Spiderpaw padded into the elder's den with a maw full of fresh moss. She had been bored and, lacking any supervision or instructions, figured she would help out around camp, starting with the elder's den.

Putting the moss down, she wondered if anyone even needed fresh bedding. How dumb would she look if she had decided to come here just to find out the elder's were already taken care of. Tail tip twitched back and forth as she looked around. "Does... anyone need any bedding...?" She asked, almost too quietly to hear.

Yewshade looked up from xyr nap, seeing an apprentice at the den entrance. Their question was so quiet xe almost missed it. "I would appreciate some bedding, thank you." xe said. "The last apprentice brought it in a bit damp. And if you could possibly find some feathers..."

Spiderpaw looked around for a while, but no one seemed interested in speaking up. For a moment, she thought that she had messed up. The elders were probably already taken care of. Perhaps she would take the moss to the nursery? The blue-grey tabby started to turn around when she heard a voice. Her eyes snapped to the speaker, who looked as though xe had just woken from a nap.

The tabby padded over and put the moss down to start working on Yewshade's nest. "Sure... I can find some feathers... but I'll replace the old bedding, first... okay?" Hopefully that was okay. It seemed like everyone liked to build their nests differently. Spiderpaw always like setting up the base of her nest, first, before adding more.

"Yes, that would be fine. Thank you." xe said. The apprentice was nice, although a bit shy. Normally apprentices hated helping the elders. "I can tell you a story after you finish, if you'd like. You deserve a reward for your hard work. Oh, and by the way, what pronouns should I use for you? I want to make sure I'm not misgendering you."

Oh, thankfully xe wasn't a cranky, mean elder. Yewshade actually seemed pretty nice to the apprentice. So, Spiderpaw got to work, scraping away the old, soiled bedding and replacing it with the new moss that she double checked to make sure it was nice and dry, fluffing it up as she went.

A story? Spiderpaw did like the sound of that. She smiled at the elder. "I would like that..." She mewed, relaxing a bit from her nervousness about interacting with a new cat. "Oh, and... She, her, hers... Those are fine... and you?" The young tabby felt a bit rude, having not even thought about asking the elder about xyr pronouns.

"Hmm? Oh, I use xe/xem/xyr pronouns, thank you. This bedding is rather soft, I appreciate that. As for the story..." xe replied. "Have you heard of SkyClan's move to RiverClan yet? I don't know how old you are, it's possible you could have been there for it."

Xe stretched out on xyr new bedding, enjoying the fluffiness of the moss.

Spiderpaw's ears perked at the elder's question. Skyclan's move to riverclan? She tried to remember anything about it. Perhaps vague mentions at the most. "No, I just know it happened a long time ago..." She replied as she sat and curled her tail around her paws, ears perked to listen. She was invested, now, to get the chance to learn some Riverclan history.
