Puddlekit looked up at the grey tom. "I'm Puddlekit. Nice to meet you too!" The two warriors seemed very nice. I wonder if they could be my adoptive parents, he thought. The russet kit had less than a moon left in the nursery until he was apprenticed, but it would be nice to have cats he could look up to or talk to when he needed some advice.

The young tom turned his head back towards Crescentmoon. "I don't have a mother or a father," he mewed. "I got separated from my mother when I was younger, and I never met my father."

The relief was evident on Quiverpaw's features as she entered WindClan camp and was enveloped in the comforting scent of her clanmates. However, she only took a few moments to enjoy it, for she was on a mission, knowing she couldn't just show up again unannounced. Luckily, the young she-cat spotted Twlightstar upon the breezerock. She only hesitated a moment, feeling a pang of sadness, and realizing that she had been slightly hoping her mother had returned while she was away. Shaking the ridiculous thought away, she swallowed nervously and approached the boulder on which Twlightstar was perched. "Hello, Twlightstar." She meowed quietly, as to not startle the other cat. "I'm glad you look well." The apprentice didn't quite know what else to say, but she figured the leader would know why she was back here again. Or it could be that the leader didn't know who she was either, so she continued: "Uh, my name's Quiverpaw," She meowed. "I was hoping you'd allow me to come home..."

Snailkit woke up from her peaceful nap. Finally, I think they’re done with their game. thought the tired kit. She blinked a couple times, before realizing that a stampede of moss balls were flying at her once more. “Ok, how many moss balls did you guys make?” Protested the young kit. “I swear that there was only one when we started the game! Isn’t this getting a bit, cra—“ just then, Snailkit got hit in the face with a huge mossball. Unamused, the young kit hopped back in the game and started hurdling moss balls at Dawnkit, Puddlekit, and Basilkit.

He looked over at Crescentmoon with unguarded, yearning eyes.

This was it. This was his chance. What should he say? Would she agree? Would Puddlekit agree?

There was only one way to find out...

"Crescentmoon…" he whispered. "I know we're technically just friends right now, but..." he swallowed forcefully. "I think this kit deserves a family, and I think that... oh, geez..."

The she-cat blinks her eyes open when her name is said. Boulderkit's sweet voice was like music to her ears, and she smiles at him. "Hey!" The apprentice chirps happily, her tail curling up. She rearranges herself to seem a little more presentable to the kit. "What brings you back out here? Aren't you tired?" Her mentor had deposited the kit into the nursery for some rest, but it seemed he was quite alright going without. Perhaps... Well, she didn't want to assume anything negative. Although, she hadn't yet had the chance to tell Batglare that this one's mother had passed away. There just wasn't a moment she found suitable.
