"Snowstripe." Flypaw answered. She was pleased that the leader liked the gift. She took a small bite out of the fish. She wanted Kestrelstar to have most of it so she tried not to take bites that were to big.

Snowstripe... that was a familiar name to him. Kestrelstar nodded as he recalled the molly being made a warrior by Lionstorm after Sootflare's disappearance - and along with his memory the sting of tears. But Kestrelstar didn't shed a tear in front of Flypaw, nor did he show any emotion in regards to it.
"She seems to be doing a good job if you caught this on your first try," he replied, taking another bite before getting to his paws. That was all he would allow himself to eat before the guilt from his mother potentially watching him eat above the queens and kits got to him. With a small nod in Flypaw's direction, he gestured to the fish with one of his paws. "Feel free to finish that, or bring it to the queens and kits. I hope you keep sharpening your skills and get prepared for your warrior assessment. I look forward to seeing what you can catch then."

Gone was the familiar light in his yellow eyes as Kestrelstar sat in his den, staring blankly at the wall before him. The days passed slowly it seemed, but all blended together. So far there hadn't been any luck in spotting Frozenberry, and with each day that passed without spotting them Kestrelstar felt himself crumbling. But he still had to be here for his Clanmates. He still had to be their leader.
So when a voice announced their presence in his den, the gray tabby swung his head to see who it was. "Stormclaw," he greeted flatly, voice in a monotone as he barely registered that Oceanpaw was with him. "What did she see?"

Blizzardsky hung his head low, hopefully he hadn’t traumatized two many kits leaving Petuniaflame’s body on the back side of the nursery, but he had to be there for his mate and meet his newborn kits. He sadly went behind the nursery and picked up his sister’s body and silently carried her into Kestrelstar’s den before gently setting her body down,” I should have reported this earlier…but Heronflight was kitting…sorry.” he murmured starting to leave the den, Kestrelstar didn’t like him he probably should leave now before he got angry with him for intruding in his den. They didn’t get along afterall.

Re: RiverClan Leader's Den
Pacing back and forth, from wall to wall, Kestrelstar's brows furrowed in thought, yellow eyes dancing with concern. Something had to be done. All the preparations were in place, and the strength it was taking to not leap right into action was immense. But Splashleap was doing good in keeping his head level - his and Snakeheart's - and despite the anger he had initially felt, not even he could argue against the logic of it.
The only thing now that could change his mind would be if another ThunderClan warrior were to go out of their way and attack another RiverClanner, like that idiotic one had done to Splashleap. One more torn ear or scratched pelt and Kestrelstar wouldn't hesitate any longer.
Oh, how the stars has a cruel sense of irony.
Blood and decay reached his nose before anything else, and as Kestrelstar turned to match the face to the voice he already knew, something made his blood turn to ice. Cold and unforgiving, pounding in his head and twisting his insides. No. No they couldn't take her. She was too young. But the white and ginger fur came into view and Kestrelstar felt the bile rise up in his throat.
"Petunia..." His words felt choked, trying to rise from a throat that was closing in around itself. All sound dulled around him and he could feel his heart quicken in his chest. She had just been made a warrior. There was so much life that she had ahead of her...
He wasn't the one hurt most by this though, he knew.
The white warrior was already turning around, half way out of the den, when Kestrelstar found his voice once more. "Blizzardsky." It was strained, just like before. Padding forward, the gray tabby came to stand before Petuniaflame's still body, yellow gaze sweeping over it. Guilt and grief was pouring over him, momentarily drowning out the anger.
Returning his gaze to Blizzardsky, their yellow depths hardened. "...They won't get away with this." Kestrelstar didn't have to ask. He didn't have to know who was responsible for the young she-cat's death; the scent was all over her. Blizzardsky was... he was injured to. Gesturing with his tail, he nodded for the tom to come join him.

Well this was news. There had been no patrol reports of any cats by Splashleap, and Kestrelstar trusted his deputy to keep an eye on that. Perhaps it was ThunderClan trying to push their luck? If that was the case, the next Gathering would be interesting. He had already warned Eveningstar to keep his cats in line - the RiverClan leader wasn't responsible for any actions he was forced to take if the other tom couldn't control his own Clan.
"If it ran away, I don't think it was trying to attack. Otherwise it would've attacked," Kestrelstar snorted, a bit confused as to why Oceanpaw would draw that conclusion. Regardless, he'd pass it on to Splashleap to have the next round of patrols keep an eye out. "Thank you for telling me. Is that all?" he asked, wondering if there was more to report or if that was it.

Good. That's what Kestrelstar needed; the apprentices focused on their assessments and training and not the tensions that were rising between RiverClan and ThunderClan. Giving Flypaw a nod, Kestrelstar replied, "Yes, as long as the queens and kits have been attended to first." He was certain they were, but figured he'd remind her for good measure. Giving a flick of his tail, the leader dismissed the apprentice from his den.

Blizzardsky stopped as he turned around slowly and without a second thought just ran over to Kestrelstar pressing himself against the toms fur feeling tears run down his face,” It should have been me…The Thunderclanner was about to kill me when she got herself in between me and the Thunderclanner, she…she gave up her life to save mine…I should be the one she’s bringing back to camp…” he whispered, he had to also needed to mention the kits that were just born,” Albatrossflame….that’s the name of the murderous Thunderclanner who killed her.” he meowed hopefully a name would be helpful,” I tried to kill him, but he got away” he added feeling bad about the fact he didn’t kill Albatrossflare, he didn’t quite get the name right, but he got it quite close hopefully enough that Thunderclan could id the right cat.

"Ok!" She meowed and dipped her head in respect to Kesterelstar before leaving the den. That definitely went well! She thought happily to herself. @ spade
