Stretching and yawning to chase the sleepiness from his bones, Eelsting padded out of the warriors’ den. He’d taken to getting up early and going for a run through the territory to get out some of his energy before the start of the day and had slept in a bit late after returning to his nest from that trip. The sun beat down on the warrior’s smoky grey fur and he purred contentedly despite the chill in the air.

Eelsting didn’t mind the cold, though he preferred the warmer seasons, and he actually looked forward to the next time it would snow. Maybe he could take Turtlepaw out for a snowball fight with Mossygrove and Springpaw! He’d need to remember to ask Mossy about it and see how she felt. Meanwhile, he might as well eat something before going for a hunt. A bass was calling his name from the top of the prey pile, so Eelsting fetched the chilly creature and settled to eat in the sunlight.

Mid bite, Eelsting heard a greeting beside him. The smoky tom perked his ears and looked up to see Graytail, a clanmate to whom he’d barely, if ever, spoken. Quickly swallowing the morsel and regretting taking such a big bite, Eelsting returned her greeting.

“Hey, how’s it going?”

The tom’s pale green eyes blinked lazily up at the newcomer as he awaited her response and Eelsting somehow managed to drift partially away on his thoughts. He at first was wondering if Graytail needed something, but her tone seemed more on the friendly side of things so he presumed she just wanted to make conversation- which was fine by him. It was only after that train of thought that Eel switched to wondering about a completely unrelated topic- where should he hunt later?

"Good, how's it going for you?" she mewed to Eelsting "What do you got there?" she couldn't tell what fish, it was already destroyed, or, had a big bite out of it. She sat down and licked her paw, waiting for an answer
