“Pretty good. This here is one of the finest bass I’ve ever laid eyes on. Maybe I should’ve saved it for the queens or kits but I’ll head out to catch another big one in a bit!”

Chuckling, the smoky warrior turned back to his fish and grabbed another large bite, savoring the juicy flavor of the tender meat. It must have been fairly fresh and Eelsting could practically feel it giving him energy and improving his mood.

Graytail nodded "Did you hear? Sootstar is choosing a deputy soon. I wonder who he'll pick." she shrugged "I will like his choice, no matter who they are!"

Was that right? Sootstar was choosing a deputy soon? Eelsting actually hadn’t heard that and he looked up from his bass with surprise.

“Wow, really? I hadn’t heard that actually. Who do you think he might choose? I can’t think of any warriors whom I would be reluctant to welcome as deputy so I feel rather good about this imminent announcement! Wow, I wonder who it is...”

The grey furred warrior couldn’t help but state dramatically off into the distance for a moment. He honestly couldn’t think of a cat who wouldn’t make a good deputy. Maybe Goosefury would be chosen. He knew that that Tom was a good warrior, though he hadn’t talked to him very much. Another choice that Eelsting would make, despite his lack of leaderly knowledge, was Sassafrasfire. He didn’t know them any better than he knew Goosefury but they were another warrior that he wouldn’t mind fighting beside.

Eelsting let out a chuckle and nodded in agreement.

“I suppose that’s true- I’m sure there are a lot of cats around who are hoping for a chance at deputy. I wonder how he’s going to choose.”

There weren’t any cats that Eel could think of off of the top of his head who absolutely shouldn’t be deputy, though there were probably those who would abuse the power. Sootstar probably had a list of who he had his eye on, but Eelsting personally wouldn’t know where to start with that. Maybe it was just one of those skills you learned when you became leader.

She curled the tip of her tails (yes, tailS), in happiness, and walked over to the fresh-kill pile, and took, what looked like a Salmon. and padded back over. "Yeah, I guess so." she mewed in agreement

Mothshade padded up to the fresh kill pile and deposited a trout and 2 minnows. Satisfied with his hunting for the day, he took a small bluegill and started munching. Finally in peace, his thoughts wandered to Twigpaw. Aw geez, I hope I can train them properly...I want to do my best for him. It's not his fault he got stuck with me for a mentor. @Shadeleaf

Lotusheart was still moody about her recent quarrel with Lionstorm. That narcissist was such a pain! She padded over to the fresh kill pile, just as a tom around her size was picking out some prey. She considered starting up a conversation, but was scared she'd accidentally start venting or get any other negative effects from the recent argument. She realized she was staring at the fresh kill pile for a minute now.

Finishing his food, Mothshade looked up to notice a she-cat who had probably been there a while. "Uh...Am I in your way?" He got up to move, but realizing he was still hungry, took a small carp before moving out of the way. @Shadeleaf
