WindClan: Life Before 2023's Fire

A massive tom padded into the camp carrying a large bird in his maw. His fur was caked with grime and dirt and it was clear that he was in need of a washing. His eyes flickered towards the tom that dragged the body of a clanmate into camp with him. Batglare dropped his catch on the fresh-kill pile and padded over towards Deertalon, although, paused when the slender form of the clan leader showed herself. She barely glanced at him before bypassing the missing warrior and heading over to the other warrior.

"What happened?" Tail lashing and eyes narrowed, Twilightstar walked over to Deertalon with a firm scowl on her maw. She dipped her head to sniff at the unmoving body with a hint of worry. She fixed Deertalon with a cool glare while waiting for an explanation. Yet another death to announce.

"Than why don't we start apprentice training." he said. "Surely it would be more successful than kit's games." @amber'light

The Siamese tom dipped his head respectfully towards his leader. "I-I'm sorry, Twilightstar. I know this is sudden." His tail twitched behind him like a fearful snake, quick and anxious. "I found her near the edge of the territory; I'm not sure exactly what got to her, but..." He moved some fur out of the way on Featherbreeze's body, revealing a long, wide gash down her shoulder that was still bleeding heavily. "Maybe a dog, based on this? I-I don't know. There's another one similar to it on her chest."

cherrykit giggled, 'you know I used to be just like you, I always had to be so serious..." her eyes softened as she was reminded of herself, she shook the memory away, "lets make a deal, you play a few games with us and when I become an apprentice I'll come back and teach you everything I was taught!" she tilted her head, "and I'm sure you will impress your future mentor...so deal?" @Fallenpine

It takes the young she-cat another heartbeat to realize that someone had aroused in the den to her arrival, but blinking in the dimly lit shade of the shelter, she spots him. Honey was his name- She could recall that much at least, but beyond that he was a total stranger to her! News might have traveled fast among the cats of the Clans, but Elderpaw had a tendency to learn very little about a lot. Regardless of what she did or did not know of this tom however, she warms to him all the same. A lovely smile blossoms on her maw, her expression brightening like the sun finally showing itself after a cloudy day. "Hello," the gray and white tabby meows as cheerily as her 'indoor voice' would permit. "I'm sorry if I woke you! But I am terribly bored right now, and was hoping to catch a story or two!" Realizing that this new guy probably wouldn't have the slightest idea as to what she meant by that, the little apprentice decides to tag on: "The elders, they don't really do much else than reminisce anymore, you know?" She hoped that Honey was friendly- Although she had a hunch that anyone would be easier to talk to than her very own mentor tended to be.

He rolled over onto his back, propping his hind legs up onto the lip of the nest, his upper back being pushed up. He was a rather big tom. so It was quite a funny pose, elbows tucked into his sides, paws resting on his chest fur. "Sokay. Can't really sleep anyways. Stomach hurts." he mumbled. As the She-cat rambled on about how much she wanted to hear tales of whatever and all that Honey found himself drifting off. Until, that is, she explained what exactly she was talking about.

"Oh! They're story tellers? I knew a cat who lived next door to us. He liked to talk about all this silly stuff. Is that what the Elders do?" the Golden tabby asked, tilting his head to the side. Droopy hues now lit with excitement. It was something recently all the other Clan cats had been avoiding him like the plauge. It was nice to have someone approach him, made him feel just a little bit wanted.

Twilightstar looked at Foxpudge as she walked back up to her. "Goatpaw? Let me guess he needs a new mentor too." She surmised, she'd add that to the list of cats in need of mentors. Before he could walk off like before she swiftly reaches out with a paw to lightly cuff Foxpudge over the head. "That was for earlier." The molly didn't bother explaining herself, she could cuff whoever she wanted she was the leader.
Her eyes flickered over to another cat as he wandered over and sat down in front of her. He looked like he had several illnesses and seemed to be spacing out. She hadn't been actually introduced to this cat, just told that he had asked about joining the clan. Which she did not recall saying yes or no to... Anyway, it was about time he came and spoke to her.
She'd scold Batglare later for not bringing the cat to her, as most did, upon arrival. "What is wrong with you, if you're not feeling well you should head to the medicine cat's den." This cat didn't seem like he was adjusting to well to clan life. She had gotten used to cats looking a little bony but not like this.

The Kittypet blinked a few times before his eyes actually focused on the Leader. "Do they fix hunger? Don't really trust most of those greens in there. They smell gross." he murmured after a delay in his response. His nose wrinkling at the thought of the smell. His attention was pulled away from Twilightstar as he looked at all the moving, busy felines around him. Ears quivering for a moment before he lifted his head and looked back up at the much taller Cat. "How do you all do it? Surely you're hungry too? It can't just be me? Cold too." he asked, although most of it was under his own breath. But seconds after Honey answered his own question. "Ah, wait nevermind, I wasn't born in the wild I'm not used to it I suppose..." the Golden tabby once again began to space out. He was...tired, and he felt incredibly heavy. It was hard to move, even with his thick coat he was freezing.

As warmth got ripped away from him, the kit let out a gargled whimper before he shuffled around, kicking his hind legs up in the air in an attempt to kick himself onto his stomach. After a few moment's of struggling, he finally managed to get halfway there, nestled into the side of the nest on his side. Mewls of accomplishment were muffled by the nest, as his face was pressed against it. As he heard his siblings yips he swung his head back and stayed there for a few moments, before opening his eyes. Not all the way, however, as the light hurt. It wasn't something he'd experianced before. It made his eyes water it was too bright to keep his eyes open for a long period of time. So Peonykit opened them, and closed them, and opened them again.

Once he was a little better adjusted to the light, big blue eyes blankly scanned the nest he and his siblings were huddled in.

Lupinegaze watched with small amazement as they began to open their eyes, one after the other. She flicked her tail with interest. This was actually important to her. if they had their eyes open, that meant they would start learning and communicating. This would make her job so much easier. She smiled at them and leaned closer peering at them one at a time, frowning at how silly the stubby tailed kittens looked.

"Hello there little ones, it's nice to finally see your eyes." She purred, she had so much to teach them! Now they just needed to get their fat little legs working.

Moonkit frowned at her mother as she leaned closer and mewled helplessly at the older cat. She looked around at her siblings, confused by all the newness in the world suddenly. She snaped her eyes shut for a moment to block it out, mewling in frustration. She just wanted her mother back so she could go back to the way things were.

"I've already mastered my hunting crouch, so I find it a waste of time. And, why would I bother impressing someone who I haven't met yet."
Violetkit rolled her eyes as her brother talked to Cherrykit.
