@Constellation

Sproutwhisker looked up at the warming orange-hued sky above them as the two cats walked through the forest, the scent of various things tingling his nose as he gave a relaxed sigh. The soft spoken tom-cat’s ears twitched when his apprentice asked another question, which made his blue eyes flicker over to Noirepaw. She asked many questions and the male quite enjoyed answering them, finding it as a bonding experience between them. “To be honest, I don’t remember much from my kittypet life, I was very young, a few moons younger than you, before I was put out in the forest. The twoleg den reeked of many strange smells that stung my nose and the food that they gave us? Terrible. Dry and tasteless, nothing compared to the taste of a freshly caught fish from the river.” He exclaimed, smiling at her, “First of all, I didn’t choose to leave - as I stated before, I was cast out by my twolegs for reasons that are still unknown to me. After that happened, I no longer found the lazy, adventureless life of a twoleg pet to be much satisfying.” Sproutwhisker remarked, shaking his head, “I met Ripplewhisker, a tom-cat that passed away a few moons ago, and he told me of Riverclan. I was fascinated by the thought of clan life and he brought me here - I’ve been calling this place my home ever since.” The black-and-white male chuckled very so slightly at Noirepaw’s words, “I suppose you are right. I’m nearing the age of thirty moons and I’ve lived here since I was three moons old - I think I’m doing pretty well for myself.” Sproutwhisker purred happily, liking the way his apprentice acted around him. She wasn’t insulting or disgusted with his origins. He had no intent to go back to the kittypet life anyways, clan life made him feel alive. Noirepaw’s next words made him eye her with a smirk. “Quite the appetite, huh?” The mentor teased, “Well, let’s see if your hunger will push the quality of your performance up for today’s lesson.” The young she-cat’s excitement made him smile, glad to be around someone that was eager to learn and train as much as he was. When he noticed her going ahead a bit, he shook his head. “Don’t go too far now, Noirepaw. You’ll get lost out here since you don’t know all of the territory by memory yet - which you will know, with time, of course.” Sproutwhisker inhaled a breath and trotted forward, “We’ll start with land hunting first and then move onto hunting in the water.” He instructed her with a flick of his tail, “Step one, scent around the area - do you smell anything around here or anything that once was here? Tell me what you can detect from where you are now.” The tom-cat halted in his tracks in the grass, awaiting her to do as she was explained to do.

@Little Bird

Water. The one thing that saved my life. Taking a deep breath of the moist air, a ginger tomcat slunk through the undergrowth just inside of Riverclan's territory. His sharp ears picked up the sound of the river rushing, a sound that would always comfort the tom. Burn cast his misty green gaze down to his left leg, the one that was burnt, the fur black and crisp, never to grow again. The end half of his tail was also burnt. This had happened to him in a fire as a young apprentice. When he had still lived in his old clan, Thunderclan. The past moon, Burn had been hanging around the clans, and he had just loved on from Windclan to Riverclan. During his time in Windclan, he had been with a she-cat named Searwhisper. She was certainly pretty, and Burn had fun with her flirtatious personality. But, of course, as soon as she had announced she was with his kits, Burn left as subtly and quickly as he could. Now, he planned to find a she-cat here to have some fun with.

Lifting his nose to the air, Burn breathed in deep to try and distinguish a cat scent from the other scents floating through the air. He could sense a slightly fresh cat scent. A cat had passed here earlier. Oh well. Might as we'll wait. I've got al the time in the world. True that, he did. Ever since abandoning his life as a warrior and becoming a rogue, he had had much more time on his paws, which he enjoyed much more than constantly having to perform duties such as hunting for the clan and patrolling. He hunted for himself now.

The ginger tomcat sat down, wrapping his tail around his paws. He might as well get comfortable if he was going to wait here for a while. On the way here, Burn had walked through a stream, disguising his rogue scent, but in the hot green-leaf sun, even his thick fur had dried quickly.

Doesong padded over to the river. She had nothing to that day, nothing at all. She was completely free to do whatever she wanted. Well, mostly whatever she wanted. No one could ever do everything they wanted. Almost everything, but never everything. It was an odd world, and you just had to get used to it. Live in it. Not really care.

Suddenly a scent hit her nostrils. A cat scent. She smelt another cat! Now the cat didn't smell like a rouge, or like a loner, but it didn't smell like Riverclan either. Doesong had lived in Riverclan long enough to know what was their scent, and what wasn't. This wasn't. She looked around, attempting to find the location of the scent. She did. Doesong followed over to another cat. She jerked to a stop just in front of him. "What are you doing here?" she hissed.

Doesong could tell this cat was a rouge or a loner. Doesong, despite being a kind molly, hated rouges. Her mother had been a rouge, her father a Thunderclan cat, and she held grudges against both rouges, and Thunderclan now. They had both mistreated her. There was only one Thunderclan cat she liked, and that was a different story.

Soon enough, a strong Riverclan scent hit the ginger tom's nose, and he focused in ot it. It was a female scent. Perfect. Burn's face was overtaken by a malicious smile. He wouldn't have to wait long for his fun today. It was coming right to him. What a lucky day for me. As he waited for the she-cat to approach, Burn ran through reaal s why he would be here in his head. He knew that she would probably ask why he was there, so he has to be perfectly prepared. He clearly didn't smell like Riverclan, but he didn't smell like anything else either. Just like a cat.

When she burst through the bushes in front of him, hissing, Burn let himself jump in surprise, I sheathing his claws slightly. He had decided to take upon him the startled loner demeanor. Her question was just what he had suspected. "Oh, h-hel-lo. I'm sorry if I passed over the border, I was being chased by rogues, it was the only safe place!" Burn let his ears droop and his green eyes brim with tears. He was quite the actor. "I'm a simple loner, and I was chased out of my home." Tears started to fall, soaking into the toms burnt tail that was laid out in front of him. "And my dear mate, whom I had loved so much, was part of that throng of rogues. She played me, I thought she had loved me." Burn wrapped his tail right around his paws, closing his eyes and letting the tears continue to stream down his face. After a moment, he lifted his head up, opening his green eyes, which were glassy from the excess water in them. "I understand though, if you have to chase me out. Once more."

If any of Burn's previous mates saw his actions right here, right now, they would surely give him a nice hard blow, claws unsheathed, across the face. But they weren't here. And Burn was an excellent actor. He knew how to fake emotions, because he had none of his own. Although, he was taking a big risk telling that whole story to this she-cat, as she might know who he was. He was a ginger cat with green eyes, a very common color to see in cats. Sure, he had a white muzzle as well. But his burnt tail and left hind leg was the feature that made him stand out. He just hoped that this she-cat didn't know who he was. Otherwise he could be in trouble.

Doesong felt a sudden stab of sympathy for the tom. She had never really felt so sorry for a cat. She had been through a lot in her life, making her heart tough and hard to get to. But something about him made the hard shell melt. The brown tabby molly froze, she didn't know what to do. This had never happened to her before. It seemed very strange. She assumed she felt sorry for him. It must have been hard for him. In some ways she could relate to him. She had thought her mother had loved her. But it was his mate. That must have hurt even more."I guess you can stay for a little while." she said, finally giving in.

Usually Doesong would have driven him out by now. She would have had a smile of satisfaction at chasing a rouge out. But she didn't. That didn't happen. He wasn't fleeing fro his life. He was standing there. Crying. While she was frozen to the spot.

Suddenly she relieved how stupid she most look. Standing there. Frozen. Doesong gathered herself together, sitting down with her tail wrapped around her paws. Her neck fur started to stop bristling. Her gaze began to relax a little. She looked at him, waiting for him to say something.

Once he had helped Quillpaw to his paws, the russet apprentice stepped away, breaking the contact between the two. Spicepaw had found it clearly necessary to help the younger cat up. Nearing warrior age, Spicepaw had just figured that the new apprentice needed help. He didn't find it weird at all. Spicepaw also supposed that he would have to wait at least four more moons for his warrior ceremony, even though he was close to being of age. He had been out of the clan for too long, an Spicepaw figured his father wouldn't want to be seen showing favoritism. But the tabby didn't mind spending a few more moons as an apprentice. That just meant he could perfect his skills even more.

At Quillpaw's words, Spicepaw let out a huff, half amusement half annoyance. "Well I can clearly see that." He meowed, rolling his eyes, but if you looked carefully into the yellow-green hues, you could see they were sparking with humor. He was also quite surprised as Quillpaw merged from cheery into embarrassed. Usually when cats did that, they had just realized something embarrassing. At least that's why Spicepaw had learned. "And yeah, no problem. So we'll continue this way. There's a pond over here, it's one of my favorite places on the territory." The russet-colored tom meowed, a small smile entering his face. It kind of made him look like he was a little embarrassed to tell Quillpaw about this special pond.

Continuing on, Spicepaw flattened his ears against his head, getting lost in thought. He had realized that he wasn't spending as much time with his mother as he used to, but she would be okay. Right? Spicepaw also hadn't visited his sisters Rabbitpaw, Cricketpaw, and Applethorn. He supposed he really needed to do that. But Spicepaw didn't want to be part of the family drama. So he'd been avoiding his family members. Maybe Quillpaw could keep me busy... The younger splotch-furred cat seemed to make Spicepaw actually happy, and to be honest with himself, the tom enjoyed Quillpaw's company.
Quillpaw immediately brightened at the mention of one of Spicepaw's favored places. He felt genuinely honored to be shown such a place by the reserved tomcat himself, and he clearly let his thankfulness be shown. He grinned widely, observing the ounce of a smile that grew across Spicey's face. He wondered if the sturdy feline ever got flustered before this moment, but then he wondered if Spicepaw was even truly embarrassed right then. After all, the smile could just be a smile? But Quillpaw decided to please himself, and decided Spicey was embarrassed.

``Great!`` The multi-colored apprentice chirped, walking alongside the older tom. Quillpaw felt tingles in his pelt during the shared silence, which he strongly disliked. He never liked to leave himself alone with his mind - it was boring. And his brain worked better when he was talking, or doing something productive. But the silence helped him realize something. With a tone laced with both shock and sadness, Quillpaw announced, ``I don't have a favorite place in the territory.`` He looked very torn apart at this realization, his eyes narrowed sadly and his mouth curved downward in a frown.

Quillpaw grew up around toms, his father and his two brothers. He wasn't very educated on the identity of his biological mother, and his father was too distant to ever bring her up. His father, Frostedhawk, was a cold, distant, but loyal warrior. He genuinely loved his father, despite the tough-love. And his brothers he loved, as well. Mudpaw was the best sibling he could ever ask for, but Foampaw was a different story. Foampaw was similar to Frostedhawk personality-wise, but much more cold and distant, and arrogant. Often, Quillpaw would wonder if Foampaw even cared about him.

He came from a large family, but hadn't ever met anyone outside his nuclear kin. Quillpaw felt like a stranger in his family, as if he was just a small piece to an insanely-large puzzle. If he were missing from the puzzle, nobody would notice nor care because they wouldn't see the tiny blank space where he should fit. A majority of his immediate family were also distant, as explained before, which made it seem as if Quillpaw didn't even share a biological link with them. But he tried not to think about it too much.

Snowpetal sat next to the river. So quiet... So calm... She thought. She touched the water lightly with her paw and watched as small ripples went across the water. ...Now its not calm... Snowpetal glanced over her shoulder from time to time, to see if anyone was coming. No one? Alright.

Which was extremely odd since she was a riverclan cat through-in-though. The only part of her pelt she allowed to get wet were her paws. In contrast, Angelcloud rather have her short pelt wet. The loved the feel of the chills dancing through her body. As of now, the two felines thought it was a well enough nice day to get some play time in. Well, not necessarily play time. More so, Angelcloud have all the fun while Heavencloud sat and watch. It was nothing wrong with it. Heavencloud was the type of cat that was always kind hearted...somewhat. When upon first meeting her, you'd think she was the sweetest feline that ever graced the earth.

That was not the case, however. Angelcloud stomped her paws into the water, splashes droplets everywhere. When one hit Heavencloud, she shrieked. ''Hey!--Watch where you splash that stuff!'' She lowly growled. Heavencloud wasn't that aggressive of a cat. Only with her sister, who seemed to always annoy her every chance she got. It did little to phase Angelcloud, and instead of taking heed of what her sister had told her, the golden striped cat did it once more. The little droplets went into every corner it could find, and Heavencloud got up, shaking her smooth pelt. ''Grow up, Angelcloud.''

Angelcoud simply rolled her eyes. ''You need to learn how to let loose every once in a while, Heaven.'' She says, and begins to waddle her way further into the water. The water was cool, and she allowed herself to sink in. Days like this, as Greenleaf would soon come around, and the rainy weather would be meek, but the sun would show dominance. Angelcloud was grateful to have a pelt as smooth as her when it came to these months. Most cats had a lot of fur, which would do great in Leaf-bare. She sometimes found herself wailing during those cold months because she didn't have that fur length to keep her warm.

Now, that season was over, Angelcloud would always be found out near the river, swimming occasionally. Heavencloud would sometimes join her, if she weren't fishing, she would be sunning herself, allowing the sun to make her pelt glow lighter than it already was. Her mind would be lost in oblivion. The best time to think for her would be near the river, where she could hear the fish swimming, or the water running. It was soothing comfort for her that Angelcloud would never understand.

Angelcloud didn't like the silence. At all. It scared her. She thought it was weird whenever something was too quiet. Her boisterous personality would knock it down in a heartbeat either way. ''You should join me! The water feels great!'' Angelcloud cooed.

Heavencloud, laid back down, allowing one paw to slither into the water. It did feel nice, but she didn't dare go into the water. Unknown to others, Heavencloud was hydrophobic. The mere thought of drowning displeased her. Not even her sister was aware of that fear she had. ''I think I'm just going to...relax. '' She nodded. Yeah, that sounded good. Sounded like a good plan to her. Before her sister could even question about her decision, Heavencloud quickly added, ''Did you see Splashheart recently--and the kits?''

Angelcloud wadded in the water, her paws fiercely padding forward. She was a focused cat, and besides that she was in the middle of having fun. Angelcloud was that type of cat. She adored anything that had to do with having fun. Whether it was bothering the elders or babysitting the kits. Their friend, Splashheart had recently given birth to some cute little bundles. Heavencloud would usually be the one helping out or babysitting, whereas Angelcloud was only there for a good time. The golden striped she-cat quickly glanced towards her sister, ''What...? Oh, no I haven't. I've been meaning to though. How are they?''

Heavencloud simply let a smile grace her face. She never thought kits would be something to cherish, but they were. Even if they weren't hers. Seeing Splashheart or Mixedfur interact with the kits made her heart melt. Heavencloud imagined she would meet a tom to fall in love with, but the she cat was a bit...complicated. Since she never been in love before, she liked to play around. Nothing too serious. She just didn't grasp the meaning of it, even if she seen the public display of affection going around Riverclan like a virsus. It bothered her to a minimum, but could you stop it? If Heavencloud had the power, she probably would.

Angelcloud didn't think too much of it. She was more of that she cat that thought along the lines of, It happens, it happened. There was little that phased Angelcloud. As of the moment, she continued to paddle into the water, and she wished that her younger sister would follow along in her pawprints--but now, she laid there, content. Her eyes closed, and a small smile upon her maw. ''Growing. As usual.'' Heavencloud sighed, twitching her ears. ''I'm thinking Splashheart would bring them to the river someday. Get them started on their swimming lessons.''

''Hopefully, they would do good. You know they're not...full clan blood.'' Angelcloud remarked. In response, Heavencloud simply shrugged, and it was the end of the conversation there. The golden spotted she cat's paws dangled in the water, as that was how she would go. She would never dare get her pelt soaking wet like Angelcloud would. And, thus that was their day. When they weren't busy with warrior duties, they were caught enjoying a dip. Angelcloud witnessed a fish jumping up from the lake, and her eyes locked on it before she began padding ferociously towards it, charging at it like a mad bull seeing the color red. When Heavencloud heard a splash, her eyes flickered open, afraid that her sister was being obnoxious again, but it was simply Angelcloud--a few moments away, swiping at a fish while in the water. Heavencloud admired her sister greatly, despite being annoyed by her, and sometimes she wished she had Angelcloud's skillful nature, but Heavencloud wasn't that way. Heavencloud was simply a dull cat, as she liked to believe she was. Angelcloud was the life of the party. She was the go-getter, the goal-setter, the comical girl that everyone loved to be around. Heavencloud was like her shadow, mellow and quiet, somewhat feisty, but nonetheless overlooked because she never was the one to conversate much.

It’s always good to be who you are. You cannot control where you came from, but that does not decide your path or how you act.

Those were the words Noirepaw kept repeating in her head. She loved to absorb knowledge from more experienced warriors, or elders. It was always nice to soak in a piece of advice. And, it would stay with her for many moons to come. Upon stepping into the territory, the she cat looked around. The smell of fish entering into her snout as she saw the nearby river. Fish were riverclan's source of protein. Their main object to eat. Noirepaw somewhat liked the taste of fish. It got boring every once in a while, but she did like the tasty flesh in her mouth. Noirepaw looked at her mentor once again, tilting her head at his words. Her ears stayed open as she tried to imagine what life would had been like for him as an apprentice. It was quite surprising that her mentor had been like her. Introverted, no friends, smart. It was nothing wrong with that. Noirepaw felt that she could connect with her mentor now. Except for the fact that he was a former kittypet. The she cat knew that clans weren't so...nice when it came to kittypets. They were, after all, deemed weak and worthless to a clan. They were spoiled, bratty, and didn't know any skills of survival. Yet, here she was! She had a mentor that was a former kittypet. Noirepaw would never know that feeling--of being a kittypet. All she knew was that after her mother died from kit birthing, her father ran off with some other she cat, leaving her to die. Wolfdancer was nice enough to adopt her into her family, thus becoming her new mother. A mother who adopted many, many kits and so many siblings that Noirepaw usually forgot most of their names. ''How was that--Life as a kittypet I mean? Why did you leave?'' Noirepaw never understood why some cats left the comfort of two-legs den, where they didn't have to worry if they would eat the next day. Surviving was hard. Living was critical. Many kits didn't make it to their first moon usually. With being a kittypet, Noirepaw figured they wouldn't have to worry much about it. ''You seemed to turn out okay,'' Noirepaw gave a small smile, joking. Slowly, she was loosening up. At his words about the warrior code, she found it funny that he knew more than she did--and, she was an actual born clan cat. The black feline listened intently as she trotted on looking through the territory. ''Oh, don't worry. I will eat all of the prey. I have quite the appetite!'' Plus, it was morning time, and she hadn't had any food. Though she didn't mind hunting for her clan. Hunting was important. The clan needed to be fed. There was a lot to learn when it came to the warrior code, and Noirepaw was sure Sproutwhisker was going to teach it to her. Then, the she cat let out a purr, ''I can't wait! I'm excited!'' She stated before she began to prance around a little further than her mentor. ''Come on! Let's go!''
Upon reaching the river, Cardinalflash's hues sparked with surprise and then interest as he looked at the she cats. Without even looking at Jaywhisper, he knew that the tom was probably scowling - this had not been his plan, after all, and when things didn't go according to plan he tended to get angry. But Cardinalflash was pleased. He loved she cats! Well... he loved playing with them, anyways. They were so much fun. He was about to bound into the lake and impress them both with his incredible swimming capabilities, but then seemed to think better of it. Whether that was a show of cowardice or not was debatable. See, Cardinalflash put on a big act, but he wasn't always this "brave." He was pretty annoying, really, and arrogant... stuck up... no one really like the type of personality that had been given to the tom. And included in the category of "no one" was the feline himself.

Yeah, Cardinalflash did his best to act tough and hard and 'awesome,' but he had been hurt before. He wasn't immune to pain, after all. And heartbreak. Staying away was safer then being hurt, and if anyone was going to get hurt, he preferred it to be the other cat rather then him. A cowardly move, but when it came to things like that? Cardinalflash was a true coward at heart. Approaching Angelcloud, who seemed to be the prettier and more fun-looking of the two cats, Cardinalflash debated knocking her into the water for a moment - then shook his head. No, no he didn't want to hurt her. Or scare her. And if he were to knock her into the water, he might do both. So the tom remained still, wondering if he should talk to her or wait for her to notice him. Moments passed like this before he sighed, shifted his weight, and approached the feline somewhat uncertainly.

"Join me for a swim?"
He purred in his usual, friendly tone as he came up behind Angelcloud. Cardinalflash's always-twinkling eyes roamed over her body... taking in every color of it. She had more of a striped appearance, the other she cat having a golden spotted one. Where was Jaywhisper, and why wasn't he scolding Cardinalflash for bothering the cats? Whatever. It didn't matter. It certainly wasn't like the tom missed the nagging... he could do without his brother being more like a Mother. "I'm Cardinalflash, but you can call me Cardinal - or C-flash. Whichever one you find easier." The key to having a nature like that was to be able to take it slower. Don't rush into everything all at once - Cardinalflash had learned that the hard way. The slower he took this, the more sucess he would have in the end. Never yet had the tom met a she cat able to take his heart.

And naturally he never would. I mean, some of the she cats were obviously way too desperate. They tried far too hard for Cardinalflash's liking... and he had found that most of them failed. Obviously. The tom awaited the feline's response, wondering who she was - why they had chosen now to come to this part of the territory - and if she was going to take him up on his offer and let him steal her heart.

As it had been predicted, Jaywhisper was not too happy about the two she cats being there. His hues narrowed and he looked frustrated for a moment before he sighed. What was there to be done about it? Just sit there and wait for them to leave, or enjoy the water while he could? One of them appeared to be quieter then the other, and Jaywhisper made his way over in that direction. Of course he wouldn't speak to her. Why would he? She cats were a waste of time and space, and their sole purpose was to give life to kits or for more warriors to be a part of the Clan. Though Jaywhisper thought the toms could handle the fighting just fine. He'd never been much of a fan of she cats and he wasn't quite sure how to react to this one. Anytime he was around a she cat he always got so awkward!! It was as though his intelligent mind had been replaced with... with Cardinalflash's or something.

And perhaps that was a bit unfair, but honestly Jaywhisper was so angry at this point he didn't care. The tom curled his tail around his paws and watched the sun glisten off the water. He didn't want to go anywhere near that cheerful bundle of energy, so he stayed still. If he were to swim he might draw their attention. Perhaps if he didn't move they wouldn't notice he was vulnerable. See, Jaywhisper had always thought of she cats and toms as predator and prey. She cats preyed on the innocent hearts of toms, and the toms, being the prey that they were, tried to get away before it was too late. Nine times out of ten? The she cats had a sucessful hunt and were left to make their prey do things for them. Jaywhisper was careful not to get himself roped into something like that. It was a committment that the feline never wanted to find himself making, just like his flashy brother.

Oh yeah, Jaywhisper knew for all Cardinalflash's flirting, the tom wasn't actually willing to settle down. He could have had his pick long ago. But he wasn't going to deal with it. The slate-colored tom watched Cardinalflash from a distance, a slight smile appearing on his features as he noticed the tom's confusion about him not showing up. "On your own this time, C-flash." He purred with a pleased expression as he watched. Yeah, where would his brother be without him to get the tom out of trouble? Struggling. That was where. All Jaywhisper had to do was wait for Cardinalflash to see that he wasn't as natural of a flirter as he thought he was. Part of it was with Jaywhisper's help by trying to pull him away. It was like he only wanted what he couldn't have more. Sort of like a kit. Or a spoiled apprentice. And so, the slate tom would wait and watch and hope that this time the flashy feline would learn his lesson.

Not everything could be won by flashing a smile at it. Or coming up with a quick, clever remark to make a she cat swoon. Jaywhisper had had those little crushes before, tried to copy his brother's nature... only to find that the she cat didn't even like that kind of thing. What a coincidence. It made him want to growl, but he didn't dare, not with the other she cat nearby. Which reminded him - she hadn't heard his earlier remark to his brother, right? Surely not.

I mentioned on my profile that I was starting over. A fresh start is best for me right now; I've created quite a few new characters, and they will all be on my site, but not all will be used in roleplay right away. it's likely I'll bring them in more gradually.

@Tigress
A small cream coloured kit rolled around. He noticed a she-cat sitting by the water. Who is she? the little kit wondered. He stepped closer to her until he could almost touch her. "Hello?" The kit mewed in a quiet voice.

Snowpetal pricked her ears and turned around. "Hi there," She meowed, looking down at the kit. "What are you doing outside of camp?"
