Paleheart yawned as she padded into the clearing after a long night hunting; she was exhausted. She dropped the prey into the fresh kill pile and went to the warriors den, but stopped when she saw a cat sitting by the entrance.

It had been a half moon since he was named deputy. Blazingstorm had been so busy with the new responsibilities and the fact that it seemed as though every cat in the clan wanted to talk to him now. He had meant almost nothing to them before it and it almost irritated him now that everyone was on his tail about something. At the same time, the ginger warrior was proud to have their loyalty and even the chance to be their deputy. On top of all this, Blazingstorm had taken it upon himself to help his best friend rear her kits. They were growing quickly and Blazingstorm enjoyed being around them, but they remained friends and he didn't allow the kits to refer to him as a father, just a fatherly figure.
He knew very well that he'd adjust as well as they would in time.

Speaking of cats, he hadn't seen a particular feline in a while. They last time they spoke, it had ended in a snow fight. The memory warmed his heart. Windclan still had a chance if cats could still find it in their hearts to joke around with him. It wasn't everyday a cat would. Blazingstorm had always been one to keep things light-hearted and innocent.... well mostly innocent.

As his paws led him across camp, a familiar pelt caught his attention and his fluffy tail rose with delight. Approaching the warrior, he didn't bother remaining silent. "Galespring!" he called, closing the distance between them, although a thought made his paw steps falter. His pace slowed slightly. Will she treat me different too? Oh how he hoped now, but he couldn't blame her if she did. She wouldn't be the first cat to. Don't think like that! We're friends, remember? he silently scolded himself, keeping his golden hues bright and warm.

Life had been... quite busy for Galespring, ever since business began functioning as usual again in Windclan. She'd been focusing on her warrior duties as much as possible nowadays, and not a day passed by where she didn't think about life beforehand, before the second recorded dark era had struck. Riverclan has it's own new leader and deputy, she'd heard- and her own clan had appointed a deputy itself, with that cat being somebody who she definitely called a friend. Blazingstorm, a ginger cat who was so close to the code that his honor seemed like it would go on forever, just like the fire he was named after.

"We're friends, after all- and friends forgive each other, don't they?"

They hadn't talked much after that, and it wasn't really the same after their last meeting- everything just seemed more bland to her, as if it was just the same old thing, over and over again, a daily routine which sucked almost all the joy out of life. She was bored, so to say, and it was a drag to patrol every day, never doing anything... exciting, really. So when she saw her friend call out to her, it piqued her interest- less that he was the deputy, and more that it was a familiar face. "Hey- I never got to congratulate you on the position face-to-face, did I? Well, congrats, fur-brain." Galespring smiled, nudging the tom playfully.

It fought like a rogue, trying to bite my throat! I managed to claw its face and run away, but, Stormtail pause, "it gave me this scar!" Her tail indicated to the long slash on her side. "Anyway let's continue the story,
I ran, as fast I could, I was nearly free, when.... The shadowy cat grabbed my leg! I kicked it of and got into the light! It didn't like the light so it retreated... But no one believes me. Stormtail finished the story, "it's true!"

"Ooh! Do you reckon it's still there? Why did it have-" GleamKit paused, she wasn't sure how to say this word "why did it have...Teders?"

Stormtail smiled, "Ten-drils, I think it might still be in there, but it can't get onto the surface, as for the tendrils, I don't know. There are evil dark shadowy cats that look like that, but there safely trapped in the dark forest."

(My headcannon is that because the clans believed so much in the dark forest, some were able to escape, but when skyclan came back they were pushed back.)

(That's awesome thanks for telling me that cause I have a plot to do with StarClan and the dark forest so it's great that you mentioned that to them when they're so young)

Stormtail looked at the kits sternly. "Don't, the dark forest is inaccessible, it's where evil dead cats lie, and the tunnels are dangerous. I was only in there because I fell down. I've heard some rumours about being able to reach the dark forest in your dreams... But it's only rumours."

Rainkit wasn't too quick to trust that these intruders would spare them but he did know that he would do all the he could to protect his friend, even if the chances of a kit taking on a full grown warrior were beyond slim. She seemed to look more comforted at the words, and the tom didn't stare to analyze her further. He rose to his paws quickly, "Yes, the spying." His hues sparkled in mischief and excitement, "Where to?" The battling in the distance seemed to be dying down so he was eager to take a look, but he had to see what Heartkit wanted to do first. The tom didn't seem to be hiding his wonder in the slightest as he shifted on each paw in excited bounces.

"Some change is good, Rainkit, but-but this? This can't be good change." Heartkit mewed, a stubborn half gleam entering her blue hues. She hated change, good or bad. She wanted things to stay the same forever, although...when the time would come, she was sure she would be glad of her apprentice ceremony. Although it was the dreaded seven letter word, a word that she almost feared. She glanced over at her friend. She didn't understand how he couldn't believe in StarClan. Although, after everything that had happened...Singenight had actually gone as far as to outlaw their ancestors! But...but why? Why would someone out- outlaw StarClan? She thought, and the only explanation she could seem to get was that they were evil. No cat in their right mind would just take over and then decide that StarClan was bad, they must be outlawed unless they were evil. However, he had brought a good deal of strength to WindClan...strength they had needed. But, but...killing another cat to-to get that strength? It doesn't make sense! She thought with an angry lash of her tail, before realizing that Rainkit was speaking to her.


"Hm? Oh, oh yes...I had almost forgot that I brought that up. Sorry, umm...oh! We could spy on...those cats over there! See, they're whispering to each other! That's suspicious!" Heartkit squeaked, a smile on her maw as she glanced back at her friend. She turned her blue hues back on the two cats, watching them closely, crouching down to the ground as best she could without any training. It was a messy crouch and not necessarily the most perfect one, but at least she was trying hard enough. "Now follow me," She whispered. It was surprising the two didn't turn around, with Heartkit's excited, eager movements. At least she wasn't making any noise, that was the one good thing about it.

"Do you have any other stories?" ShineKit started eating the rabbit. "We need to see if the rumours are true!" GleamKit suggested confidently.

"No you don't, the dark forest, if it exists, is filled with evil cats, who won't think twice about killing you." Stormtail mewed sternly. "But, do you want to here the story of Tigerstar and Firestar?"

She didn't want to hear about evil...she only believed in the forces of good...what was pure and what was right..."StormTail...I...I don't feel so good..." AcornKit coughed...his throat felt like it was on fire...and his paw felt heavy and sticky...
