trigger warnings for this post: self-deprecating language
' oh stars, dusklion, thank you so much for this. ' cobwebpaw gushed, nearly hopping up and down (as best she could) from excitement. being mentor-less for so long had taken a toll on her mental and physical health, watching all the 'paws who were the same age as her be warriors- ugh.
she took mental note of dusklion slowing down for her and added her to their new best friends list, then thought carefully before replying. ' i'd love to do.. sedgewater valley perhaps? dunno.. any of the borders would be lovely! i'm just trying to get training in before i'm left in the dust any more than i already am. '
cobwebpaw's tone sombered and she scuffed at the ground with a paw. ' i know i'm already falling behind.. i want to be helpful in some way, even if it's not normal clan stuff. i just don't want to be a burden. '

"No cats a burden, 'long as they put in the work to elevate their Clan. From what I've seen, you've been doin' lots of that!" Swishing her tail over the apprentice's back and tossing her a friendly grin, Dusklion glanced forward once more to map out the best way to get to the WindClan border.
"Sedgewater Valley it is! That's the border we share with WindClan, 'n with Twilightstar's warning at the last gatherin', we'll stay a few tail-lengths behind it." Seemed like the smart idea - though, if they were still attacked by some overly aggressive WindClan cat that would give Birds more ammo to use against them... Flicking an ear the dark tabby rounded a nearby tree and started heading towards the border. "WindClan smells a lot like the heather they run around in. That 'n rabbit too - usually a lighter scent than most."
Eventually they reached the border, where the stream naturally divided the land and the trees thinned out to allow for expansive moorland to stretch out around them. Just like from the patrol she had completed there, there was still no scent of WindClan and their markers were faint... however the faint scent of fox had Dusklion's fur prickling. "That tangy scent you smell?" she mentioned to Cobwebpaw with a glance. "That's fox. Stale, which is why it's difficult to pick up. Likely gone already. But best to keep an eye out regardless. Unfortunately, WindClan's markers haven't been renewed in a bit, but you might still be able to pick up that heather-y scent."
She certainly hoped they wouldn't run into anything. Stopping just short of the border she let Cobwebpaw take her time in familiarizing herself with the scent, asking any questions... behind her, Dusk's tail swished in the air as she let the soft breeze billow past her whiskers.
[ @finley.exe - since dusk is on a border patrol at sedgewater, we'll have this border be done in the territory thread still - but when they move onto the next landmark/border from here i'll post in that thread! ]
He limped along the path. He was having trouble finding his way back.
Teardrop trotted beside him, casting questioning glances at the landmarks around them. He wished to discuss it with Darkwind, but his jaw throbbed from the attempts at talk. So in silence he went along with his companion, hoping to catch the scent of their camp or another clanmate soon enough.

Goldfish bit her lip and sighed, leaning over to
murmur in Cobwebpaw's ear, "You'll be fine, Cobwebpaw.
We'll be right back, just lay down." she urged, then cheerfully
nodded at Eaglekit. "Thank you for your help." she chirruped
politely, and then touched noses with Cobwebpaw once more. With a
quick nod to Minkpaw, she flanked the younger she-cat as they left the
den. Her pace was quick and uncomfortable, like ants were crawling
on her skin. "Now, What's been going on with you and Cobwebpaw
and everyone? There's something troubling the both of you, and I
want to assist you." she declared, then softened her voice and
slowed her gait to trest her tail on Minkpaw's spine.

staring at the ground two or so tail lengths in front of her she blindly led them out of camp, it wasnt much of a problem, she had practice after all. "i dont know, i dont know what i did wrong and why she's mad at me" the apprentice more or less whined, ears twitching in irritation. "i thought she would be glad i figured out what i want from life and all that, but it just upset her and i dont get why." she added, head hanging.
the contact was comforting and she momentarily didnt feel all that alone anymore. goldfish was truly too good to her.
(thought i'd move this here, hope ur alright w that :3)

They walked for a while before coming the a place were the grass was all turned up. Darkwind looked at in frustration. "This is were we started!" He growled angrily.
