Wishkit stepped up. The six moon old was very nervous about becoming an apprentice, mostly because she didn't want to have to get in water again, for the first time since her swimming kit curriclum lesson and she REALLY didn't want to have to learn how to fight.

Rabbitkit stepped up. Before Blossomkit's death she would have been excited but now all the six moon old could think about was that Blossomkit should be here with her and not in StarClan. Without Blossomkit she couldn't bring herself to care that she was being apprenticed.

Sparrowkit stepped up, looking like she didn't care. The fact she had been born missing one of her front feet didn't slow her down at all. It never had. She was happy that she was being apprenticed but why would she bother to show it? She wasn't even sure that she deserved to become an apprentice. The six moon old wished Mom, Cottonkit, and Squrrielkit could be here, but they had been missing for a while, Mom for the longest. She still sometimes wondered who her Dad was and why she had never met him. She didn't know who her mentor would be. Not that it mattered. She couldn't trust whoever they were anyways. She couldn't trust any living cats except maybe any that she already trusted, except maybe kits. Not anymore. Not ever again. She wasn't sure if she could even trust herself anymore. @poppy

ACK-! She's late!! She's like super late. Why didn't anyone wake her up?? Seriously, the nerve of some of the other apprentices! She wants to know what's going on and if they're gonna claw those ThunderClan losers back!! Maybe she could convince Slatestripe that battle training before anything else is the most important. Honestly, considering the fact that their home had just been raided and she hadn't been able to help would probably only bolster her case in convincing points.

Skidding to a stop in the crowd, Wrenpaw watches as some kits step up to Birdsnow - oh, are there new apprentices joining her in the den? That'll be fun, plenty more people to flaunt her greatness- ah, she means, to have a friendly rivalry with. Sitting down, the young molly begins grooming her slightly ruffled chest fur as she watches.

Minnowsplash smiled fondly at the little cats scampering to receive their mentors. Although it was unlikely they would receive an apprentice (they were hardly even a warrior, much less an experienced one), the thought of new cats aspiring to carry on the warrior code lightened their heart. Even through the midst of so much loss, joy would always find its way. Minnowsplash purred softly. This, this moment was why the ThunderClan rats would never be able to tear RiverClan down. This was why RiverClan would always rise to the top, despite day after day of suffering. This was the reason why Minnowsplash would gladly give their life for the clan. I wish all of StarClan is watching, they thought. Today, these apprentices show the skies what it means to get back up again.

Bonekit's heart Raced with emotions as he heard his name. He had waited so long for this. what was this feeling? his; apprentice ceremony? he froze for a moment then Padded up as he was told. tears down his face. Finally, this was what he was waiting for. this was his moment! he could show everyone that even though he was blind he would become the best warrior the forest has ever seen. even if he had to work harder. he sat down in front of the rock looking proudly as he waited for his next call. he was bigger than all the other kits. after all he was 7 moons! so many warriors mistook him for an apprentice! finally. no more weak shaming. he was going to be an apprentice!

MorningMimic looked over. He had been in the nursery with his kits for the first part of the meeting, but better late then never. He padded over, sitting down.

Toadpaw listened. So some kits were being apprenticed huh? Meh. All of the cats in the world except her could die for all she cared as long as she became leader first. The blind apprentice knew that she would have to pretend to be happy in order to fit in for now and eventually stand out and become leader. (Open)

“One day I’ll be the greatest warrior of all the clans!”

Adderpaw wanted to say a few more things to Seabreeze, but was disappointed he didn't take up her call to action. Oh well, suppose all she could do was add more wind to his sails so hopefully get him out of that way of thinking. These things had to take time it seemed.

She pulled her attention away from Seabreeze as she heard Birdsnow speak up again. Her heart softened when she heard her leader take a more nuanced approach to outsiders and loners. Adderpaw was beyond thankful that she never had to enact the kill on sight order on them—Especially after having killed a cat herself. Never again did she want to do something so horrible again. Adderpaw felt like she was never again going to be the same person yet despite that she wanted to protect what was left of her.

Without a doubt or a second thought Adderpaw would be willing to push an outsider towards the outskirts. If she found them interesting enough, or pathetic enough, she would want to talk to them and not have to spill blood. Mind you she was willing to claw the face off a cat acting up, just not kill them. Just because she was restricting herself from killing another cat did not mean she was going to go easy on her foes.

Adderpaw almost got herself lost in thinking but before that could happen Birdsnow spoke up once again. Her heart skipped a few beats and her lungs lost air when the fate words gathering apprentices slipped out her leader's lips. Then.... Then... She waited... She waited...

Anger. Resentment. Discountent.

All of these words or some mix of them filled Adderpaw when she did not hear her name be called out. She asked Birdsnow right in front of her while covered in blood to become a warrior but she was not called up. Was this some kind of mistake? A cruel joke? Adderpaw wanted to shout out at the top of her lungs. She wanted to make a scene. But..

To try and temper her anger Adderpaw started to groom herself roughly and quickly. She was never a cat to clean herself more than to get dirt off of herself so her fur was always wild looking. Anyone who knew her well would be able to pick that up from her that she wasn't feeling right. That at least something was up. Yet how many cats could Adderpaw count on her claws that were close to her? And she groomed herself even faster with that thought dancing across her mind.

Make a scene.. Hells. No, I couldn’t become one of those cats. A quick scowl came across Adderpaw’s face as she thought back to all the cats who decided to make a scene during the meetings many times. God, Adderpaw couldn’t even count how many times that had happened in this clan. She wasn’t going to ruin another cats special day as well. When she had become an apprentice she felt over the moon. Becoming a warrior was an even greater honor so Adderpaw couldn’t imagine how a cat would feel. Anger, jealousy.. She shook her head to get those negative emotions away from herself. Maybe her warrior announcement would be after everything else. She had to lie to herself to calm herself down.

“Treeheart!” She shouted out, enthusiasm hiding discontent.

“Mistyshard!” These were her clanmate..

“Springburst!” Her friends.

So why couldn’t she stop being jealous and just be happy for them?

Then the meeting moved onto kits. Adderpaw purred amusement when she saw the little fluffballs run up to the stone. She wondered how excited each of them were. No one could have ever been as excited as she, herself, was one her special day but maybe they were a sniff as close as excited.

Three new warriors were named, which was a delightful thing to hear. It had been so long since any apprentices managed to make the rank; it was almost like this was a sign, that RiverClan was beginning to move past its troubles into a new era. Stars, Fadingsun hoped it would last.

New apprentices were next. Quite a few kits were named, causing the black-and-orange warrior's ears to perk. Would one of these kits become his apprentice?

Of course, Slatestripe caught the hostility thrown his way by Dusklion. He flattened his ears against his head. He knew he deserved this sort of reaction, but that didn't make it any easier to deal with. Him and Dusklion had once held a good bond, but all of that had clearly been tarnished by his decision to leave RiverClan.

It felt like a hard lump had formed in his throat. One of these days, he'd stop disappointing the cats in his life who cared about him. He'd fallen again and again, and repeatedly failed those who he should never have come close to failing. All because he was blinded by anger and disappointment at a leader who didn't even end up staying in the position for much longer after he left. It wasn't worth it- any of it.

Birdsnow's next words were foggy; the small warrior was aware of cheering around him, but he wasn't entirely sure what for. All that he could focus on was his own overwhelming guilt and grief, and the despair he felt wondering if those left would ever forgive him for the choices he'd made.

The tom had been watching the meeting mostly in silence, sitting alone in the back. It's not like he had any friends except for Eaglekit and Eagle was busy with her other friends, because she was actually capable of socializing. Maybe he should try to be like her. Oh, wait - his apprentice ceremony was taking place? A grin settled on his maw and he bounded forward alongside with Eaglekit. At least they shared this moment!

"Finally," he purred to his best friend, attempting to gently rest his tail on her back.
