---------------------------- Creekflow was genuinely surprised at Ravenshade's reply. He could see the tenseness and hesitance coming from her but she didn't reject his offer. He wondered why that was but he wasn't about to lose his chance to make a new friend. He could think about all of this later. He had a hunch that she was a bit afraid of him betraying her down the line. Honestly, he was a bit scared of doing that himself... No! He was determined to not let her down! She deserved to have someone watch her back. He was willing and ready to be that cat.
"Thank you, Ravenshade. I greatly appreciate you putting your trust in me. I will do everything I can to not lose it. I understand how important trust is and betraying somebody is something I wouldn't even dream of doing." he replied with a sincere tone of voice. His blue-green eyes glowed with warmth and honesty. He was a very loyal friend if given the chance. Ravenshade's acceptance meant so much and there was no way he would let himself butcher this newly-formed relationship.
A moment or two of silence passed before he began to speak again, "I... I was wondering if you could tell me what's the story behind what happened to your face? You don't have to tell me anything at all of course! I-I was just a bit curious. If that's a touchy subject, I deeply apologize for asking. I won't ask those types of questions again unless you feel alright to reply." He felt a bit bad for asking but he was as curious about it as he had been with her other scars. Oh StarClan, hopefully she wouldn't be angry with him.

Most people would excpet her to turn to rage, and instantly start screaming at them, threatening to rip out their throat.
This reaction was much, much worse.
Her yellow eyes widened, and filled with tears. Then she turned away. Ravenshade fluffed out her fur as protection, as if she were a kit.
"It was my fault, you know. If I had just stayed in camp with Brazenpaw and Starpaw...."

---------------------------- The mottled tom's eyes widened in alarm at her reaction. His heart lurched at the scene unfolding before him. She was breaking down because of him and it caused him to mentally slap himself. He needed to make this right. He knew he shouldn't of asked that! Why couldn't he just keep things to himself? He was cursed with a big mouth and a traitorous curiosity. There was no going back from this, he soon realized. He'd just have to comfort her through this. It was the least he could do for bringing on terrible memories.
With a confidence not seen before, he got up from his spot and strode over to where she was. He settled down beside her at an angle to her form. He reached over and used a paw to gently bring her face back toward him, they were now looking at each other, face to face. His warm, worried eyes searched her teary ones. "Ravenshade... What happened? Why do you say it was your fault?" he asked calmly yet firmly with a soft voice. He wasn't going to allow her to hide. It seemed like she'd been holding this in for who knows how long and she really needed to let it out. He wasn't going to het her continue suffering on her lonesome. She accepted his offer to become friends. He was ready to fulfill his duties to her.

Ravenshade fell into his side, curling her legs beneath her. She pulled her face away and stared at the ground, where tears fell.
"W-when I first became....an apprentice...I persuaded my brother and sister to leave camp with me..."
Her tone was hushed, full of fear and hatred for herself.
"I had seen a twoleg camp the day before on my first patrol. We went.
The twolegs blew up my brother with some sort of thunderstick....they stomped poor Starpaw to death....I was thrown into their fire and got caught in some sort of Claw Vine..."
Her voice dropped lower yet.
"My mother and father came, Charcoalheart and Dapplebright...the twolegs used the thunderstick on them too. I don't know how I got out..."
She dropped her head onto her paws and sobbed silently..

---------------------------- Creekflow allowed her look away. He quickly rearranged himself so he was pressed firmly against her, long tail wrapping around her back in a soothing way. He was trying to ground her and let her know that he wasn't going to leave anytime soon. No way. She needed him more than anything right now. He refrained from speaking anymore until she was finished. He needed to hear everything, not one detail must be lost.
As she told of her past, traumatic experience, the young warrior's shaggy fur slowly began to rise and prickle with horror, among other emotions. Twolegs. Of course it was Twolegs. Most of them were merciless and hateful. They were feared by the clans. He'd never seen one but has heard countless of tales of the scary, rather powerful creatures that traverse the land on two legs causing chaos wherever they went. He ached knowing that they were the cause of Ravenshade's suffering. She lost her whole family to them. All of a sudden, he grew a fear of thundersticks, despite never having seen one.
"Oh Ravenshade. Please don't blame or hate yourself for what happened. You were young and curious of a new place. Your family would never have wanted you to live with this guilt. The Twolegs are all to blame for it. They were cruel and unforgiving. They maim and kill for their own twisted gain and so many of us pay the price. Don't let yourself take the blame. You're so strong for having the will to keep moving forward despite how unfair life can be. I'm here for you. I won't allow you to suffer alone any longer. You deserve the happiness you once had. I'll try my best to make it happen." the tom said with a very audible shake in his voice. He pressed even closer to her, his warmth being shared between them. He lifted a paw and softly rubbed the side of her face in comfort and reassurance. He was hurting for her. He wished he could take the pain away. She didn't deserve it.

"I knew that when I took my family there..I knew they killed. It was my own thoughtless endeavour." She wouldn't be letting go of the grief and guilt, not for some time. Not after believing for twelve seasons that it was her fault.
She quieted down, comforted by the feeling of someone by her side, no matter how new it was. Ravenshade had always been an outcast, and now, having a friend, the world seemed a little lighter. "Thank you, Creekflow."

---------------------------- He wasn't going to be discouraged by her words. He's just going to have to work a little harder to sway her thoughts. He was willing to do what he must to help her. They just have to take kitten steps. A little at a time. They'll cross the paths when they have to. For now, each other's companionship will do both of them good.
"I'll help you see and think things a bit differently but for now, we can just take this slow. We can't rush a recovery." he replied with a gentle purr, determination evident in his tone. He placed his paw on top of hers and smiled, a hint of sadness in his expression. They fell into silence soon after, although, it wasn't going to last long.
Warmth spread throughout his body when she thanked him. It always felt good to be thanked like that. It reassured him that he'd done a pretty decent job. "No problem, Ravenshade. It's what a friend does. I hope you won't mind me searching for ya and giving you some company once in a while. I really enjoy spending some time with you." he said with, lightness in his words. As always, he meant every word. This was his heart speaking, not his mind. The difference between them was clear yet both important for their respective situations.

Ravenshade shot him a teaful smile, then closed her eyes and let her body, and mind, relax, for the first time in seasons.
(AAAND that's a wrap everybody!)

[ @ kittygirl; His former name was Fogkit/paw, but I don’t think they ever interacted, but he does remember when she left ]
Cottonstrike felt the vibrations of paws and looked up to see Cherryflight. He recognized her a little bit as they were kits at the same time. She was the one that had left when she had gotten sick. He had wondered once why she had to leave. Cottonstrike read her lips and dipped his head. ”Hello your Cherryflight right?”, he asked.

"Let's go the apprentice den!" Thistlekit mewed, sprinting over. "I wanna learn some cool hunting and fighting moves!"

@ Spoopy Eclipse
Larkstripe swiveled his head, twitching an angular ear in the direction of the plucky kit. The sleek Half-Clan warrior rose from where he was seated by the reed barrier and tilted his head in Thistlekit's direction, his sea-green eyes rounded and unreadable. Despite his generally reserved disposition, the ginger tom couldn't hide his subtle amusement.
"Fighting moves, you say?" the mysterious warrior mused, "And who exactly are you preparing to wage war with?" he joked lightly.
