Fogmask's eyes narrowed with suspicion. Looking at Spiderpaw she was nervous, cautious, and intentional with how she spoke. He figured they were probably lying.
"Don't worry." He comforted the pair. "Unlike some other warriors, I'm not quick to tell on apprentices for doing something wrong." He looked down at Spiderpaw as he spoke. "I can't say I believe Primroseadder, but I can't say for certain that she is lying either." He looked up to Primroseadder. "And you know that I won't scold her past a gentle warning, so there's no need to be so protective, even if you're with her. I was worried for her safety, nothing more." He was frustrated that Primroseadder felt the need to be so protective, especially against him, but he didn't want to dwell on that anymore.
"Anyway, what are you planning on doing?" He wanted the conversation to change to a more relaxed note. "Do you mind if I join you? I would enjoy the company!"
Primroseadder's tail swayed behind her as she emerged from the shadows to stand where she and Songwave had left Riftpaw and Duskleaf. Riftpaw held a mouse, she saw, while Duskleaf...he didn't seem to have any luck. If anything, he was a pile of gray fur and leaves on the ground.
''No luck?'' Primroseadder called out to the Lionheart, emerald eyes glimmering and her whiskers twitching with amusement. Meanwhile, she had set down her dove and two salmon, giving Riftpaw a nod. ''Nice catch, Riftpaw. Sunheart will be pleased.''
The patrol leader's tail whisked behind her. ''Let's head back ta camp. 'm sure that Sunheart'll appreciate the huge haul we're bringin' back.''
[i'll post with prim reporting in now. remember to link your catches whenever you post back in the patrols thread, even if i do in mine o7]
[takes place in a different timeline than the post above o7]
Primroseadder's eyes narrowed at Fogmask's comments, her ears flicking. She'd ignore them---for now. She tried to hide her annoyance with the other warrior. Hadn't she just said that they were hunting?
''Huntin','' she meowed. ''Ya can join us, if ya want ta. Spiderpaw, try 'n pick up that rabbit's scent again. If ya can, tell me which way ya think it went.''
The blue-grey tabby felt her face grow a bit warm as Fogmask and Primrose spoke. It felt a bit tense between them for a moment as the apprentice glanced between the pair. She kept her mouth shut for most of it, not wanting to give away Primroseadder's lie. Then attention was brought back to her.
Spiderpaw glanced between the two warriors before nodding. "Okay." She mewed and began sniffing around again. The forest was alight once more with all of its smells. She knew she had followed it before, so surely, she should be able to find the scent again!
It took her a moment to sort all of the different aromas, especially with the stronger scent of the other two shadowclanners, but she did manage to find it again. It was so much fainter than when she had started following it, but it was there.
Checking, double checking, triple checking... yes, she had definitely followed the scent the wrong way. She looked up at Primroseadder and Fogmask. "It's that way, I think. I did follow the trail the wrong way when I started tracking it." She informed them, her voice quiet as she flicked her tail in the right direction.
Fogmask nodded at the apprentice. "Very good. I did that more times than I'd like to admit." He purred as he thought back to when he was an apprentice.
After their brief re-group Songwave trotted back to camp. lagging behind Primroseadder. He planned to commend Riftpaw's catch later, but struggled to say anything without the eel slipping out of his mouth. Hopefully it wouldn't collect too much dirt on the way back to camp, if Songwave could help it.
The dizziness finally wearing off, Duskleaf watched as Riftpaw did a much better job of catching the mouse. His eyes lit up, clearly impressed. "Very nicely done!" Then Primroseadder said they were heading back? Wasn’t it a bit early? Although Duskleaf didn’t want to enter camp with nothing, he also wasn’t about to argue. He decided to stay just a little bit longer and hopefully catch something without making a fool of himself again.
Spotting a water vole scuttling across the ground, Duskleaf once again dropped into a hunting crouch, though was careful not to land on ice this time as he pounced.

Successfully catching the vole, Duskleaf quickly killed it with a bite to the throat before heading back with the rest of the patrol.

Seapaw
he/they - 10 moons - Go with the flow
Seapaw listened intently to the talk about ice, nodding in understanding. They never thought there'd be so much to a seemingly small thing - shows how little he knows! He tried to remember it all, but made sure to commit the fact that ice could be dangerous to memory.
Thankfully they wouldn't have to be dealing with that today - as the rivers were beginning to flow again. So - number 1, no shadow. They shuffled to find a place next to Wormbite where their shadow didn't show, then listened for more. 2, listen and look - cool, he could do that. And 3: cup the fish onto shore.
He watched carefully, as a shadow below the surface was expertly caught by Wormbite. Alright - got it. Hopefully, at least, because now it was his turn. He waited till a bubbling shadow appeared once again, and dove his paw into the water. [Rolled: 9] He felt it for a second - but - oh! His paw came out of the water with no fish. Those things were fast! Perhaps they weren't cupping their paw enough? "Awh." This seemed a lot harder than land hunting - but perhaps it came with practice. "I can try again?" He asked.
