¨I can hunt, from catching rats. But I mostly dug around in trash cans.¨ Tundra said, wincing. That was disgusting, now that she had tasted forest prey she wasn´t sure she could ever go back to eating moldy, rotten and dirty food scraps.

Mulberry rolled her eyes. She probably had fleas. Not like she would let the stranger anywhere near her newborns anyway.

Tundra flinched at Mulberry´s eyeroll, but tried to hide it. She was not going to show this cat she cared. After all, it isn´t like I have feelings or anything! She thought, twitching her whiskers. Turning to face Tigerlily, she shrugged. ¨It´s a lot better than the alleyways, I´ll tell you that.¨ Needing some fresh air, she rose to her paws. ¨I think I´ll go hunt. You can come if you´d like.¨

After thinking for a moment, she jumped to her feet. "Sure. Let's go." She plunged into the tunnel and emerged, blinking, into the sunlight. "I never quite got used to how bright it was up here compared to down there," she meowed.

Mulberry

Mulberry watched them. "Sure, you can go. Thanks for asking," she muttered under her breath. She wasn't sure why she was in such a bad mood, but she blamed it on the visitor.

She smiled at Tigerlily. ¨Great! Where should we hunt?¨ Determined to bring back plenty of prey, and show Mulberry that Tundra could help out and wouldn´t be a deadweight, she added. ¨What is the best place to hunt?¨

Codi stalked the edge of the clearing, his golden tabby fur sleek and shiny from his previous groom. The golden tom sat and glared through the cats with slitted eyes. An easy target. This'll be fun! He thought, cleaning his claws. "Willow! C'mere!"

"Hmm. To be honest, I really haven't done a lot of hunting," she confessed. "My brothers do most of that. Jaggedfang usually takes them out and does stuff with them. Mulberry tried to do that with me, but she has another litter now, so that won't happen." The newborns would get all her attention and Tigerlily felt a prickle of jealousy. She pushed it away. Someone needed to take care of them. "Let's just pick a direction."
