she was treated it was unlikely. Wherever the two are, they hoped the two are safe and happy. Wherever in the outskirts they are. Around cats that are more respectful. How did riverclan become this? Everything could've been avoided. Every one of this. The clan is falling apart. Aren't high ranks supposed to be respected? Sunsetpaw could've tried. They could've at least tried to talk to them both. Maybe they could've helped them..even if just a little bit. But they didn't. And now they can't do anything about it.
Or maybe their words wouldn't have any impact. Their words have never truly helped anyone, has it? They tried, but they could never do much. Had they ever even succeed in helping anyone? When was the last time? Other than a thing or two, they can't remember. Would it be better if they just...stayed quiet? No, they have to keep trying. Maybe someday it'll work. Someday their help will make someone's day. But what if it doesn't and they make it worse? Are they seriously unsure? Just, think about this later. Now is not the time
"I believe in you, Birdsnow" they said, before turning their head to Cherryswirl. Search party! Yea! Maybe they could still come back? "i'll join the search party, i want to help as much as i could" but what if they don't find them? Would they just...go back to the clan and say they didn't find the two? What if on or both of them really does need help but they can't find them? How far could one go? And where?
[Totally didn’t make this post yesterday and just posted it now]
The confirmation from the warriors made Cherry smile softly, giving Sorrelblaze and Falconflight a reassuring nod. Though, golden eyes quickly matched blue as Cherryswirl turned to look at Dusklion. There was no anger in her gaze and no malice in her tone despite a pair of pinned ears,
"If there's a chance one or both of them are in trouble or hurt, then using those available and willing is hardly a waste of our resources. Especially when Birdsnow did find blood and scent." Her voice wavered slightly, giving away the worry behind it. Though, the feline offered a soft genuine smile to her as she responded, "It's only a request, should Birdsnow find it necessary. We can't begin to guess the amount of those who may go seeking answers alone. Together we are stronger and safer." And as she was about to settle back into her seat beside Fishfreckle, another booming voice nearly sent her hackles flying like they were about to head into battle! Oh! Looked like it was Fadingsun! Oh wow. Yes it was. After Fadingsun, soon Thunderchaser spoke up as well. And boy did she fall silent. Her brows furrowed, biting back a more defensive and impulsive response. She had grown quite fond of Tansypaw, if no one else - having gone out to collect herbs with her and make quite a few runs. She wasn't interested in the pats on the back though, if her clanmates felt she wasn't nearly as involved as she should be then that was that. Cherryswirl had no issue admitting when she was wrong. Sucking in quiet, calming breath, Cherryswirl let her gaze sweep over both Fadingsun and Thunderchaser, as well as any others who may have caught her gaze,
"You're right. I wasn't here when I was needed most, nor did I rise to the expectations and standards placed on me with the role of Lionheart..." She dipped her head respectfully, her tone genuinely apologetic, "....My reasoning doesn't excuse it. I can't speak for the others... But, I'm here now. I love my clan and I want to see us grow and thrive as I know you all do. I will do all I can to make sure we achieve that. I felt that way under Larkstar's leadership, and I do now too." Cherryswirl paused, before letting her gaze wander upwards towards Birdsnow,
"I'm sorry." She meowed, her gaze softening before she settled back down quietly. If there were any other issues, they could be handled after the meeting. And, if Birdsnow determined that she no longer could handle the responsibility of the role - Cherryswirl would accept that with her head held high and still keen on helping her clan how she could. That was what mattered, right? Though, as another voice chirped up nearby, Cherryswirl turned her head to look at Sunsetpaw,
"As long as it's alright, you are more than welcome to come to search with us, Sunsetpaw." She gave the apprentice a reassuring smile.

she shook her head at the first question, shifting closer to pinefire, no thought spent on the possibility that the older molly would mind the closeness. "i really liked tansypaw" she sniffled, that being the closest she would get to admitting how she felt about the situation. she silently watched her mentor scold another apprentice for his braindead behaviour. the molly couldnt understand how he had even come to that conclusion, with that opinion he could just leave the clan and fend for himself alone....which would be what every cat would have to do if they didnt get their clan sorted out-
before the other apprentice could answer she shifted "i know a bit about herbs you know-".

Was he seriously just going to ignore her like that? How pathetic! “Yeah! Ignore me like you ignore everything else in this clan, you pathetic, lowlife, soggy piece of moss! Stay quiet, it looks good on you! Absolute loser.” Fangkit scowls at the warrior as Dusklion chimed in, finally, someone with sense! Fangkit stuck out her tongue at Bluefang as the tears grew at the corner of their eyes, before leaving, finding a place next to Dusklion.
The warrior went on to speak about something with Birdsnow, Fangkit didn’t pay attention, she was busy trying to not cry out of frustration. Face flushed from the previous events. Ears downwards as she picked at the grass below them. White paws getting a bit dusty in color as she look up, head turning towards Dusklion as the warrior spoke to fang. A wide smile slowly appearing on the kitten face as the warrior finished speaking. Ears now perked towards the scarred shecat. “Yeah, yup, mhm! That’s me!”
