MothWing stepped into the grass, she seemed upset about something. She have seemed to hear something and looked around, she saw a strange greenish-gray cat. He didn't seem much like a threat so she just looked away thinking the noise was the strange cat. She was confused on how the cat was a greenish color but she just ignored those thoughts and thought She was just being rude. Then.. she heard foot steps, she look back to the green cat and saw he was sitting right next to her. The Tom-cat smiled as he wagged his tail like a dog, the she-cat sighed and look into his bright light green eyes.. "Why hello, do you need something?" The she-cat questioned the Tom, "Oh! Well, I was just wanting to ask which clan you're in?" The she-cat stared into his eyes, getting more lost the more she looks into it, she very confused and concerned. "Oh.. I'm in windclan, which clan are you in?" The she-cat immediately regretted telling a strange cat her clan as she thought that he might just be another rouge.. "I'm in RiverClan! Oh! My name is MossPond, totally meant to ask you're name, sorry!" She took back everything she thought about him, he seemed like a sweet cat who doesn't want to do any harm. "I'm MothWing, I think I have to go, it's getting really dark, I'm sure my clan is worried about me." "Heh, mine too, well, wanna meet here again, tomorrow?" MothWing thought about it for a minute, as she trusted MossPond, she agreed.
"See you tomorrow!" MossPond meowed loudly while running back to his clan, MothWing has never trusted any one more than FishTail, her best friend.

The transgender tom had been traveling for a while just like old times. He had been gone away from his clan for a few moons now. He didn't know if he wanted to go back or not. His brother was probably wondering where he was. Redspeckle shook the thoughts from his head. No he was never going back. He was happy with his travels more than ever. He had all the freedom in the world.

SplitMouse, a Windclan cat has been walking past the birder slowly little by little, no one was there for her anyways other than her father. With a sigh she sat down by a tree she’d miss her father at times but what she had sone she’d done. She had left only to collect herself for a while, to be sure this is what she had wanted she had already explained herself to her father who agreed not to tell anyone thank the stars. She was near a farm house it seemed, she sat inside as it’s tarted to rain.

Default Re: Windswept Plains

Leaving Eldersky alone with the kits made Fernpaw antsy, but he knew it needed to be done. She wouldn't be going far after giving birth so soon, and they needed food .. Mostly for her.

There was a chill in the air that made him shiver as he trudged through the snow, unsure of where to begin. Briefly he had gone hunting with Owltalon, a lifetime ago, but that was rabbits in green-leaf and this ....

Well, they weren't in WindClan anymore. He didn't know where he was, only that it was a snowy field with little in sight. Fernpaw sighed softly to himself, watching the breath cloud dissipate before his eyes. It was a blessing in disguise when the flutter of wings caught his attention. A bird had landed nearby, chosing a nearly melted patch of snow to peck at the ground. His mouth watered at the sight - this was his chance! And though he hadn't a clue on what to do, it couldn't be too different from rabbits, right? (Wrong.)

Fernpaw lowered himself into a crouch, feeling clumsy from the change in position, and did his best to creep toward the bird. His steps were too heavy, the snow too brittle beneath his paws as it crunched with nearly every movement. Within a heartbeat the bird was launching itself back into the air, and in his desperation Fernpaw lurched forward in pursuit.

He hit the ground with a thud, birdless, and made a few eager swipes at the air as if to knock it from the sky. But the bird was long gone, and he was alone with only a loose feather his prize. "Oh, shoot!"

What was he going to do now??

~ WOLFFANG ~

Wolffang wandered across the open moor, his bright yellow gaze sweeping across the fresh covering of snow that had fallen. His large paws felt like they would fall off - actually, they were quite numb, which was probably what caused the feeling. His ears and nose were cold, too. The chill did tease his fur, but it was thick and fluffed out, driving away the cold. Leaf-bare was here, his first as a deputy. How long had he been deputy, anyway? It felt like just a heartbeat and seasons at the same time. Will Twilightstar kick me out of the position after my outburst? Wolffang felt every one of his bulging muscles tense at the thought, and his eyes narrowed. The glare of the sun on the snow was something that would take a while to get used to. She can't. Not yet. I've behaved inappropriately, but developed as well. Not now. I have to prove to WindClan that I'm a cat worth being deputy. And I have to prove that I'm a good warrior of WindClan.

From some of the looks he had gotten, he knew that plenty of cats had heard his outburst in the tunnels. Which wasn't good. It hadn't been good for him to leave it inside of him festering like that, but it also hadn't been good to let it out like that. His mind flashed to Leopardsong and he winced. She's always listened to me, and yet I kept on brushing her off. The tom took in a deep breath, the frigid air icing his lungs. I'm better than this. I have to be better than this. Leopardsong was a good friend, even if he disagreed with some things about her - when had he ever seen her in a fight? - but she was valuable, and loyal, and stuck by him even when he'd treated her like dirt. Perhaps talking to her would help. It had before. Right now, Wolffang just had to focus on moving forward from the whole ordeal, having developed and understood without going into a crazed frenzy like he had for those past moons.

Wolffang kept on walking, but that's when he caught a flash of something. He turned his head. It was a young cat with brown tabby fur. His whole body tensed. Is there an invader? Before he knew it, his long, sharp claws had unsheathed, being frozen by the powdery white stuff beneath him. Wait. The tom froze, his eyes widening with shock. It can't be. Was that... Fernpaw? But... how? The apprentice had died! Wolffang had seen his body, tail-less, stripped of its pelt, with only the faintest tufts of fur and traces of scent to tell that it was him. How was he alive? His mind flashed back to a memory, of cats who could be sent back by StarClan. Had Fernpaw been sent back?

The WindClan deputy walked closer to him, his eyes wide. Quickly, he blinked it away and shook out his pelt. He had to be more serious than this. But... "Fernpaw?" he meowed. "Is that you?" The memory of the apprentice giving him a bird egg flashed in his mind. He hadn't deserved to die. None of the cats slaughtered on that patrol did. Maybe StarClan did exist after all.

The loss of the bird was quickly overtaken by the sensation of fear. Fernpaw froze, shocked by the familiar sound of Wolffang's voice, rooted into place by a voice he hadn't heard in an eternity.

(he wasn't ready he wasnt ready)

(where would he even begin?)

Fernpaw forced himself to swallow, mouth dry as he finally, eons after registering Wolffang, pulled himself together enough to face his Clan's deputy.

Wolffang. Who reminded him of Owltalon; of stability and home. (and he was undeserving, he'd been so bad, why now--) Insecurity made his pelt itch, made him drop his gaze from Wolffang, he was ashamed and it consumed him like fire. "oh," it was an echo of himself, a sound of surprise that escaped him. "Wolf..." the name felt alien, so strange after so long.

There was a tightness in his throat, a haziness to his eyes. He felt overwhelmed. (he wasn't ready) "Wolffang.." it was almost like a plea, a crack in his voice as he sank in submission near Wolffang's paws. His body was shaking in his sobs, unable to contain the dam further. "i'm sorry, i'm sorry--" he was sorry, he had failed. "i didn't..." he didn't mean for it to happen, "i didn't know going over there was bad, we stopped at the change in markers, i didn't.."

flash of fangs, glint of crimson claws in a dying light. choked breaths, a gasp for air. pain. all his fault. "i didn't want anyone to die."

~ WOLFFANG ~

Wolffang could scent the fear on Fernpaw. It was bitter, but he didn't coil his lip to drive it out. The brown tabby apprentice looked terrified, frozen, his green eyes staring at Wolffang as though he was scared of him. Why would he be scared? Does he think... I'll get mad at him? Wolffang wasn't particularly fond of cats who left their Clans. But Fernpaw was a whole different matter. He had been brutally killed, yet StarClan had sent him back. Not back to WindClan, but somewhere. Had he done something else to get in trouble? Wolffang just wanted to bring the apprentice home, to WindClan, where he belonged. Then Fernpaw dropped his gaze, as though he were a kit being scolded. What's wrong? The deputy genuinely felt confused.

That was when Fernpaw seemed to completely break down, shaking and sobbing, his voice so tight that it cracked. Wolffang's gaze followed the tabby as he sunk further down to the ground, listening to the words that escaped his mouth. Sorry? What was he sorry for? He hadn't done anything wrong. As Wolffang listened to the other tom's description, he understood... mostly, at least. Is he describing his death? Why blame himself for that? It wasn't his fault ShadowClan had done something so awful. New markers... why does it sound like he's referring to ShadowClan's new markers? Had something else happened that Wolffang didn't know about? Now wasn't the time. It was clear that Fernpaw had to go home.

Wolffang wasn't good at this "comforting" stuff, but he bent down, fixing his bright yellow gaze on Fernpaw. "Listen to me." His normally firm tone now had dropped down somewhat in an attempt to be quieter and more comforting. "I don't know if you're describing the ShadowClan attack in which... That Grimhound led, or if it's something else. But you're just an apprentice. Whatever happened, it isn't your fault. As horrible as what happened was, StarClan sent you back, and that's what matters. You should come home. I can take you to Twilightstar. I know that she'll take you back in. You've done nothing wrong." Okay, so he wasn't sure if the apprentice was guilty of something else, but he decided not to bring that up. That would most likely make the situation worse.

Default Re: Windswept Plains

It was different, being around someone who Knew and Eldersky didnt and he didnt know how to begin telling her-- he wasnt ready for any of this, he didn't know how Wolffang could be so calm when all he could see was blood spilling onto the ground--

Wolffang's voice broke him more, his body contorting in the sob that escaped him. It was the effort of compassion that struck him more than anything, sympathy that fundamentally he felt undeserving of; if this wasn't his fault, why did it happen? Had he not made the decision to head that way, it wouldn't have. StarClan certainty had no place in this, he didn't even go there-- something he couldn't fathom voicing. (where did he go, if not there?) Would Wolffang think less of him if he knew? Despite Wolffang's attempts to be soothing, Fernpaw's mind was going to the worst of things. Healing from this would take more than just time, and until now he hadn't had much of an opportunity to face the process. Returning home -- to WindClan, was a start.

"I..." can't, because as much as he wanted to climb aboard Wolffang and let him whisk him away to safety, he couldn't leave his sister behind. ".. Eldersky is close, she had kits.. I don't know if she can travel far, I was trying to get her food.." he was bad at hunting, he was bad at a lot of things. There were too many things for him to be ashamed about in this moment, from his inexperience to how much of a mess he was. He should know better. Eldersky said as much. He should, he didn't.

By this point though, Fernpaw had begun to settle down - for now. Being worked up was draining, and coming out of it left him exhausted. He sniffled as he looked up at Wolffang. "Is -" no, "--can we get her? I don't want to lose her again.." Through the seasons she evaded him, absent in the chaos of her own reality and life. This was their chance to be reunited at Home, a family once more, that ideally would never split again.

Perhaps it was willful thinking, but Fernpaw just wanted something good to come out of all the misery of his death and revival.

~ WOLFFANG ~

Was he helping or hurting? Wolffang had literally no idea. Perhaps all this drama had made him softer instead of more hardened, because he felt like he'd been making more decisions and doing more things that his old self would've glared at him for. But he couldn't help feeling a slight soft spot for Fernpaw, even if he was very confused as to what was going on. Wolffang saw that the brown tabby just kept on crying, but eventually he began to speak. Eldersky? He knew who she was, of course, but it felt like he hadn't heard that name in moons. It sounded like she and Fernpaw were close. Maybe they were related in some way - he hadn't been keeping track of this stuff. Should I go looking for Eldersky? WindClan needed him, but if they could bring Eldersky and her kits home, then WindClan would have more kits. Also, he had a feeling that Fernpaw might not come home if they left Eldersky.

My Clan needs me more than ever. But it won't be the end of the world. Wolffang sighed. Great StarClan, he hoped he was doing the right thing. Think of the good of the Clan. His bright yellow gaze fell on Fernpaw. And of the cats around you. He didn't want to make someone else upset because of a decision he made. So, they'd go and find Eldersky and her kits, get her some prey or something, and then hope that it all worked out. "Fine," he meowed. "We'll go and look for Eldersky, and her kits. Both of you will be able to talk to Twilightstar after this and rejoin WindClan. Where is she?" Wolffang straightened upward, his gaze fixed on Fernpaw. The poor tom. He'd gone through a lot. We all have. The encroaching thought was there, though - was he being too soft?

No, he told himself firmly. It's not like Eldersky's dead. She's out somewhere, with kits, and Fernpaw knows where she is. WindClan will be able to grow stronger with more members and fresh kits. Besides... He continued to look at Fernpaw. I don't want to make Fernpaw feel worse. I hope things work out for him.
