Applebees glanced around the territory getting a judge from which would be a good chance of catching anything. She thought fishing was better than trying to snatch land prey. Too many of those little guys tend to hide during the cold something she didn't find any surprise in. "Hmm, Fishing is definitely a better idea though if any of ya'll want to have a try at land hunting be my guest" she agreed with Ripplepelt. She turned her attention to Treepaw when the other asked them the question. It for sure wouldn't hurt to give the apprentice a lesson not like fishing was the hardest thing to do in the clan. Well in her opinion it wasn't, it was one of her favorite things to do besides taking walks around the clan. "That's alright, we sure can give you a lesson for fishing, you might even get lucky and snag the biggest fish 'round here on your first try!" nothing hurt but a bit of encouragement for the young ones, the clan sure needed it.
Treepaw smiled and nodded, even though he kinda was... uh... 9 moons, he still hadn't figured out fishing! He tried on his own... but no luck. Hopefully he could learn here.
`` I've tried jabbing a fish, I heard something about "hooking" but I don't know what it means `` He explained `` could one of you help please? ``
Two unfamiliar scents mingled with the air as Jingle and Jangle, twin cats aside from their ears- Jingle had folded ears while Jangle had curled ears- slowly and timidly padded through the territory. One was mute while the other could speak, but Jingle always knew what Jangle wanted to say. The two also happened to be children of a cat called Zephyr, an ancient tom- and they were siblings of Charredpaw's father. While looking around lost and confused, a new scent mingled with the air and Darkdeception approached the two.
"Scuse me, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave as you are tresspassing on Riverclan territory." He spoke softly and calmly, as so not to scare the two while keeping his tail high.
"Sorry, sir. We didn't know. Uhh... Which way is out of the territory?" Jingle asked in confusion. Jangle gave a soft nod and used her tail to make a small question mark. "And my sister here has asked who you are."
"My name is Darkdeception, I am a Riverclan cat. The way out should be that way." He gestured with his tail. With a small smile and a soft ear twitch, he watched the two cats leave with their tails entwined. He hoped met them in the future. They seemed nice.

At her patrol leader's approval, Ripplepelt padded towards the river. It was a little cold to be getting her paws wet for her liking, but the clan had to eat.
"I'd be happy to give you a quick lesson," Ripplepelt mewed to Treepaw. The more cats who could catch fish while the land prey went to hide from the leaf-bare cold, the better.
Ripplepelt's ears pricked as they approached the river, taking comfort in the familiar sound of the water rushing. Maybe she was getting on in years - the noise seemed quieter than usual. As she approached though, she realised her ears weren't the problem. The river water reached lower than it usually would, especially for leaf-bare. She narrowed her eyes.
They could report that to Birdsnow later. For now, their job was catching prey, not investigating.
Ripplepelt sat next to the river, motioning for Treepaw to watch. "To catch a fish, you need to use your claws to hook into it and pull it out of the water, either onto the riverbank or into your teeth." She unsheathed her claws, waiting for a fish to get close enough to catch. "Watch where you sit, too - if your shadow is in the water, you'll alert the fish and scare them off."
As she watched with alert eyes for a fish to demonstrate on, she noticed there seemed to be less than usual - maybe it had to do with the dropping water level? Finally, a trout swam her way.
[roll to catch: 16]
Quick as a flash, Ripplepelt hooked the fish out of the water and into her mouth, biting down to stop it's thrashing and placing it in the grass a little way away from the riverbank.
She waited for a moment to watch Treepaw try so she could give him advice if needed, then continued her search for more fish.
[roll to find fish (disadvantage): 9]
She let out a sigh. There didn't seem to be much else in the river, which would be worrying even without the land prey making themselves scarce as well. It was definitely something to report back to Birdsnow.
Resigned to doing some land hunting, she darted back to where the other two were to let them know. "I can't see much else in the river - I'm going to try my luck on land," she mewed, then padded a little way away, staying within earshot.
[roll perception: 19. roll to catch: nat 1 T-T]
Ripplepelt opened her mouth, letting the scents of the territory coat her tongue. The smell of vole filled her mouth and she dropped into a crouch, eyes fixed on the prey. It was surprisingly fat, nibbling noisily on some greenery by the riverbank. She inched her way towards it. As she got closer, she leapt, claws outstretched.
She completely misjudged the jump, ending up with her front in the river and water up her nose. She scrabbled out of the river with a hiss, vole already long gone.
"Foxdung!" she growled, shaking the water off. Cold and wet and nothing to show for it, she stalked further away from the river, tail lashing. She wouldn't be making the mistake of jumping near the river again!
[roll perception: nat 1 (DICE JAIL!!)]
It seemed the noise of her missed vole had scared any other prey off. She headed back to the river, cold and grumpy. At least she'd caught a trout, so she wouldn't be heading back completely empty pawed.

Treepaw paused, crouching by the river. He watched as a shadow of a fish washed on by. He pawed at it splashed on to the grass. He jumped back in surprise as it started flopping up and down, he bit it's neck, killing it.
``I did it! I did it! Did you see that? I did it! Antlerblizzard would be proud! Yay! I did it! `` He purred
