If she were to have another relationship end in heartbreak, Jasperpelt wasn't sure quite how she would deal with it. Or what he would do. If a tom were to leave her, like purposely, well... there was definitely something he would be doing about that. It was in his nature to be protective. Not assertive, so... a fight between him and someone else would be something to see. It would definitely be interesting, seeing how this would play out in the future. Jasperpelt's lantern-like hues glanced down at the ground and he attempted making eye contact for just a little longer this time. It was almost as though he were a shy middleschool or highschool boy trying to make eye contact with his crush... close to impossible, or not for very long at all. "So, um... met any interesting cats lately?" He asked in an attempt to keep the conversation going.

Lotusheart gave her friend a warm smile. She didn't take note of the awkward tone in his voice, but instead listened to the words. She appreciated the fact at least someone thought she was a good mother. She didn't feel that appreciation whenever Stormblaze came to visit. The grand-father to her kits was rather tense and unwelcoming. Well, at least he appeared unwelcoming. When he spoke, it was like he demanded some type of respect immediately and it really bothered Lotusheart. In her mind, he should've been around for the kits too and his dead son before Fogstep died. Once Fogstep died, it was like the kits were his only link to the son he seemed to ignore. It was no use trying to drive him away though. It would make Lotusheart look bad and she couldn't help but pity the old tom. Jasperpelt's question made her think about something else. Recently? No. She hadn't really met anyone new. She didn't have time nor was she really willing to. Sure, if they approached her, she'd be glad to make a conversation, but she wasn't the type to just wander up to another feline unless her motherly instincts kicked in. So, Lotusheart shook her head. "No, no one new. The same-old same-old. What about you?" she asked in return.

Jasperpelt wasn't really the type to wander up to another cat either, but... there were times when he thought they needed help. Or they came up to him. Or, in the case of Shellfeather, it was an accidental meeting. He hadn't meant to run into the she cat. But, he was glad he could have been of some consolation to her... that was always a bonus in Jasperpelt's eyes. "I've met a few cats. The occasional... run-in, but nothing much." His yellow hues remained fixated on the ground, tail twitching lightly as he thought for a moment. Lotusheart's friendly, warm voice always managed to give him an extra bit of confidence. Besides the fact that she was his best friend, which he felt very lucky for... for some reason, it seemed he was a better friend to she cats then toms. Why? Did they view him as competition? Did they just not like him? Think he wasn't the type to be a "real tom," whatever that meant? In any case, he had found himself meeting quite a few cats over the past few moons. Since Russetstar had become leader, it seemed more cats were at ease. More eager to make friends... or more unwilling, he had met both types. "I-I should introduce you to some of them, I... I think you guys would get along really well," He mewed, suddenly excited at the prospect of his newer friends meeting his old one. She had been his first friend - and would always be his best friend.

A question popped into Doesong's head. However, she thought it would be rude to ask. It involved his past. Doesong knew for a fact, cats didn't like to talk about their past. Doesong hated it when cats nagged her about her past. Doesong still felt like she should be asking him the question. Even though the question was entirely meaningless. Nothing would happen if she didn't ask it.
Silence
After he had said his name there had been silence.
Doesong wanted to say something., she didn't have anything to say though. Besides her stupid question. Silence.. finally Doesong gave in. "Were there any other cats the rouge group chased off?" she cringed at her own words, she knew she wounded stupid.

Burn's ears perked up slightly in surprise. Well that was unexpected... Better not try to include more cats than you already have. Burn met Doesong's eyes, making his own flood with a subtle emotion of loneliness. "No, no other cats. Just... Me." Burn bowed his head once more, sadness thickening his voice, as he "thought" about the betrayal of his mate. "If my mate hadn't betrayed me, maybe I would still have her, but I'm completely... Alone." Burn let a few more tears drop from his eyes, watching them spatter on the ground. Like drops of blood.
Blood. Frost. Claws slicing. Green eyes flaring with hatred and anger. Burn's mind was flooded with memories, emotions, and his eyes opened wide. The Tim quickly got ahold of himself, thankful that he was looking down. That was in the past Burn. You shouldn't care. He shifted his paws a little, his ears flattening farther on his head. About any of them. You're not who you once were.
Burn looked back up at Doesong, letting a bittersweet smile on his face. "But at least now I see that all cats in this world aren't mean and cruel, right?" Let's play along with an innocent lover additude, shall we?

His tone had gone from excited and cheerful to cheerfully threatening as he spoke the final sentence. He had attempted to be as threatening as possible - which wasn't very threatening - but he ended up giggling.
He didn't remember the names of Spicepaw's kin, or who he was related to. Quillpaw had forgotten, even though it's only been a few minutes since Spicey told him. He jumped happily, his paws scraping up a couple clumps of earth. Family! He loved family! ``Oh yeah! My family is small, unless you count everyone like cousins and aunts! Then it becomes pretty big! There's my father, Frostedhawk. And my two brothers, Foampaw and Mudpaw!`` He didn't mention his mother, because he didn't want to think about her much. Frostedhawk had never brought up his mother, and he had never asked. Yet it did bother him some, unless he didn't think about it - it bothered him when he thought about it. Strange how Quillpaw came from a family of males, and Spicepaw came from a family of females. He giggled softly at this thought.

"Your territory huh? I think that it's me whose been an apprentice longer!" Spicepaw growled playfully, flicking Quillpaw with his tail. Spicepaw actually hadn't been around Riverclan territory that much, due to leaving as a young apprentice, but he had gotten to know many different territories when traveling back to Riverclan with his mother. He especially remembered the Kittypet house, and the sweet young Kittypet whom had helped his mother get better. Well really, it was her twolegs who helped Shellfeather recover, but Pie, the Kittypet, had convinced her housefolk, as she had called them, to let the two wildcats stay. Spicepaw hadn't enjoyed their stay in the Twoleg house itself, but he had enjoyed Pie's company. And he missed her dearly. She was one of the first friends he had had. Actually, she was the first.
And Quillpaw reminded Spicepaw of Pie. A happy-go-lucky little cat that seemed to have no worries in the world and saw only sunshine and rainbows. Maybe that's why Spicepaw enjoyed Quill's company so much.
As Spicepaw listened to Quillpaw speak, he let out a little sigh. His family sounded safe, complete, and happy. Except for his mother. But Spicepaw decided not to ask about that. He knew that usually when cats don't mention things the first time it usually means they'd rather not talk about it. And Spicepaw respected that, and expected to be respected back. He hated probing cats. They always got on his nerves, and then he was usually punished for lashing out. But the russet tom couldn't help his temper. It was just a part of him. Spicepaw's ears perked as Quillpaw's giggle reached them. He gave the younger apprentice a skeptical but amused look, cocking his head slightly. "What are you laughing about?"

He clearly had found her question surprising. She knew he would. His ears had perked up slightly in surprise. She wasn't stupid. Though she knew her question was stupid as well as surprising. She hadn't wanted to ask a stupid question, she just had. She wished she hadn't. Doesong knew she could have thought of something better. Maybe something less surprising as well as less stupid.
Doesong nodded, smiling back as he told her all cats in the world weren't mean and cruel. She knew he was talking about her. It made her feel strangely happy he was complementing her. It eased her worry. "No, a lot of them are nice, actually." she said, detecting a hint of a purr in her voice. She bit held back a sigh. Doesong couldn't figure out why there had been a purr in her voice. She was only letting this cat stay on Riverclan territory for a while.
Just a while. That was all she was doing.

Jasperpelt hated it when any cat cried. But especially a she cat. And Shellfeather seemed so innocent and pure, it was difficult for him to think about her being sad. Although he had just met her. Manipulation was, unfortunately, common - and Jasperpelt was being careful to look out for comments that sounded as though she were trying to trick him. So far? Nothing. It seemed like she was truly sad. That was why he had tried the thing with the flowers, changing the subject, figuring out something to say that would be... easy to start up a conversation with.
He had thought it would be a good idea. Some sort of subject matter to try and make her feel better, but... from the warning signs he could almost see gathering... he knew that he had made a mistake. Why couldn't he say something comforting and cool right then? Try and make her stop. Just feel better. Jasperpelt didn't often cry in front of others, because he knew that he wasn't supposed to... he was supposed to stop them from crying. And he hated it when other cats cried.
Uh oh. He thought as she began to speak, swallowing as he saw the tears beginning to pool in her blue eyes. This was bad. Very bad. He had started up a conversation, and now he had failed. "Water lilies? Those... those are p-pretty, huh? I-I've always liked roses, heh... umm... how about y-you?" The warrior asked, shifting his weight a little and trying to figure out a new subject for them to talk about. Something that hopefully wouldn't make her cry. Maybe... maybe something about prey, or colors, or time of day... he would just get to know her, that would be a good idea! The tom kept his tail curled around her, staying there so that she could have some form of comfort while he thought about things to say. Words were not a strong point for him. He was always stumbling over them, having to figure out what to say in order to comfort others - since he hated seeing them cry.
"Um, uh... what's y-your favorite color? An- and i-if you could be deputy, l-leader or medicine cat, which one would you be?" He asked, speaking as quickly as he could. At the same time, he was staying pressed against her in order to offer the physical comfort that seemed to have been working so far. And thankfully, Jasperpelt didn't mind it. Not at all. Eye contact was hard, speaking was hard... but actions always spoke louder then words.
|
Shellfeather took more deep breaths, trying to focus her mind on something good, something that still brought happiness to her life. Something that was only hers. Because everything that she had shared with Russetstar was a painful reminder of her loss. Even her kits, though she loved them dearly, were a reminder of him. They all looked so much like their father. Except for Applethorn. She was one of Shell's only kits that looked like her. Other than her dead kit, Stormkit. Stop thinking of your kits! Shellfeather scolded herself after realizing she was going to start crying hard once again. She was a selfless cat, but right now, the pale-furred warrior knew this was a time to be selfish, to make herself feel better. She was the one who needed comfort. And Jasperpelt was giving that to her.
Jasperpelt. Shellfeather looked up at the dark-furred tom, who want looking at her, but she could feel his strength, his comfort, his want to make her feel better. To make her stop crying. Shellfeather ran a law over her face, wiping up the tears. Jasperpelt was here for her right now, and she knew he was trying so hard to make her feel better. And she would. She would be strong, because she felt in her heart that he truly just want e her to be happy. This cat she barely knew, giving her comfort without a question about why she was crying. This cat, giving her the strength she needed.
Shellfeather pulled back a little, placing her for head on his chest and looking down at her paws. She wasn't sure if this was right for her to be snuggled up to him, but she still needed to use his strength to hold up herself. With more strength in her voice, Shellfeather answered his questions, simple little questions that you would ask in apprentice age when trying to get to know a fellow apprentice. "My favorite color is yellow. Like the yellow of the sun's reflection on the water." She thought about his second question, truly pondering it in a depth and meaning. "I'd want to be a medicine cat, because they help EVERYONE in the clan. And that's what I try to do, is help everyone." Shellfeather flattened her ears a little, a bittersweet smile coming across her face.

Re: RiverClan Territory
Padding out into the territory, the grey tom looked back at his friend. They needed to figure something out. What if his feelings changed? What if her feelings changed? What if... what if something happened to one of them? Of course, thinking like that wasn't giving Thunderstorm much help, but right now? He couldn't help it. He was scared that something would happen with them and their newfound relationship would be over. Or worse, their friendship... he couldn't stand the thought of that. No, Tawnyflight was his best friend and she would always be his best friend. Right? Right. There was too much at stake here to let it fade away, and so Thunderstorm made up his mind right then and there to do the best he could in order to make Tawnyflight really, truly happy. She seemed happy enough now, and she was acting happy enough... right? Surely nothing could be wrong.
Surely he hadn't done anything to hurt her, or to make her angry in the past few moments that it had taken to walk out from the territory. Okay, stop. Regroup. Breathe. Look at her! She's... happy. You're happy. Everyone's fine, so quit acting like it's the end of the world when you get a single look. The tom thought, taking a deep breath. Tawnyflight was there beside him, and she wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. Not if he had anything to say about it, anyways. "Where would you like to go? Anywhere's fine with me." He mewed, quickly adding on the last part of his sentence before she asked him. And anywhere was fine with him. He could swim, fly, go a hundred miles... just as long as she was with him the entire time. Right now, Tawnyflight was giving him the strength that he needed and it felt wonderful. Right now, he felt like he could do anything. As long as I'm with you.

|
A small expression of surprise crossed the dark tom's face when Shellfeather leaned into him, snuggled up next to him, yet he still didn't move. If this was what she needed to help herself? This was what Jasperpelt was going to do. And yes, he didn't like seeing other cats crying. Even from a young age it had made him feel uncomfortable. But, she seemed like she was going to be okay. She had stopped crying. And Jasperpelt was glad of it. His tail stayed wrapped around her, even in this slightly strange position. He wasn't quite sure whether he liked having someone he didn't know so close, but... then again, what was the problem with it? She needed help. Perhaps StarClan had sent him her way on purpose, just to make sure that nothing happened. He'd seen bad things happen to cats in this state. And they could easily be taken advantage of. Jasperpelt was glad he wasn't someone manipulative and cruel.
Otherwise, this would be a different story entirely. He could see Shellfeather getting taken advantage of. She just seemed like one of those types of cats who was sweet, and innocent, and the world loved her... who wouldn't like a cat like Shellfeather? He assumed that, most of the time, she was a sweet and lovely character. That was who she seemed to be, anyways. And while Jasperpelt was often on high alert, scared that he might get taken advantage of, he couldn't see her taking advantage of him at all. Besides, she was sad... and even if something did happen, he wouldn't regret trying to cheer her up. Jasperpelt didn't really think of himself as 'selfless,' more of... just someone trying to make a difference to different cats in the Clan. Trying to make the world a little bit of a better place every day. Although that was proving to be harder then he had ever imagined... and making a difference, at least that had come true.
Yes, Jasperpelt had never seen himself as being the type of cat to go around and try to make others feel better. After all, he was introverted and awkward... anxious, but he did have a caring and loving nature. He worried about those he cared for. And so far, no one had given him a reason to lie. That didn't make him a model cat, of course. Jasperpelt had his secrets, and so far no one had asked about them - giving him no reason to even want to lie. Though if it came down to it, he supposed he would. To save a life. Even to save his own life, which might sound selfish when it was phrased that way, but Jasperpelt wasn't really thinking about dying quite yet. He was still pretty young, after all. The dark tom listened to what Shellfeather was saying, thinking about what she said as she spoke. Yellow. Trying to picture the color as she had described it, he realized why it would be her favorite.
That certainly was a beautiful color. One that could easily be distinguished. And, at her comment about being medicine cat, he nodded. "Y-yellow's a pretty color... an-and, um, you s-seem like you w-would make a good medicine... medicine cat. I - I might not know you very well, but... I th-think... I would like to." He was being honest. Shellfeather seemed like the type of cat that you would want as a best friend. So what had happened? Why was she out here crying? He wasn't going to ask, knowing that was probably a bad idea, and he didn't want to make her cry again. His goal here was to make her feel safe, right? Safe and... happy. Hopefully both of those things were true at the moment. Jasperpelt wanted to make sure that by the time he left, Shellfeather felt like he cared. Heck, even right now he hoped she knew that. Because he did. He cared very much.

"Haha." Willowheart mewed grumpily, although she flicked his ear with her wet tail happily. "So, when the fish come back after their uh, scare," she licked her chest fur in embarrasment. "We can hunt." She watched the water carefully, shifting so her shadow wouldn't fall on the water. Eventually the fish came swimming back and waited for a fat one to come by. After a few moments, she saw a plump silver fish swimming through the water and she dipped her paw in the water, claws unsheathed. A few moments later, she came out with the fish hanging from her claws, and she flicked it on a rock, killing it with a quick bite. "Let's see if you can hunt after all those moons in the camp."

Re: RiverClan Territory
A small dusky-brown she-cat entered sight. Her blue eyes wide with curiosity. "Hello?" She whispered. I shouldn't be here, She thought. She sniffed the air, other cats must be here, She said to herself. The she-cat turned herself around. Standing up she began to skid away. But she stopped, I need to find a home. She decided to shelter in a bush. First thing tomorrow, She whispered, Find a home.
