Primroseadder moved within the shadows effortlessly, her green gaze fixed intently on a dove. She crouched, her eyes narrowing, before darting out of the undergrowth.
[Primroseadder rolled a 16 on a D20.]
[ 16 + 1 (Ultimate Predator) = 17. Success!]
Before the dove could cry out in alarm, the warrior had already landed square upon it, her forepaws pinning its wings to the ground as she bent her head and sank her teeth into her quarry's neck.
Songwave silently followed through the darkness, going still when Primroseadder darted off through the undergrowth. He almost wondered if she had caught anything, considering there was no sound. But his doubts soon disappeared when the smell of the fresh dove wafted up into the air.
"Nice catch." He whispered through a warm smile, before lifting up his head up to hunt also. (Rolled a 17) The smell of a water vole caught his attention, so he dropped down and started stalking towards it. His white paws felt the wet ice covering the smooth rock beneath him (20), but he took his time, keeping his claws out to remain steady as the nibbling vole came into view.
(19) Once he got close enough, having found a piece of rock covered in moss rather than ice, he pounced. Chunked up moss flew into the air behind him and he landed squarely on the vole, biting its neck before the moss pieces landed back on the ground. He thanked Starclan for the prey immediately afterward.
[ +1 Water Vole]
( This is the highest I've ever rolled in one go, I gotta do this more often lol @korok - Riftpaw , @kira - Primroseadder, @Seamrog - Duskleaf )

Duskleaf nodded as Primroseadder and Songwave walked off, turning to Riftpaw as he spoke. "Right then, mon o’er this way." He flicked his tail to the side. "Looks like it’s a good place for mice to hide, I’ll teach ye a bit about catchin’ them." He walked towards an area with more bushes, beckoning with his tail for Riftpaw to follow.
"Right, so one thing ye have to remember about mice is that they can feel the vibrations in the ground when ye approach, so ye have to make sure ye’r walkin’ light as ye can." He explained. "So what ye want to do is put all yer weight on yer haunches." He demonstrated, putting all of his weight on his haunches in a hunting crouch. "This’ll make yer pawsteps lighter an’ not as noticeable for the mouse."
What was that sound? Duskleaf noticed the faintest rustling in the bushes, and before long his emerald gaze locked onto a tiny bit of brown fur moving next to one of the bushes. "In fact, I’ll let ye see what I mean…" He whispered to Riftpaw, slowly and silently moving forward towards the mouse. Suddenly he hurled towards it, claws extended, ready to-WHO IN THE STARS PUT THAT ICE THERE?!! "Ah!" He let out a surprised shriek, flying through the air before colliding with a bush. Well, doing that in front of his apprentice on a patrol was…embarrassing to say the least. Duskleaf pulled himself up, a bit dizzy after the collision but that would sort itself out. He stumbled forwards, momentarily seeing Riftpaw in two places at once before shaking his head. "Y-yeah…not like that…"

Riftpaw listened intently as his mentor spoke. This was nicer. He liked it when it was just the two of them- and Beaverpaw, of course. Now even Duskleaf was busy mooning over a crazy she-cat. He'd never understand. But here? Out on patrol? It was just mentor and apprentice having fun.
When Duskleaf went to go show him how to hunt a mouse, the tom watched the Lionheart unceremoniously slip on a patch of ice. His whiskers twitched slightly- the closest the apprentice has ever got to a laugh. "Let me try." He mewed, dropping into the hunter's crouch Duskleaf had demonstrated.
[ RIFTPAW ROLLED A 15]
For some reason, that mouse was quite stupid and returned to look for food despite Duskleaf's blunder. It must have thought him not a threat. Stalking forward, Riftpaw pounced, swiftly ending the mouse's life. Carrying it in his jaws with tail held high, he looked at Duskleaf hopefully. His first catch! Would his mentor be proud?

Primroseadder's ears twitched, catching her stepfather's whispered, Nice catch, as she buried the dove to collect later. She looked up, her emerald eyes bright, before diving into the river and disappearing beneath the surface. The RiverClanner's movements were strong as she swam, and the warrior later resurfaced with two plump, shiny salmon clamped tight between her jaws.
[ + 2 Salmon ]
Hauling herself out of the river and onto the bank, Primroseadder shook out her pelt, retrieved her dove, and nodded to Songwave---a sign that she was heading back to the place that they had left Duskleaf and Riftpaw.
[riftpaw and songwave need to catch at least one more piece of prey, while duskleaf needs to catch at least two, going by what primroseadder stated before they split up o7 --- this means that i need at least one more post from each of you, then i'll post in the patrols thread with prim reporting in ^^]
(Rolling a 4 sided dice to see how many more pieces of prey he catches = 2 )
Songwave buried the water vole and returned to the water's edge, not yet choosing to hunt but rather to make sure Primroseadder was safe in the water. He trusted his step-daughters abilities but he knew, that no matter how prepared, the unexpected could always happen, and so it never hurt to have some backup.
The warrior felt relieved when she resurfaced, and squinted his eyes when she shook off her pelt. He might've been standing a bit close. Songwave then blinked the water out of his eyes and nodded back to her, waving his tail in goodbye as she left to regroup.
The blue-grey warrior padded further up the bank and crouched down at the edge, still not yet confident of his swimming abilities. (19) He waited patiently back from the water, being sure not to cast a shadow as the form of some fish swum by. He waited until they were grouped together, then splashed a quick claw into the water. A brown trout! A lively one too. He pulled it onto the sand beside him and bit down hard, thanking Starclan for this catch, then returned to a crouch. He could try for one more, while he still had the time!
His tail wagged from side to side as he watched the shapes reform. It was harder to tell what was here this time, but he knew he could still get one. (11) Songwave saw something large and took his chance, darting a paw into the water. He grabbed hold, but it wasn't easy with this one, and ended up flinging it onto the sand. An eel! It was a smaller one, but it still writhed around on the sand, ferociously trying to re-enter the water. He jumped around, avoiding its snapping head before finding its neck and putting an end to it struggle. He thanked Starclan that he was able to catch it, and for its life.
He picked up both pieces of prey and retrieved the vole before returning to their original meeting spot, only stopping a few times to pick up the slippery eel.

Ah, yes, an early morning start. Spiderpaw had made her way out of camp to check things out a bit. She was curious, and when she left before she had been overwhelmed by the sensory overload of the territory. Now, she was determined to better understand the many things that her sensitive nose picked up on. She wanted to know everything!
Now, the newly appointed apprentice was anything but stealthy. Every twig and leaf and crunchable piece of ice was noisely stepped on as she padded through, following her nose and stopping at every new plant, track, sound, or smell she encountered.
Now, that was a scent she knew! Rabbit!
Spiderpaw crouched and stalked through the undergrowth... or, tried to stalk through the undergrowth. She followed the scent, but no matter how far she tracked it, she never caught sight of the prey she wanted to bring back to camp. Eventually, she stopped and sat. The scent was getting fainter and fainter as she went... did she... did she follow the scent the wrong way? Oh, how embarrassing! At least no one was around to realize it.
Fogmask was looking around the territory. The snow was finally melting, and the birds were chirping. Suddenly, he smelled another Riverclan cat and decided to chat. However, when he got over to them, he noticed they were the apprentice Spiderpaw.
"What are you doing out here?" He looked around for the apprentice's mentor, but he couldn't find them. "Where's your mentor?"
''Stop interrogatin' 'er, Fogmask. She's with me.''
Primroseadder emerged from the shadows to stand beside Spiderpaw, her emerald eyes narrowed. The she-cat's ears twitched. No, Spiderpaw hadn't really been with her, but Primroseadder had made the same mistake before. She'd gotten confined to camp for it, too. But Spiderpaw was a new apprentice, so why not protect her by lying a little?
''Spiderpaw must have gotten lost while followin' me. I brought her out ta hunt,'' the warrior pointed out, giving a whisk of her tail. ''I came back ta look for 'er, 'n that's when ya showed up.''
Spiderpaw jumped at the sound of another cat. The tom was looking around for someone, and the young apprentice realized who at his question. She shifted her weight on her feet. She hadn't thought this whole thing through. Was she actually supposed to be with her mentor at all times?
But before she could say anything, Primroseadder appeared and spoke up. Spiderpaw tried to hide her face of shock and the tip of her tail twitched nervously. She didn't know why Primroseadder was lying for her, but she appreciated it.
"I started following a rabbit's scent, but I went the wrong way..." Spiderpaw knew she was a bad liar, so, as much as she hated admitting her mistake allowed, she decided to stick to the truth as much as possible.
