However, he smiled gently as he watched her lift her muzzle and scent the area around where he now stood. The black-furred male nodded slightly to confirm that it was, indeed, a shrew that was the faint trail in their sight. Sproutwhisker observed the small she-cat as she moved around until she properly detected the trail that he had barely been able to pick up. Although, a sense of proudness went through him when Noirepaw said that she had found the smell, making his whiskers twitch with contentedness. When she then turned to him and asked about catching it, he nodded with a heartwarming smile on his muzzle. “Yes, this will be your first lesson in catching land prey.” Sproutwhisker said to her, stepping up next to his apprentice, “Now, what you do is simple - follow the trail until you get to it’s strongest point, however, make sure to tread lightly, keep your tail off the ground to not disturb leaves and watch where you put your paws - the simple snap of a stick could ruin your chance of catching it. Understand?” He looked up at the sky for a moment, the sky a dull greyish color with the occasional drop of rain showing itself to the forest floor. “Once you see the prey or find the strongest point of the trail - let me know and I’ll teach you the next step, okay?” He then awaited her response, looking down at the she-cat with a twitch of one ear.
Noirepaw felt her tail twitch with anticipation. She would be able to catch her first prey! She tried to keep her ears open to listen to her mentor, but her thoughts were going haywire. She felt the need of her paws to go quickly--to go fast, so she hurled herself forward, and yelled back at her mentor, ‘’Okay!’’ It was nothing wrong with excitement. Though her mother had always told her to listen, no matter what. Noirepaw was a bit distracted at this point, taking in every little scent that she could with her thoughts filled--which had to be the first red flag. She couldn’t empty her thoughts, but she kept her paws light on the trail. That was the easy part. She brought her head up from the trail, looking around. When she choose to take one path, she brought her head back down again, and scurried off towards a tree. She allowed her two front paws to latch onto the tree, and she looked up through the leaves. The nice greenery and the morning sun was always a pleasant sight to see, before she let go of the tree, and continue on. When she stopped, finding the strongest scent, she called back--probably too loud than she intended, ‘’Sproutwhisker! I found it! I found it!’’ Her tail twitched with excitement, and her eyes beamed.

Sproutwhisker’s ear twitched with amusement as he looked after his apprentice as she called back to him before running off, she was quite excited and he couldn’t possibly get mad at her for such a thing - for a cat, catching their first prey all on their own was a big deal. It truly made him feel like a wild cat when he had first caught something with no help whatsoever. As Noirepaw went after the faint scent, he quietly padded after her, making sure never to distract her with words or noises of his own. The tom-cat looked up at the trees as they waved in the wind, a cooling breeze ruffling his short black fur. Ever since he had come to the forest, he had always found relaxation and calmness in the atmosphere - much better than back in a dull twoleg place, in his opinion, and he knew many cats would agree with him. However, Sproutwhisker jumped slightly at the loud and abrupt call of his apprentice, signaling to him that she had found the strongest point on the trail. He quickened his pace through the forest floor until he reached her, a proud smile on his muzzle. He crouched down in the grass to avoid any detection.

“Good job, Noirepaw.” He purred, looking at the small she-cat, “I knew you could do it.” He lifted his muzzle and scented the air for himself, his tail twitching back and forth behind him as he did so. She was definitely in the right place, he could detect the shrew much better now - there was no doubt that it was nearby. He was thankful that he still smelled it nearby, even after her loud call to him could have scared it off. “Alright, the next step would be to find and catch your kill.” Sproutwhisker instructed, “Get low to the ground, low enough to where the grass barely touches your underbelly, but not completely - okay?” He did as he said, gesturing for her to do the same, “Do the same for your tail as you were doing before, lift it off the ground so you don’t brush any leaves or make any noise.” He looked at her with a gentle smile, “Also, remember to be much more quiet in the future when you are this close to prey, okay?” The tom hinted to her about how loud she was earlier, but there was only understanding and no harshness in his tone. “Now, stalk around in the undergrowth until you actually see the shrew in your sights - use bushes, trees and rocks to hide yourself and use them to your sneaking advantage. Once you get close enough to the shrew, run forward and use your back paws to leapt forward, but make sure not to overestimate where you are landing. That is important to remember. Then you use your unsheathed claws to latch into your catch and use your teeth to deliver the fatal bite to the back of it’s neck - make sure not to be gentle or it will most likely struggle and/or get away.”

He gave an exhale of breath and shook his head, knowing how much instruction he had just said to her. It was a lot, yes, but it was necessary for the lesson and he could only hope that Noirepaw would understand and do as he explained. “Once you think you have it down, go on your hunt - good luck, young one.” The young warrior purred and laid down in the grass, watching her response with observant, icy blue-hued eyes.

Default Re: RiverClan Territory

As the days were becoming longer, and the sun warmed the territories near the ocean, it became quite obvious that Green-leaf was upon the clans once more. The willows that dotted the RiverClan territory were bright and lively, swaying gently in the warm summer breeze. The soft murmur of the river lapping happily at the bank filled the air. The occasional rustle of the bushes showed the lush amount of prey, and the scent that permeated from them was pleasant. It was one of the most beautiful places in the clan territories. It wasn't dark and dreary like ShadowClan or ThunderClan's territories, and it wasn't open to attacks from above like WindClan. It was perfect. The supply of prey was plentiful, the river attracting them to it to nourish their thirst. Almost any animal that was caught in RiverClan was plump and juicy during the moons of green-leaf, when the vegetation bloomed and blossomed. It was the ideal place for any animal to live; it was the Earth's version of StarClan.

Cloudyfoot basked in the beauty, and the warmth that filtered through the willows, striking his tabby gray fur. Green-leaf was a great time for RiverClan, where they were the strongest clan that lived near the ocean. This was the time where the warrior like to hunt by himself and explore the territory, always amazed by how much it felt like a dream. If only this could last... Cloudyfoot thought with a flick of his tail. He knew it wouldn't, though, as green-leaf always gave way to leaf-fall, followed leaf-bare. Then the tides would turn for RiverClan. Most of the time, the river would overflow, practically drowning all of the clan. Then it would freeze over once the snow hit. As always, Cloudyfoot was optimistic of the next seasons to come, hoping that they wouldn't be as bitter as last.

The soft coo of the river filled all of Cloudyfoot's senses as he approached the frolicking water. The tabby warrior parted his jaws to let the scent of the river and the willows over take him. Those his walks during green-leaf were mostly to get matters off of his mind, he always figured it wouldn't hurt to hunt while he retraces the pawsteps of his ancestors. Cloudyfoot faced the river, his amber eyes darting back and fourth as fish floundered past in the current, sometimes spraying him with river water. He didn't mind, though, as it cooled him when the green-leaf sun started to scorch through his velvety fur.

As he kept staring, a large trout started to swim upstream, trying to fight the current. Where a small wave lapped continuously in the river came to the large fish, it jumped, attempting to overcome its obstacle blocking its path. Cloudyfoot saw his opportunity once the fish landed . As the fish splashed in its other attempt, he crouched, preparing for a leap. And when the fish made its second attempt to reach upstream, he launched himself at it, grabbing it around its gills to suffocate it. Once it stopped wriggling and flailing in his jaws, Cloudyfoot placed it tentatively on the ground, starting a pile of many more fish to come.

From sun-high to sunset, Cloudyfoot was fishing, eventually ending up with two trouts and a salmon to bring to the camp. He gathered two of the trouts, and started one of his treks back to the clearing. He then came back, his mouth free of the fish that it had held before. Cloudyfoot then picked up his other trout and salmon, he strutted home, a proud glint in his amber eyes, his striped tail twitching with happiness.

''Thank you,'' Noirepaw purred, but kept her eyes on the prize. The prize that was in front of her. Soon enough the prize that will be in her jaws if she followed her steps correctly. Truly, Noirepaw was excited about this. She forgot all about the early dawn, because now she was fully awake. She was ready to complete this next step, to earn some praise for her work. The she cat flicked her ears, and she drew them back, giving off a sheepish grin. ''Sorry--the excitement though,'' She felt a chill go down her at the slight scolding. Perhaps, she had been a little too loud. It was something she couldn't handle when she felt her heart beating a million times a second. Just from simple excitement that was. So, she nodded towards her mentor, and she gingerly began to walk around. Once, she stopped to breathe in a sharp breath of the air around her, then she slinked into the darkness.

Her black pelt could be excellent camouflage at night, but since it were morning, she would have to do her best. She lowered herself to the ground, keeping her muzzle in the air in the air to detect any scent of the prey she was after. A shrew. She was sniffing for a shrew, hoping to find it, and bring it back without any problems. But, there was always something. When her heart beat irregularly because she was nervous. Noirepaw was a nervous little thing--yet, she was confident. It was a conflicting thing to be both. She would always remain nervous until the deed was done. If succeeded? She would be proud of herself. If not? Expect sudden heartache. It was a simple thing. Any cat in a clan could do it. Noirepaw knew Sproutwhisker could do it since he's been in Riverclan for so long. So, no doubt she could do it.

There, it go! Her head swiveled upwards, catching note of the rodent as he ruffled around within the fallen leaves. Noirepaw moved forward--slightly. She didn't want to scare it, and as Sproutwhisker had told her--Keep quiet, keep low. She had to keep low. She had to move with much silence if this were to be successful. The shrew didn't seem to notice her, so she kept moving forward. Her yellow eyes the only thing that was glowing. It wasn't that hard, was it? To catch the simple little thing? Noirepaw knew she was the predator, and the shrew was the prey. She was much bigger than it, and with that in mind, she lunged forward. Though, she were unlucky. The shrew immediately ran off, going into a small hole. Noirepaw stomped her paw, displeased. ''What did I do wrong?'' She groaned, scrunching her nose. She kept low to the ground. She was quiet. She doubt anything could hear her light movements. Then, the heartache came, and the she cat felt that she was ready to burst. Turning back, she glanced towards her mentor. She couldn't come back with empty jaws. ''I can't allow him to see that I failed. I need to get this shrew.'' She whispered, and lashed her tail to the side, and she walked off a bit. There were nearby shrubs, and she hid herself within the brambles as she awaited for the food to come back out.

Silently, she waited. Silently, she became agitated. She couldn't stay out for long waiting for this, but she also couldn't go back to her mentor and tell him, I tried but I failed. It got away. With her body low to the ground, and her eyes peered ahead at the small hole that the rodent probably called home. Her ears flicked upwards at the sound of rustling, and she prepared herself for another chase. ''I can't just go after it this time. I got to be smart about this.'' She whispered, and slowly started to reveal herself to the small rodent. It was a good thing that it was turned, not noticing her. Her scent was clear. Another thing she had to worry about. With her body close to the ground, she stalked forward, her eyes never leaving the small critter.

How do I even attack this thing? She wanted to tilt her head for a moment, feeling her thoughts start to worry. Should I just wing it? She stopped. Why did she stop? Noirepaw breathed softly, and she felt her paws planted to the ground. She felt her heartbeat rising again, and she began to want to recoil. She couldn't do this. She wasn't ready. In fact, she felt scared now. She waited for her prey--and now that it came, she was backing out?

Unsheathe your claws.

Noirepaw looked down, seeing the soft fur that surrounded her paws, and she flexed them to reveal her sharp talons.

Latch onto your kill.

The she cat unconsciously licked her sharp fangs. That was what she remembered. And, that's what she will apply to this lesson. ''You can do this, Noirey.'' She breathed once again, and allowed her body to become one with the ground, and she moved forward. One quick flash. One swift movement. That's all it had to be, and so she done it. She lunged towards the prey, latching her claws onto the critter, and she watched it squirm around. She was complete astonishment--surprise. ''I did it.'' She whispered, breathlessly. She forgot for a moment that she left the small thing alive. She was ecstatic. She was ready to run back to her mentor with the brightest smile plastered on her face. ''Oh, yeah!'' She giggled lightly, and bent her head down to give a gentle snap of the rodent. Even with prey, the she cat was gentle. She was the benevolent type that hated violent. Any type of violence and pain.

Afterwards she picked up her prize, with her tail high, she trotted back to her mentor, and she dropped her prey at his paw, looking away bashfully.

Afterwards she picked up her prize, with her tail high, she trotted back to her mentor, and she dropped her prey at his paw, looking away bashfully.
Sproutwhisker smiled, seeing how focused she was into the lesson and he still felt proud towards his apprentice. “It’s alright, I understand that this means a lot to you.” He mentioned when she apologized for being too loud, but honestly, he wasn’t angry or frustrated with her, just wanted to offer future advice that will aid her in the near future. The black-furred tom watched her nod to him and then go off to proceed with the next step of the hunt. A gentle smile rested on the tom-cat’s face as he heaved himself to his paws and walked off to watch Noirepaw from a respectable distance as she went through with his instructions. He had faith in her and knew that she had the potential to become an honorable hunter like any other cat could. If he, once a mere kittypet, could become a warrior that knew almost everything about the clans and how they worked, could do it, he had no doubt in his mind that she could succeed in this lesson. His tail swished behind him as he scanned around for her with his icy blue-hued gaze, it took him awhile to spot her within the area, which was good, it meant she was doing well at keeping hidden - even with her darkened pelt against the green undergrowth of the forest. The warrior could see her low to the ground, barely visible from his view as she readied herself into her stance.

His ears then perked at the sound of her lunging forward into the fallen, scattered leaves and then show displeasure. He immediately knew that she had missed her chance and he pondered for a moment on his apprentice’s mistake. “She must’ve lunged too soon, should’ve gotten closer to her catch..” Sproutwhisker thought and then he saw her glance at him, to which he gave her a low nod, silently telling her to try again. He knew that she could do it, not everyone aced it on the first try. He could see how determined she was, how focused not to fail for him. His whiskers twitched as he continued to observe Noirepaw, seeing her slowly begin to try another time and a small smile slid onto his muzzle, seeing her and the determination in her actions. Sproutwhisker saw her leapt forward again and he immediately lifted his gaze, rather eager to see the outcome of her second attempt.

There was a moment of silence and he waited there in the grass for her return, resting on his haunches now, wondering to himself for a moment or two before his gaze flickered up from his paws to see Noirepaw return to him, a sense of pride and excitement in her stance, with her tail held high and a smile on her maw as the limp shrew was latched between her jaws. Sproutwhisker watched as she laid the piece of prey before him, looking away shyly, which made a warming smile come onto his face. The warrior extended forward and touched his nose to her forehead in a proud action. “Excellent work, Noirepaw.” The warrior praised her, knowing how much this must mean to her, “Your first catch ever on your own.” He remarked, looking down at her with a proud smile, “You never gave up and I could see how determined and focused you were, even when you didn’t catch it on your first lunge.” Sproutwhisker was truly proud of her. “I’m so proud of you, my apprentice - you have done well for today’s lesson. You deserve to bring this catch back to camp and show all of Riverclan that you are now an official hunter - feeding hungry mouths of your clan.” He said, making this a proud moment for her.

The black-furred male purred with a smile, “Once again, I am proud of you, Noirepaw, and to have you as my apprentice.” He knew that it was a lot to say, but this was the first time he had ever trained someone and seen such success in another. This was a wonderful moment for both Sproutwhisker and Noirepaw to share as teacher and student.

Even around cats that he knew Jasperpelt tended to be skittish. Perhaps it was just part of his nature. Or maybe it was something that he continued doing because he didn't want to seem odd. The former was more likely then the latter, as Jasperpelt just wasn't that type of a cat. "What about you? Why are you out here alone?" He asked. Some things were easier to say then others, and some things he forced to come more naturally so that others wouldn't think that he was weird. That was one thing that Jasperpelt didn't want, for other cats to think that he was strange. He already had enough problems most of the time without that adding to them. It was one of his worst fears to be ridiculed, but it seemed to happen sometimes anyways. The tom was honestly worried about his friend being out here by herself. Something could happen! Though, at least they weren't in WindClan or ThunderClan. There were rumors, and while he didn't partake in spreading them, everyone was aware of the tension. If they had been in one of the rival Clans, Jasperpelt would have been much more worried for his friend. It was part of his personality to worry. He always wanted to keep those he loved safe. And that included Lotusheart and her kits - she was his best friend, and her kits were practically like family to him.

Lotusheart gave him a friendly smile before she allowed her tongue to rasp over her fluffy chest momentarily to smooth out the wind blown fur. She then proceeded to let her emerald hues lift up towards the dark colored feline. When he asked her the question, she really didn't have an answer at first, she simply had to think about it for a moment. "I was just taking a break from camp. I suppose I should head back soon though. The kits will be wondering where I went. Though, maybe they won't. They're going to be apprentices in less than a moon!" She exclaimed, her heart aching at the thought of her babies leaving her side. They no longer needed her and they were doing things on their own now. Lotusheart's heart ached more at those thoughts than anything else. The joys of being a queen seemed short lived and soon enough, she'd be a normal warrior again. That was that. "They grow up so fast, it's crazy," she spoke, almost sadly. "Do you ever want kits, Jasperpelt?" she asked, her gaze seemed distanced as they stared at him.

All she had to do was put on a bright smile and say Thanks! make sure her smile is genuine, her teal orbs her shining, and her ears flick in a cute manner. As she had done now, as she took one good look at Cardinalflash. ''You're so sweet!'' She turned her body around, using her front two paws to waddle around. ''I didn't think you were a charmer.'' Her voice stayed upbeat. Because she was that type of cat. She meant every word she said, but Angelcloud was certainly not impressed. Though, she wasn't annoyed either. He wasn't the first cat that she met who had such intentions. She certainly figured he wouldn't be the last cat either. It was amusing to her, when toms would have the courage to flirt with another pretty face. Although, only for a while. A moon, perhaps? Until they were tailing behind the cat with the prettier features. The prettier eyes. The prettier color of pelts. Everything was the same old! You had an interest--you lose an interest. Right at the moment, the golden stripped feline simply continued to pad into the water. The gentleness the waves had created, the pretty still blueness it held. Her eyes looked down for a moment, completely unaware of the look Cardinalflash was giving her. With a slight droop of her ears, the she cat brought a paw up, splashing water near her face. Her nose twitched, and a brilliant smile appeared on her maw, causing her to look up at her company. Suddenly, she frowned. ''Is there something on me?'' She asked. Why was he staring at her in such a way? Did she have something on her fur?

Her ears flicked uncomfortably. Angelcloud never liked to be stared at. Who would? And, if she were to be stared at, she wanted them to be watching her for a show. She wanted to give them something to stare at. Whether it was doing tricks in the water, or flipping from the highest tree branches. Something reckless for them to stare at; talenting. Heavencloud would surely scold her for living so dangerously, and all Angelcloud could do was laugh. She turned her head to stare at the tom, smiling at him. She squinted her eyes, and when he suddenly leaped into the water, Angelcloud perked her ears back up in alert. ''Encore! Encore!'' She meowed. Ah, he did the move that they were all known for. Not many cats could perfect that, and it was quite dangerous to leave your head under water for so long. Angelcloud carefully paddled her way towards him, beaming.

''Great jump!'' She laughed. ''I bet you put on that show for all the ladies, though.'' She swatted a paw at him from under the water. She didn't know whether she was suppose to be impressed or insulted by his actions. It was seldom that Angelcloud would be conversing with another tom. Unless they were her good friends. And, her best friend Tawnyshade--she haven't seen him for a while. For moons, it had only been Heavencloud and her, making their way to the river for a swim, hunting to provide for the clan, or even kitsitting for a dear friend of theirs. More so, Heavencloud than she. Upon, hearing the tom's next words, Angelcloud rolled her eyes once more, then she flicked her ears, and splashed water at him again. ''I'm already taken!'' She swam around for a moment, her eyes closed. ''Nature claimed me. And, I think we're in a marvelous relationship together.'' Her voice sounded sweet; innocent type of purr. Angelcloud didn't think it was wrong for him to say something like that, but deep down it had annoyed her.

Flirts were alright...they really didn't phase Angelcloud much. At times she didn't even notice it was a pick up line, or a whistle. Heavencloud considered her to be a bit...well, what's the nice word for daft?...clueless, perhaps. Angelcloud was more into fun-loving toms. And, that's what he picked up from the tom in the water. His capabilities to have a good time. And, so far she was having a good time. Other things that caught her attention was the tall trees with plenty greenery leaves dazzling it all around. When the sun hits the water, bringing it to a pretty hue that was hard for Angelcloud to explain. When the sky hits that perfect coloring of orange, pink, and yellow. Her favorite time of day. When the sunsets, and the cool breeze tingling her fur--at times makes her cold, but other than that would be a wonder to have around. Nature was the only thing that really caught Angelcloud's attention.

Angelcloud swiftly tried to duck her head underwater as she saw the oncoming splash going towards her, though it hit her before she could even make her move. Her eyes had narrowed playfully, and she felt an oncoming water battle making its way known between them. Angelcloud was quite the competitive feline when it came to games. She would laugh, she would play around to the point she wanted to become the dominate one. ''Are you asking for war, C-flash?'' She tilted her head slightly, her teal gaze settled on him, and her paws kept her afloat in the water. Of course, she was talking about water war. Why would she ask for an actual battle? Those scared her. She was brave. She considered herself to be fearless, but every cat had their own runaways. And, violent wars was the thing Angelcloud avoided when she got the chance. ''Because I can give you war.'' She paddled her way towards him, narrowing her eyes before she went past him, and flicked water to aim at just the right spot. Everything was all fun and games with her. Why take the world so seriously? It was just a large play arena to her, and the world was her oyster. She was ready to open it, steal that pearl, and watch it in her care.

The golden spotted cat was ready to leave the river. She wanted to do something useful with her time instead of being by the water, watching as it rippled. Seeing her sister a few ways from her, talking to a tom. No doubt, who is a stranger. Angelcloud was actually making conversation. She seemed to be having a much better time than she was. Heavencloud debated whether she would leave her sister and go hunting. That was the only thing that kept her happy. Hunting. Well, that, or being with friends she had no problem showing her true colors. She rather be stuck in the nursery, chasing after scrambling kits, or even on patrol, aimlessly making sure no intruders made their way into Riverclan. Anything that kept Heavencloud away from the clear blue water.

The small she-cat sat on her haunches, in a delicate pose as her tail wrapped around her in a comfortable manner. Her paws were kept hidden, and her eyes stared distantly ahead as she watched the reddish orange tom jumped into the water. For a few moments, he didn't appear back up. This made Heavencloud's ears perked, but she didn't dare move a muscle. There was no way she would step in that water. Even for a possibly drowning cat. Wasn't Heavencloud close enough to say the cat if he were drowning?

Heavencloud could only watch with suspense upon the tom's reckless acts. He's acting like my sister. They're going to get themselves one day killed for stupidity. Upon, seeing that the tom was alright. Bringing his head back up, acting as if he completed the most dangerous task yet, Heavencloud looked away. The show was over, and she definitely did not enjoy it. Though, she heard another voice. More like a whisper really, and her head slightly titled and turned to look at the slate pelted tom. Was he talking to me? Did he say something to me? Heavencloud didn't know how to respond, or if he were talking to her. So, she looked away, losing her opportunity for small talk. She felt that it wasn't fair that Angelcloud got all the attention--all the fun, really. Maybe, it's because she puts herself out there.

Heavencloud gave frequent glances at the other tom beside her, but when he curled himself up, she figured he was preparing for a nap. So, she awkwardly shifted herself, trying to make little to no noise. She didn't want to disturb him, and she didn't want to continue watching the freaky water lovers play in that spiteful drowning hole. Her eyes watched the movements of the liquid, she heard the sounds of the ocean, which brought her into a soothing manner. It was weird that she hated the water, yet she loved the sound of it. In fact, the water put her to sleep faster than other techniques.

She let out an inaudible sigh, giving in to watching the two frolic in the water. It did look fun. It looked very fun, but Angelcloud considered her sister to be...well, what's the word?...not boring, but more so missed opportunist. Always living on the safe side, when fun was meant to be dangerous. Instead of getting a rile, she kept the lava flowing calmly. With Angelcloud, the lava would always be in twisted directions, hard to maintain, and get away.

Her ears turned to sudden noise, and she glanced once more back at the tom. So, he wasn't asleep? What was up with him? Was he bored as much as she was? Heavencloud had a hard time starting conversations. Especially if Angelcloud wasn't near her to help her out. Angelcloud was always the first to start the conversation...maybe things needed to change. Whenever she did try talking to another cat--initiating the conversation, she spoke in jumbled words, sometimes speaking more than she should be speaking. And, most times it didn't make sense! Giving her jaws a lick, the she cat gave one more glance at the slate colored tom before she turned her eyes back on the water. ''Couldn't sleep, huh?'' Was her first words. It wasn't so bad, but then she began to feel a knot in her stomach. Maybe, they weren't enough words. Maybe he needed more. What if he didn't hear her? So, she continued on, her words naturally hasty, and her voice shaky. Which only happened whenever she did talk to someone for the first time. ''I couldn't sleep either. I don't even want to be here. My sister brought me here, and I told her no, but she begged me to come, and now I'm here. I did take a nap though. It wasn't that long. I didn't think we would be here for that long, but we are, because my sister doesn't really care how I feel at the moment. Haha, siblings, am I right?'' Then, she closed her maw. Too much words. Didn't make sense. So, she curled her tail around her even tighter, and breathed in deep breaths.

If awkwardness had a definition. She would be the perfect specimen for that.

Noirepaw gingerly made her way towards her mentor, feeling a slight sadness well up in her at the fact that her scent may not be working. What if there were something wrong with her scenting? She didn't want to appear useless to the clan. And, she took in the words of her mentor. War was definitely scary, but what more could she had lived for? Personally, she felt that wars were inevitable. She had to fight to protect what was hers. If she had the power, the world would be in a balance of peacefulness and wars would never be in existence. But, since she was only an apprentice--a small one at that. Who would take her seriously? Perhaps, no one. Noirepaw lifted her head, putting her snout into the air. ''A shrew?'' She twitched her nose. Glancing quickly towards Sproutwhisker before she looked ahead of her. She could smell something faint. Probably was a shrew. Bending her head down to get a good angle, she stopped for a moment, her tail stood erect behind her, before she continued on. ''I'm getting something...'' her voice was soft, and she began to move in the direction of the shrew. She hoped she was going the right way. She didn't want to disappoint her mentor. That would only make her even more sad than she currently was at the moment. What apprentice or warrior wanted to be useless to their clan? She didn't want Russetstar to throw her into the outskirts. Though she highly doubted he would do such a thing. She continued to follow the path, the scent becoming a lot stronger. Her paws moved clumsily on the forest floor. All she wanted to do was impress her mentor. And, showing that she knew how to scent? That was definitely one of them. When she suddenly stopped at in the depth of the forest, she lifted her head, and closed her eyes. ''It was definitely here...one one point.'' She twitched her nose, and turned to her mentor. ''Do we catch it?'' She asked, her voice lowering, in case she did have to give chase.

"No, no... there's nothing on you. I'm just admiring your natural beauty, that's all. You have quite the gift with your lovely appearance, beautiful." His purr was endearing, that much could be said. But then again, Cardinalflash had always been an endearing tom. He was handsome. He was friendly. He was funny, sometimes... outgoing and had the word handsome already been mentioned? Anyways, Cardinalflash was the type of tom that he believed she cats should be lining themselves up to see. Wasn't it sad when a cat with such good looks was without a partner? A companion, not necessarily a mate... but a cat who would be there for him to "date" so to speak? Yes, that was what Cardinalflash was missing from his life. A special cat that he could hang around and perhaps Angelcloud was the perfect specimen. Pretty. Fun. And she would definitely go out with him.

Yep, Cardinalflash was certain that he could get the feline's attention. All he was going to have to do was make sure that he kept her attention. Nature claimed her? That was a funny thing to say. But, of course, the tom refrained from laughing. His head was soaked, and because of his thicker fur, some was hanging down in a way that made him look bedraggled. Yet his hues never lost their playful spark, and he was still a handsome cat - right? He had a good appearance. Surely Angelcloud couldn't deny that. Now, all he needed was for her to realize that she wanted to stay around him. Perhaps she would realize it after he left? Maybe what he needed was for her to realize that his companionship was more valuable then everything else. Although, that was a stretch. Ok, C-Flash. You totally got this. Pretty girl, handsome guy, it's the beginning of every love story in the world... he thought for a moment.

Did twolegs have love stories? Surely they did, because he had heard of twolegs having kits. "If nature claimed you, then I suppose I stand a chance here. Every relationship falls apart eventually... all I have to do is wait, right? That relationship doesn't stand a chance with me around... I mean, I'm C-Flash! No she cat in her right mind would turn a tom like me down. So think carefully, pretty Angel." Her name certainly suited her. Angelcloud. It was as though he were looking at an angel who had descended from StarClan just moments before. It's like StarClan sent her to entertain me for the day. Or the moon. Or for the next few moons, who knows? Perhaps she'll be sent back to StarClan with me. Perhaps she was only sent here for my entertainment purposes. Maybe she's the one that I'm supposed to hang around, hmm? Cardinalflash thought.

He was a hopeless romantic. He always had been. Always would be. "You from StarClan, Angelcloud?" He asked. Honestly, Cardinalflash was wondering why her name wasn't pretty angel. Though that would be a funny Clan name. Still, he would call her that. It was a nice name. He liked it. And, he was hoping that she would slowly get used to him and his quirkiness. Cardinalflash wasn't used to being rejected right away. Yet, it seemed that Angelcloud wasn't interested in the tom. But why not? Was there something wrong with him? Did she not find him appealing physically or personality wise? Or perhaps she was actually taken by a cat named Nature. Whoever would name a cat a stupid name like that would have to be crazy. And for a pretty girl like Angelcloud to be in a relationship with a cat named Nature? That was twice as crazy.

"Aww, look at you. Being all pretty and war-like... I like a competitive female. So take it as you see it, pretty Ang-" He was cut off as she splashed him, and he felt more water droplets sprinkle his already soaked fur. Oh, it's on. The tom thought as he jumped towards her, aiming to splash her as well. The tom was excited for their little game. Already he was having quite a bit of fun with the pretty striped feline. Yes, she was his dream companion. Pretty, fun, able to joke around, not too shy around him and not too fowards, pushing herself on him... a challenge, but not so much of one that Cardinalflash believed he would run out of time. Yes, she was perfect. He was confident that Angelcloud was his future companion. Which was just a little scary, because the feline had been searching for the right cat almost all his life. Now that he found a new she cat and possibly future "girlfriend", what was he supposed to do with her?

Jaywhisper had opened his maw to answer her first words, but it dropped open as she continued. He had marked the feline as the shy type, or a cat like him, not so much of one to go rambling on and on. And yet, lo and behold, here she was... talking as though there was no tomorrow. Well, Jaywhisper could appreciate that. He didn't mind that at all. And he certainly wasn't put off by it. For a moment, all Jaywhisper did was listen to her talk. Then, he finally opened his maw to answer her. "I love the river. It's a nice place. I've always found it easy to sleep here, although that was when certain companies were not present. Meaning my brother... Cardinalflash is a bit of a handful sometimes. And I'm certain you feel the same way about your sister. I don't believe I got her name, but she's quite pretty - probably the reason C-Flash seemed so drawn to her." Jaywhisper's voice was quiet.

Then again, it was always quiet. Because he was a silent cat. A quiet ambassador, pretty much all the time. Not that anyone really minded. Who cared about a quiet, intelligent, saying-what-he-meant cat? He did love the river. And he did believe that the other striped cat was pretty. But, Heavencloud was quite interesting. So, he would tell her that... right as soon as he stopped for a minute. That had been a lot of talking for him. And even he was surprised by what he had managed. For him, it was a monumental effort. For him, that was like delivering a speech within thirty seconds. Even though it had been a longer period of time, and it had hardly been a speech, Jaywhisper figured it the same way. Perhaps it was just a part of his personality. He had always been one to do that. Act that way. Not that anyone had really minded, after all... no one really payed attention to him.

"So, I don't believe I know your name. Or your sister's name, come to think of it. I'm Jaywhisper and, as I mentioned before, my brother - the one swimming in the water and making a fool of himself - is Cardinalflash. Or C-Flash. Cardinal. All sorts of cute little nicknames for him. None for me." Again, it was like delivering a speech for Jaywhisper. Although he wasn't sure how to make introductions shorter. He wasn't the type to say 'hi, I'm Jaywhisper! Nice to meet you' and be done with it. Although the words he spoke often made sense. He was glad of that, anyways. It was nice to be a cat who was known as someone who made sense. Jaywhisper had always wanted to be the type of tom that cats could sort of... understand, no matter what he was saying. And while he might not be exactly that, he figured that he came pretty close.

He wondered if the sturdy feline ever got flustered before this moment, but then he wondered if Spicepaw was even truly embarrassed right then. After all, the smile could just be a smile? But Quillpaw decided to please himself, and decided Spicey was embarrassed.

``Great!`` The multi-colored apprentice chirped, walking alongside the older tom. Quillpaw felt tingles in his pelt during the shared silence, which he strongly disliked. He never liked to leave himself alone with his mind - it was boring. And his brain worked better when he was talking, or doing something productive. But the silence helped him realize something. With a tone laced with both shock and sadness, Quillpaw announced, ``I don't have a favorite place in the territory.`` He looked very torn apart at this realization, his eyes narrowed sadly and his mouth curved downward in a frown.

Quillpaw grew up around toms, his father and his two brothers. He wasn't very educated on the identity of his biological mother, and his father was too distant to ever bring her up. His father, Frostedhawk, was a cold, distant, but loyal warrior. He genuinely loved his father, despite the tough-love. And his brothers he loved, as well. Mudpaw was the best sibling he could ever ask for, but Foampaw was a different story. Foampaw was similar to Frostedhawk personality-wise, but much more cold and distant, and arrogant. Often, Quillpaw would wonder if Foampaw even cared about him.

He came from a large family, but hadn't ever met anyone outside his nuclear kin. Quillpaw felt like a stranger in his family, as if he was just a small piece to an insanely-large puzzle. If he were missing from the puzzle, nobody would notice nor care because they wouldn't see the tiny blank space where he should fit. A majority of his immediate family were also distant, as explained before, which made it seem as if Quillpaw didn't even share a biological link with them. But he tried not to think about it too much.
Spicepaw's ears were perked as he listened for the sound of gentle, bubbling water. The sound that would lead him straight to one of his favorite places in the territory. Now, he may be afraid of water, but the russet-colored apprentice still appreciated the beauty of it. And this pool they were heading to was all beauty and no fear. He especially loved the way the sun set in it, casting it's brilliant rays across the crystal-clear surface. Too bad that it was sun high right now, but the pond would still be beautiful, with how clear and glassy it was. And the babbling stream that flowed into it, the sound was always a comfort to Spicepaw. He was kind of a contradiction there. He was afraid of water, but he was comforted by the sound of it. I guess that's just one of the perks of being a Riverclan cat, through and through.

At Quillpaw's realization, Spicepaw couldn't stand the tone of his voice. This cat was supposed to be happy and care-free, and Spicepaw was supposed to have a good time out here with him. And he would make sure of that. "Don't worry, I didn't have any favorite places when I was your age. You just have to find them as you grow older and explore more of the territory." Spicepaw hopes he had convinced the younger tom. Especially since his words were true.

As they continued walking, Spicepaw decided they could try and make small talk. "So, um... What type of family do you come from?" It was the only thing that popped into his head. He knew families could be a touchy subject, he'd been there, done that. But if Quillpaw was willing to talk about his family, then Spicepaw would do the same. "I come from a very large family." Ot was true. Spicepaw did have quite a large family. Just a lot of them had died. Especially his siblings. Who he could just call his sisters, since he really had no brothers. Something that Spicepaw didn't mind much.

Even more if the cat was from another clan, or a loner in this case. For some strange reason, it felt as though she would be more embarrassed in front of him, more than any other cat. Except for maybe Cottonfrost... No! This cat was here now. Not Adderfangs, not Cottonfrost. She was talking to this cat who's name she either didn't know or didn't remember.

Doesong looked at the reddish colored tom, waiting for his reply. She didn't dare move any closer, she was fine where she was. Sitting where she had been for a few seconds, waiting for his answer. She wasn't the best at waiting, she was rather impatient. However, it had only been one second, Doesong could stand that long.
"Doesong." Burn repeated her name quietly, feeling it on his tongue. A pretty name for a pretty she-cat. Burn usually would say that out loud, but with the backstory he'd given her, that wouldn't work. In her eyes, he was a poor heartbroken loner, who only wanted shelter. So getting her to love him was actually going to take some time. And more work than he was used to. Unlike Ambercrackle. The Skyclan she-cat that Burn had manipulated not too long ago had been one of his easiest victims. She was just so gullible and ready to fall in love. Young too. Burn supposed he would be seeing her again sometime soon. She'd probably forgive him for leaving her, accepting any excuse that he made up. She was probably one of the prettiest she-cats Burn had met. Aside from Mapleheart. We don't think about her remember? Burn had to remind himself about that.

So, his name.... What should he use this time? He'd used his regulate name, Burn, with Searwhisper, and then Flicker with Ambercrackle. He supposed that he'd have to pick a strong but malleable name for Doesong. "My name is Flame." Something simple and strong. Good choice Burn.

Flame..... the name suited him. His coloring of course looked like a flame. But it also looked like something burnt, oh, oh well. She wasn't sure if it suited his personality though. She didn't know that much about him, so maybe it side. You never know.
However, from what she could see, the name suited him.

A question popped into Doesong's head. However, she thought it would be rude to ask. It involved his past. Doesong knew for a fact, cats didn't like to talk about their past. Doesong hated it when cats nagged her about her past. Doesong still felt like she should be asking him the question. Even though the question was entirely meaningless. Nothing would happen if she didn't ask it.

Silence
After he had said his name there had been silence.
Doesong wanted to say something., she didn't have anything to say though. Besides her stupid question. Silence.. finally Doesong gave in. "Were there any other cats the rouge group chased off?" she cringed at her own words, she knew she wounded stupid.

"Less then a moon? Really?" Jasperpelt asked, surprise filling his voice. Less then a moon was a short amount of time, especially for a cat like Lotusheart who seemed to love her kits so much. Pretty soon they would be facing the various challenges of apprenticehood. Although, they would be fine. RiverClan was in no danger at the time and with the Evil Era over, this was a perfect time for the kits to learn how to hunt and fight. "Do... do I ever want kits? I mean, I - I guess I might, someday... but I'm not sure if I was cut out for raising kits." The tom remarked, wondering what had brought on her question. Although it sounded appropriate, after all... talking about kits was bound to bring on a question like that eventually. "What about you? Would you want... um, more kits?" He asked with a curious glance in her direction before he lowered his hues. This whole time he had been struggling to speak a full sentence with his yellow lanternlike hues staring directly into her leaflike ones.

I mentioned on my profile that I was starting over. A fresh start is best for me right now; I've created quite a few new characters, and they will all be on my site, but not all will be used in roleplay right away. it's likely I'll bring them in more gradually.
