A new medicine cat! Now that was something! Amberwing cheered her name with glee.

Eaglepaw watched in barely contained frustration as the clan continued to be absolute morons. StarClan forbid a leader of this stupid clan put their paw down and refuse to take crap from them. Oh no, now they were a dictator! Run for the hills! Ahhh!!
In better news, Fadingsun quick silenced everyone--to the best of his ability--and continued with the meeting. As the words "medicine cat" fell from his lips, all of Eaglepaw's earlier frustrations fell away. She looked up, heart stopping in her chest. There was no way her dream would come true. She was still so young, hadn't even completed any training yet. She had been there helping when the clan needed her most, but she had been so afraid of overwhelming Marigoldleap that she had stepped away and allowed the temporary medicine cat to work. Her name would not be the one called. Of course it wouldn't. So why... why did she feel hope?
Mistyshard. Eaglepaw blinked, taken aback by the decision. Mistyshard? Why, she had no idea the lionheart had any interest in herbs! Eaglepaw glanced at the one-eyed feline, noticing another cat murmuring to her. Cats were congratulating her, but couldn't they see someone was trying to talk to her? Eaglepaw glanced around the clearing, looking for Cobwebpaw--she was bound to be crushed--before looking back to Mistyshard. Huh. The cat was gone. Eaglepaw shook her head and cleared the cobwebs of the vision from her head. "Mistyshard! Whooo!" She cheered, not wanting to be too loud in case she hurt Birdsnow's ears. She would have to congratulate the lionheart in person later! Maybe ask her to give her some pointers on more herbs--she could never have too many in her arsenal!

Re: RiverClan Floodstone

MISTYSHARD
she/her | riverclan medicine cat | 37 moonsThe shecat gave a quick nod to Minkpaw and Kestrelskies carrying Rainpaw and Birdsnow away. That was good, she would have more time to focus on the meetings and any things she needed to pay more attention to as a lionheart. She really hoped Birdy would be okay; she didn't know if she could cope with losing the cat that had been her best friend all her life. They'd been through so much together... got kidnapped together, came back to life together, so many more adventures and traumatic experiences... "Please be okay," she whispered to herself with a small sigh. She had half a mind to run after her best buddy, comfort her, try to heal her, but it wasn't the time for that now. RiverClan would be her home no matter what happened and she was sure Fadingsun would be disappointed in her if she made irrational decisions. Everyone would be disappointed. [ @ alec - Minkpaw ] [ @ sol. - Kestrelskies ]
Sometimes, she just wanted to go back in time. Be small little Mistykit again who was being told a "scary" story by her future mentor, Stormtalon. Nowadays she realized that story wasn't even scary compared to all the obstacles she had faced in life. Then at the beginning at her apprenticeship, everything was so nice. Stormtalon was her mentor, she was making friends... until he died. And she became a shell of herself. Everyone started dying, anyone she started getting close to suddenly disappeared. The list of names went on and on and sometimes in the middle of the night, she could feel it haunting her. Weighing her shoulders down; a weight that would never be lifted. But that was over now. It made no sense to dwell on it. She wasn't Mistykit anymore, or Stormpaw, or Mistypaw. She was Misty shard, a RiverClan lionheart who was persevering through the challenges of her past life and doing her best to aid her clan...
Was that what everyone thought? Or did no one believe in her? The tabby was ripped out of her troubled thoughts when Fadingsun continued with the meeting. All the voices, all the drama, it was making her head pound. Couldn't they have a single meeting where no one fainted, where no one complained, and where Fadingsun could just tell them what he wanted to announce without any backlash? Luckily Fading seemed to be on a good path to achieve that. Redmire was being called out and removed from the meeting, escorted by Owltalon. Hopefully the newly named Lionheart would not take Redmire's temper to heart.
Mistyshard had not seen a lot of the tom yet, but as much as he seemed to be strong and determined, his way of expressing his thoughts was disrespectful to put it simply. Hating on everyone and pretending to do better wouldn't help; it would create more drama and trouble for Fadingsun. Next was something about the Lionhearts handling situations. She agreed with that; more voices often caused unecessary misunderstandings and more arguments. Then a little lecture for Dusklion, a lecture for Birdsnow...
As much as she loved her best friend, she could not say the words Fadingsun was speaking weren't true. While Fadingsun was injured her and Dusklion had been carrying the weight of the clan on their backs - where had Birdsnow been? She was supposed to be a strong leader figure. Of course her condition wasn't healthy, so Mistyshard was glad she was taking a step back and doing what's best for her. Nonetheless, she hoped Birdy would still be able to stay in RiverClan and put more effort in this time. If her last anchor left, she might just lose her mind. Of course she had new cats to rely on now but it wouldn't be the same. She would stay loyal to RiverClan no matter what, but there was stilla sliver of hope Birdy would never leave her side. Stay until we both grow old together, she silently begged her best friend. [ @ poppy - Birdsnow mention ]
Now Riverwhisper was also getting removed from camp. That was good, Fadingsun was handling everything well so far. Mistyshard felt like he'd finally be the leader who brought RiverClan back to strength. His approaches were good and he was stilling the chaos that usually happened without any bounds during meetings. It was so damn disrespectful; Misty would never be able to understand these cats. Was it so hard to just listen to the leader for a single meeting and cooperate with his ideas and plans? Rainpaw was also getting a lecture, he'd definitely be attented to... great, great, it was all going good. She would've been mad if Rainpaw just downright denied treatment just because "birdsnow needed it first". They both required it urgently.
A medicine cat was being announced as well, that was wonderful. It symbolized a new beginning for the clan and showed they would rise from their past mistakes. Wait... why was Fadingsun looking at her? She furrowed her brows and cocked her head. Surely just a quick glance and then he'd choose someone.
What.
Her.
No.
That couldn't be.
There were so many other candidates, so many cats to choose from... and yet it was her? She looked at Fadingsun with wide eyes. Before she could say anything she noticed a starry present next to her and glanced over. "Fawnlight?" she whispered and returned the nuzzle. Had it been her sister that made this choice? If Fawnlight thought she could do this... surely she could, right? She trusted this molly with her life so surely it was the right decision after all. "Thank you... I love you," Mistyshard mewed, her one amber eye still open wide. "I promise I'll do my best, I will look after them." Forcing herself to swallow the shock down, she smiled brightly at her sister. Then the starry ancestor was gone. Hopefully I will see her again soon. [ @ taillow - Fawnlight ]
Before thanking anyone who congratulated her, she turned her attention to Fadingsun and let her voice be loud enough for everyone to hear. "I am honored to take on this position. I will do my best to serve RiverClan well. If anyone has questions or concerns they are free to approach me directly." She let her amber gaze sweep around the crowd, not wanting there to be any difficulties or doubts due to misunderstandings. She would be able to deal with all the doubts externally, but surely it would take a mental toll on her. However, she promised herself to not let them make her doubt herself. She was stronger than that; she had been through worse.
Then came all the congratulations, chanting her name... Mistyshard turned to Adderpaw and offered the apprentice a gentle smile. She was glad to have Adder's support; she was a valuable clanmate who had done a lot for RiverClan. "Thank you, I do hope I will," she purred. That meant there were cats standing behind her, clanmates that would have her back... Maybe she should stop overthinking everything. She wouldn't show on the outside, but there was a whirlwind of thoughts going through her mind every time something happened. Yet she always managed to cope, even with many obstacles on her path, and she'd continue to do that now that she was her clan's medicine cat. Don't let anyone drag you down, she reminded herself. [ @ Fish - Adderpaw ]
Owltalon was congratulating her as well. The reassurance of the Lionheart also made her feel more full. Her doubts were already starting to fade away more as cats came to her to say “congrats” or “you’ll do great”. “Thank you,” she mewed to Owltalon, voice warm and full. She let her eye linger on the newly named Lionheart for a few moments more as she departed to the territory with Redmire. [ @ Marigoldwhisper - Owltalon ]
Next was Cobwebpaw… and the decision of Mistyshard becoming a medicine cat really seemed to be taking a toll on the apprentice. She let out a soft sigh and was about to tell Cob to keep her head up and keep going no matter what, but the molly was already gone. “I’m sorry,” she murmured mostly to herself. It was very quiet so probably the only cat able to hear it was Cobwebpaw in case she managed to catch it before she ran. She would stay in her position and not let such things bring her down, but yet she had empathy for Cobwebpaw and Minkpaw. They’d worked hard; they could have done well in the position too. Maybe it just came down to a bit of luck in the end? She didn’t know what had made the new leader and Birdsnow settle on the final decision but surely there was something. [ @ sillycreatur - Cobwebpaw ]
Blizzardpaw was also congratulating her, wishing her the best… Misty smiled at the apprentice and gave her a thankful nod. She did a similar gesture to Spottedstream, dipping her head in gratitude. It felt kind of weird; everyone kept doubting RiverClan’s leader, everyone was most likely doubting her… and yet they were suddenly supportive at this moment. Not that she was not grateful – some cats surely meant it – but she felt like the doubts would start coming soon. [ @ Spookez. - Blizzardpaw ] [ @ Breaking Dawn - Spottedstream ]
Then came Lilacpaw's very loud outburst. Well, not really an outburst, just supportive cheering. The medicine cat let out a chuckle and padded over to her.. apprentice? Her former apprentice? That she wouldn't mentor her three apprentices anymore was most likely true, but she'd still make effort to train them and interact with them. "...Thank you. I do believe I won't be mentoring you anymore, however if you ever want training or need to catch, feel free to come to me." She gave Lilac an enthusiastic bob of her head in an attempt to somehow match the young cat's excitement, then turned to the next cat. [ @ Breaking Dawn - Lilacpaw ]
Goldfish's frustrated expressions didn't just fly by Misty. She looked at the shecat with quirked eyebrows, confused when suddenly a "congratulations" came. Ah, and a talk after the meeting. She felt like there'd be some trouble with this discussion. "...Sure," she muttered cautiously. "Just stop by my den." Since it was "partially medical" it couldn't be too bad right? Her mind churned with all the possibilities, but then she forced herself to direct her attention to another one of her clanmates. It would do her no good to dwell on Goldfish's request until she actually knew what it was. [ @ blxze. - feel free to mention me in the med den whenever ]
Thunderchaser was snapping at Cobwebpaw and Minkpaw now... Mistyshard let out a grunt, eyeing the warrior and making her way over. "...While I do understand why you may be feeling this way about the situation, they're surely just frustrated and need some time for themselves... I think they just need to calm down and snapping at them won't help with that. It'll just make 'em more riled up. They have done a lot, even if not with the right approach." She nodded curtly at the warrior, keeping her voice in a respectful manner. If Fadingsun wanted to lecture he could, but she did not want to test her boundaries just yet. [ @ Astraea - Thunderchaser ]
With that done she took a small step back from all the cats and let reality sink in. So many cats congratulating her, so many cats believing in her... there would be so much to do. As soon as she was done dealing with Rainpaw, Birdsnow and Goldfish she'd organize the herbs and then hopefully find someone to teach her things... maybe it would be good to have a conversation with Cobwebpaw and Minkpaw as well. Oh, and Fadingsun. She wanted to discuss some things with the leader considering they'd be working closely together now and it was partly her job to make sure everything ran smoothly. It had already been like that when she was a lionheart, but medicine cat would mean even more responsibility.

Re: RiverClan Floodstone
The only time Stagheart added his two cents to the meeting was cheering the names of the new Lionhearts and medicine cat along with the rest of the supporting part of the Clan. A twinge of doubt hit him when Mistyshard was announced — she was a formidable and capable warrior. To lose one of their strong warriors felt wrong, in a way... but clearly, Fadingsun knew what he was doing, right? And if Mistyshard accepted it, she knew she could, too. He had to trust that.
His main concern was for Berrypaw. He glanced down at the apprentice, watching her face as she processed the information.
Berrypaw's eyes widened in shock as Fadingsun said Mistyshard's name. Sure, she remembered her mentor was good with herbs from that patrol, but... to be the medicine cat? She turned to Mistyshard and started to step towards her, but the smaller she-cat was immediately blocked by the waves of cats coming up to congratulate her mentor. Well... former mentor?
Berrypaw stopped where she was and let the torrent of cats approach instead, knowing she wouldn't be able to do much to push through anyway. Mistyshard had accepted the role — it was set in stone. A burst of sadness rocketed through her... she'd finally begun to feel safe enough to open up to this mentor, and now she was gone? Would she be reassigned right away, or would Misty complete some of her training?
She faintly heard Lilacpaw's words... but couldn't hear Mistyshard's response. The mentor had two other apprentices, too — so Berrypaw certainly wouldn't be the only one confused.
I could try to ask her later...
Berrypaw slunk back over to Stagheart, her head angled down and sadness ebbing through her. She supported the leader's decision as well as her former mentor's, but losing Misty felt like a hard blow.
Stagheart knew what she was feeling and touched his tail to her shoulder. She leaned into his side for comfort and watched quietly as the meeting continued.
/ @ starry — [ i wrote it so that berry was kinda blocked by everyone else, so misty likely wouldn't see her, but feel free to have her take notice if you want especially after everyone settles again <3 ]

┊WoodpeckerSpeckle
╰⸻♡ she/her ⸻⸻╮
WoodpeckerSpeckle was a bit upset to hear that BirdSnow was stepping down as the leader of RiverClan. She had always admired the former leader's grace and wisdom, and it was hard to imagine the clan without her at the helm. However, she trusted that Fadingsun would do his best to lead the clan forward, and she was willing to support him in any way she could. As she continued to listen to Fadingsun speak, WoodpeckerSpeckle's thoughts turned to BirdSnow. She would miss the former leader, of course, but she couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment. While BirdSnow had been a kind and wise leader, she had not done much for the clan in recent moons. WoodpeckerSpeckle knew that it was time for a change, and she was eager to see what Fadingsun would bring to the clan. When Fadingsun announced the new Lionhearts, WoodpeckerSpeckle couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and excitement. She knew that these cats were some of the strongest and most capable members of the clan, and she had no doubt that they would do a great job in their new roles. She made a mental note to congratulate them later and offer her assistance if they needed it. As the meeting continued, WoodpeckerSpeckle's mind was in a jumbled mess. She tried to focus on what was being said, but her thoughts kept drifting back to BirdSnow and all that the clan was losing. She barely registered when Fadingsun announced the new Lionhearts, her mind too preoccupied with everything else that was happening. But then something caught her attention. Fadingsun was talking about the medicine cat. WoodpeckerSpeckle's ears perked up as she listened intently, eager to hear who would be taking over the important role. When Fadingsun announced that Mistyshard would be the new medicine cat, WoodpeckerSpeckle couldn't believe it. Mistyshard had always been a bit of an enigma to WoodpeckerSpeckle. She was quiet and reserved and had always seemed content to keep to herself. WoodpeckerSpeckle had never really known much about her, but she had always admired her for her dedication to the clan and her skills. But now, as she listened to Fadingsun speak about her new role as the medicine cat, WoodpeckerSpeckle realized just how much she had underestimated Mistyshard. She was in awe of her bravery and willingness to step up and take on such an important role, especially in the wake of everything that had happened with BirdSnow.

┊VenomWink
╰⸻♡ she/her⸻⸻╮
VenomWink stood at the back of the gathering, her cold gaze fixed on Fadingsun as he addressed the clan. She didn't care much for RiverClan or its members; she was only here because she had nowhere else to go. She had been a kittypet all her life, living in luxury with her wealthy owners. However, when her owners moved away and left her behind, she was forced to fend for herself on the streets. It was there that she learned how to be independent and how to survive in the harsh world of feral cats. When VenomWink stumbled upon RiverClan territory, she was taken in by the clan as a kit. She quickly adapted to life in the clan and worked tirelessly to become a warrior. However, she never felt like she truly belonged in the clan. She found the other cats too trusting and naive, and she couldn't help but feel like an outsider. To her, the clan was just another place to survive in the chaos of the world. As Fadingsun spoke of his plans for the clan, VenomWink couldn't help but snicker to herself. She knew that he was in for a rude awakening if he thought he could control the chaos of RiverClan. She had seen it all before; leaders would come and go, but the chaos of the clan would always remain. To her, the only way to survive in RiverClan was to embrace the chaos and do whatever it took to come out on top. When Rainpaw suddenly bolted out of camp, VenomWink watched with a cold detachment. She didn't care if the apprentice was hurt or not; it wasn't her problem. As Mistyshard and Cobwebpaw inspected the apprentice, VenomWink turned her attention back to Fadingsun. She wondered how long he would last as leader of RiverClan before he was overthrown by the chaos of the clan. As Fadingsun continued to speak, VenomWink's eyes narrowed in disgust. She didn't like the way he was trying to control the clan, and she didn't like the way he was talking about respect. To her, respect was earned, not given freely. She couldn't help but roll her eyes as he spoke of banning cats from meetings; it was just another weak attempt to control the chaos of RiverClan. When Fadingsun looked towards her, VenomWink met his gaze with a cold stare. She didn't care what he had to say; she didn't care about his plans for the clan. All she cared about was surviving in the chaos of RiverClan, and she would do whatever it took to make sure she came out on top. In her mind, she was already planning her next move. She knew that the only way to survive in RiverClan was to be ruthless and cunning. She would do whatever it took to gain power and influence in the clan, even if it meant betraying her fellow cats. She had no loyalty to anyone but herself, and she would use that to her advantage.

Re: RiverClan Floodstone
Dusklion - RiverClan Head Lionheart
She/her | 27 moons | Go with the Flow, Beefed Up T3, Rapid Recovery, Shadow Fiend Oh for the love of stars. More cats started whining and complaining about this and that, and Dusklion was doing her best to not snap at them. Even with their current frosty state, she held a lot more respect for her brother than she'd ever held with Birdsnow (or any other cat, for that matter, even Lions and Fury and Bitey) so she would listen and just... hold her tongue.
When Fades started up again, he made quick work of handling every cat who had spoken out of turn; including her. She simply returned his warning glance with a huff and averting her own eyes. Yeah, yeah. What joy her brother must feel now in being able to actually order her around more than before. Dusklion flattened her ears but didn't say anything more. She'd have to check in with him it seemed like - what interruptions she could and couldn't handle, because at this point she wasn't sure if it was just the Birdsnow thing or how she'd dealt with both Redmire and Owltalon. Sue her for trying to help.
The next string of announcements weren't anything to respond to - except for well, Dusk's utter shock at this side of her brother. She hadn't known it at all, like he had kept it concealed. She had never once pictured him the leader type - or, he had never told her. Either way it frustrated her, and reminded her briefly of the betrayal she'd felt during the last meeting. They had yet to talk about it, and now he was leader.
What did catch her ear was Mists being announced as the Clan's medicine cat. All the cats who came up to congratulate her made Dusklion want to laugh, but she would keep her rather harsh opinions on that matter to herself. What she did notice is the way Cobs slunk off, and Minkpaw darted from camp out of the corner of her eye. Seriously? Dusklion flashed a look to her brother, one brow raised, as if to say 'this alright?' before glancing over the crowd.
"Fallenwish, go fetch Minkpaw. Don't know what kind of fit she's throwin', but 'paws aren't allowed outside of camp." She'd go after the apprentice herself, but right now she was the only Lionheart left in camp. She was then about to settle back when when another cat speaking caught her attention. Could she say anything? This cat hadn't been seen in camp for the last half moon, and now she was just here? At a meeting? Casting her gaze from Thunderchaser, Dusklion lifted it towards her brother and gave a subtle nod. He surely would see this, right?
